We enjoyed the indoor and outdoor exhibits, especially sun viewing through telescope, walking the scaled galaxy walk and the dome telescope where Pluto was discovered. We came back at night for stargazing . Such a wonderful experience. It gets cold so wear jackets and layers at night. They had glow in dark paths to illuminate walking. And sky viewing was magical!! There were multiple telescopes through which we saw stars, galaxies, star clusters. Even the observatory helpers had a laser pointer to point out constellations. All the stars for this observatory! **July 2026: Tuesday Afternoon**…read more Growing up, Pluto was still considered a planet, so when I found out the observatory where it was discovered is in Flagstaff, I knew I had to include Lowell Observatory on my itinerary. During the summer, tickets were $43 for adults, $38 for seniors (55+), and $28 for children (6-17), with hours from 1 PM to 11 PM (which makes sense with the later sunsets). My friend and I arrived around 2 PM and were able to jump right into a mix of lectures and guided tours. One of the highlights was being led to the very telescope where Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto. It was such a surreal, full-circle moment. Our guide also shared the history of Percival Lowell and walked us through the grounds, which added a lot of depth and context to the visit. I also appreciated how interactive the experience was. There are telescopes available for guests to use during both the day and night, and your admission includes a clip-on badge that allows you to leave and return later in the evening. We had planned to come back after dinner to try and catch a view of a planet, but unfortunately it was a cloudly forecast so we were out of luck. Even without perfect viewing conditions, the experience was still incredibly worthwhile. It's such a great place to learn, enjoy the outdoors, and appreciate the curiosity and dedication of scientists and researchers. We ended up attending several talks and tours and learned a lot throughout the afternoon. We stayed from about 2 PM to 6 PM and even grabbed a grilled cheese sandwich at the café, which hit the spot. Overall, Lowell Observatory is a unique and educational stop that I'd definitely recommend adding to your Flagstaff itinerary--especially if you have any interest in space or astronomy.

Our tour guide, Marco, was fantastic and great at answering questions for our little group of 4. The mansion really is just a showcase of how a wealthy person's home from the early 1900's. You get a glimpse into their business and personal lives as well as the type of furniture employed in the household. The tour was interactive and nice. The self guided tour is just literally walking around the mansion so there isn't too much to see but it makes for a nice, short walk. Overall, I think that there are more interesting museums out there. But if you're looking for a super quiet museum to browse, this would be the place.

I loved that it's located inside a train station and that they had a really nice mix of local souvenirs tied to Flagstaff, Arizona, and Route 66. They had everything from magnets to postcards to puzzles and other little gifts. It was easy to find something cute to bring home for family and friends, and I picked up several items for to gift. The staff was also very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to sharing ideas for attractions, things to do, and places to visit around the area. Overall, it was a convenient and enjoyable stop, and a great place to get both local information and a few fun keepsakes.

It's been a dry winter so all of the "snow" here is made with machines. There are many different tubing slopes and they were SO much fun! Not all of the tubing slopes were open but there was still plenty available and no wait times for us. Our 4 year old had a blast!! There are food trucks available or you can bring in your own food and drinks. Gear is also available for purchase (think gloves, etc). There is one kiddie slope (orange color) for the little ones -- this is the only slope that can be used for double riding in a tube. Overall an amazing experience for us! Alex we did Antelope canyon, horseshoe bend even some other bonuses. So absolutely wonderful and so worth the tour! Alex was great telling us all kinds of details and tidbits. Was attentive to all of us! Lunch was stupendous with plenty of snacks water and soda if you prefer. We did bring extra 3 waters which we could refill with the cooler of just water they had. Corry we had the following day for the Grand Canyon and several extras as well. He was also very detailed and kept us from crowded areas to make sure we had great views for Grand Canyon! He even had a telescope too attach to his phone to show us rafters and kayakers in the waters of the Colorado. The gift shop they both took is to was absolutely great!! Lunch was spot on yet again. We did bring our water bottles that were insulated to keep water cold. The difference of heat and winds was crazy but tolerable and Corry had van open and ready when we got back! He always kept us informed of our itinerary and kept us on schedule without feeling rushed and allowing us to enjoy our journey. We even had a picnic style lunch. Plenty to go around. I called in person to try and transfer from my old place to the new place. Doing this with other utility companies was quite easy and could be done online with no problems. City of Flagstaff on the other had, was a bit more cumbersome. I checked the website and wasn't quite sure so I decided to call. When I finally got a ahold of someone the clerk/person working the phone line was very curt and kept cutting me off by telling me, 'yOu nEEd to AcTIVate a NEw aCCounT!!!!' I even tried to get in a question about not having to pay start up fees since I have never missed a payment ever and always pay on time. More curtness from the person. So, a month and a half later it seems all is well, until I get a bill from them from my old place. I call and let them know that I activated a new account and the person over the phone was again, not very helpful nor understanding. 'We're sorry, but there is nothing we can do about it; we don't do transfers and you should talk to your old landlord to pay it. Sorry that the person was curt to you, but we can't do anything about it.' (They really emphasized that they couldn't do anything about it.) It's one thing if I was being a jerk about it or if I dropped the ball with other utility companies and had a history of being delinquent with my payments, but to be told it was my fault when people were rude and unhelpful is just plain frustrating. Especially at a time when money is tight and I live in Flagstaff AZ. City of Flagstaff needs to work on customer service and a more transparent way of transferring services/utilities in town.
