Stephanie Drew is by far the best medical professional I've ever seen for pain management. She actually cares about her patients. Unlike so many other pain clinics, Twin Cities Pain Clinic is not here to just write prescriptions. The want to help relieve your pain and will give you info and assistance needed to help manage your pain. They will recommend non-prescription techniques of relieving pain such as aquatic exercises, injections, etc.They take the time to listen and recommend best treatments for you. If you are not improving, they will continue to try various treatments until you get the pain relief you need. I personally recommend Stephanie Drew. She is, in my opinion, best in class and truly a rare gem in this crazy medical world. read more

Would give zero stars if it was possible. Went to TCPC after living with 10 years of severe Lumbar radiculopathy affecting my left leg. Met with a NP, who told me that she would never prescribe anything for the pain and that the intrathecal pain pump was my only option. I had previously tried the spinal cord stimulator with failing results. After the "trial" I ended up with a spinal fluid leak, leading to excruciating headaches. After days of calling, they finally scheduled a procedure to fix the leak. I should have seen the signs then, but was so hopeful to have relief. Had the pain pump installed and thought everything was fine and I would finally live with less pain. Little did I know, the pump would be empty before the date they told me to come back on and I was forced to endure morphine withdrawals on my own. Phone calls went unanswered and portal messages ignored. When my NP finally responded to me via the portal, she blamed the emptying on me. Fast forward to round 2, I asked for a medication change due to the side effects I was experiencing, was given the change but again was forced to withdrawal because they will not return phone calls asking for a fill. I am so done, I will have the pump removed and learn to live in pain. Do your homework!!! read more

They are horrible in that they will not prescribe much needed pain medication until you have tried 2 pretty invasive procedures. I told Sally Kangas that my family physician would no longer prescribe my pain medication after the end of the month, and still wouldn't even knowing I would be going through withdrawal. Patient care.... Dr. Pisansky was very dismissive and had a very sterile personality. Wasn't very comforting at all. I received a sprint, peripheral nerve stimulator in my left arm and shoulder. During that time, I only had two calls within the 60 days from the sprint rep . I was told when they put the implant into my arm by the sprint wrap himself that he would be there. I had nothing but problems with The PNS. And had extreme pain associated with having it as well as having it removed, and the way it was removed quite roughly by Dr. Pinski. What really shocked and surprised me was that when I went in for a check up on my implant Twin Cities pain clinic had absolutely none of the equipment used, including patches cords anything for the stimulator so they could not even help me change my patch at the doctors office/pain clinic itself. My partner has been waiting 3 + months for a resolve from the Twin Cities Pain Clinic where Yakano reports to. First its a push for the minute man procedure for the spine. Insurance doesn't cover it well no communication from the clinic we had to track it down. Was to get stem unit put in under the skin no orders placed by the Doctor what a wakco Yakano. I was a patient of TCPC in 2021-2022 with Dr. Andrew Will. My husband passed away in April 2022, when I moved to Seattle. Under Dr. Will's care, I was very happy and felt that he listened to allow me to advocate for my own healthcare as best I could. Upon moving back to Minneapolis in 2023, I re-established care with TCPC with David Botros, PA. The "honeymoon period" and good care I had with Dr. Will, whom I requested as my provider when I returned because of the sensitive nature of my husband's death, would soon come to a quick end under the care of David Botros, PA. David was easy to work with in the beginning, allowing me to keep a medication prescribed for sleep and anxiety associated with my loss. However, he quickly increased me from 90 MME of medication to 120 MME, and then sharply went up to approx. 140 MME, going over clinic policy on a firm 120 MME of opioids. I went over my allotted prescription of pills shortly after this sharp increase in opioid medication, which was entirely my fault. Absolutely no if, and or but about it -- I was the one in the wrong. My concern and reason for the 1-star review was that rather than receiving a violation or final warning, I was immediately discharged. I asked why, to which David Botros, PA said it was because of my going over the allotted pills -- "and other reasons" that he would not disclose. David then put me on an aggressive taper by approximately 40%, which was aggressive given that he was the one who broke the clinic's policy on not dosing more than 120 MME per day. Such a sharp reduction and taper downward will almost certainly cause unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Again, I stress that I'm the one who made the mistake and messed up on going over pills. No one forced me to go over -- just as no one forced David to break clinic policy and established medical guidance on allowing me more than 120 MMEs per day. There are two of us at fault here -- myself and David -- and I get the short end of the stick so he doesn't lose his license, which was his biggest worry throughout my discharge visit. David put me at a known risk for greater opioid addiction by knowingly going over the clinic-established guidelines of 120 MMEs per day, putting me at 140 MMEs. To quickly cover his behind and tracks when I messed up and went over my allotted pills per day, I was discharged. Since it takes two to tango, I will absolutely file complaints against David's license for this. While I cannot stress enough that I was in the wrong just as much as David, I don't understand why I was immediately discharged without violations and warnings as other patients received -- patients who were kept within clinic guidelines and medical standards when dosing opioid medications in an outpatient setting. read more

I was seen by a snot nosed nurse practioner! Never a MD. I was told by one of the nurse practioners that they would be able to help me. But please come back in 10 days. I come back in 10 days the nurse is not there,there is now a 3rd practice with her nose up in the air. She never asked how I was doing ,what my pain level was at. I have a failed fusion. What gives the right to transfer to different types of doctors who could care less about u. Cross there arms and look down at you at the end of there nose. I've been a patient at TCPC for several months and don't have any real complaints about the PA-C I've seen. The problem has been communication. - I will be having a Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression procedure in a month but have not met or spoken to the doctor. This just feel right. - The information available online is limited. There doesn't seem to be any record of what was discussed during the visit. This information is important to me to be able to review since I don't necessarily remember everything discussed during the visit. - Trying to call is not great either. Once you figure out what number to select from the recording often times the queue is long. If you leave a call back number you may or may not get called. read more

My husband had leads placed in his back for a spinal cord stimulator trial. The day the leads were surgically installed, he was sent home with extreme pain in his left leg and a dose of oxycodone. Four hours later he was in the emergency room in extreme pain. He was in the hospital for two days and when I contacted Twin Cities Pain clinic to discuss next steps, the nurse told me he would have the leads removed in a few days without ever activating the stimulator. I regret not looking up these YELP reviews because I would never had done business with this company. They don't communicate with you and are not interested in the patient. read more

I have not only gone here for years; but recommend this fantastic place to anyone with pain! Dr. Cleveland, Kat, and all of the providers are excellent and kind! They know their stuff as well! I am a wanta be doctor and studied medicine. The actual NP, Nancy saved my R knee! I couldn't bear weight on it. Park Nicollet told me that I shouldn't worry about this! Nancy said, "Honey get that knee exraed today please!" I need a new knee! No one else caught this! I began having symptoms of a degenerative spinal issue in my mid twenties. At 41 I have now had 6 spinal surgeries, 4 of which were fusions. The Twin Cities Pain Clinic, especially Sally Kangas DNP, have sometimes been my only source of hope at the darkest moments. They helped me build a well rounded set of treatments to ensure I was attacking both acute & intermittent chronic pain as healthfully as possible. I am so adept at it now that other care providers have expressed their admiration for my methods. I spent over 6 months with TCPC jumping through all the hoops for getting an intrathecal pain pump to manage my chronic pain. My first contact was a virtual appt. with Kjerstin Durie. She was openly hostile and constantly interrupted when I tried to ask questions. I figured it was a "one-off" and continued on the path toward a pain pump. But then... I was told that I would NOT be permitted to MEET THE SURGEON before the procedure. I have enough experience being a patient to know how unusual and worrisome that was. But I passed the PT and Psych evals and was scheduled for an "education" appt. with a nurse named Stephanie Drew. It's hard to describe my level of shock at the ignorance and unprofessionalism of Stephanie Drew, CNP. She couldn't answer most of my questions, interrupted me every time I tried to ask one, and then become openly angry toward me. And this was at the "education appointment" before my scheduled trial pump procedure - the appointment where I was supposed to get my questions answered!!! When I asked about their infection rate and risk percentages, Stephanie completely LOST IT. (And I want to stress that I was calm and non-accusatory; I just wanted to know what my risks were.) I held my temper and my tongue while Stephanie yelled at me, and then I asked for someone who might KNOW the answers to call me. Two days later, a nurse named Sheila called me. I tried to ask my questions, but she kept interrupting to yell at me for my "attitude" and my "treatment" of Stephanie. It was pretty clear she hadn't called to answer my questions. In fact, at one point I just asked, "Can I speak, please?" Her reply: "NO." Needless to say, TCPC failed to build the trust necessary for me to go under general anesthesia and let them operate on me. I wouldn't trust them any farther than I could throw a piano. read more

My husband was a patient there for 5 years. Do to a misunderstanding of his frustration and continued chronic pain he was fired by the clinic. Police were even called. Now he has a pain pump that is empty and beebing all the time. He has tried to get into other pain clinics but we feel he is being blackballed by the Edina Clinic and no one will see him. He has tried to get in touch with Medtronics, maker of his pump to see if it can be removed. So far no luck. If I could have put ZERO, I would have. Absolutely abhorrent. I have severe neck pain and an older back injury. I've been in pain for six months and have done everything docs told me with no relief, so I came here. The first person I saw handed me an iPad and said you need to fill this out. I told her I already did it online. Her response? Are you sure? Yes! Let me go check. Oh yes, I found it. Next saw Dr. Haas, who asked me tons of questions. She asked me where my pharmacy was and I told her CVS in Target off Highway 100 in St. Louis Park. She could not find it on her computer and said, "Are you sure it's not in Hopkins?" WTF? They treated me like I was stupid! I said no, St. Louis Park! Her answer to dealing with my pain was a drug that may or may not cause kidney stones (I'm diabetic too). Or an EMG study which she said will cause MORE severe pain. I told her I had been in the hospital recently because the pain is so bad I felt suicidal. I asked her for pain pills so I could get just a little relief and she refused. What am I supposed to do? I can't sleep or do anything around the house. Taking a shower is extremely difficult. Receptionist saw me walk in and ignored me until I walked over to where she was not knowing where to go because it was my first time there. Sign near reception says please turn off your cell phones while here, but then in the waiting room there's a sign for their WiFi password. What a JOKE! I have been seeing nurse practitioner Amy Krenzer for probably 7 years now. (It never occurs to me to see Dr Will) I personally hate and fight against being on any pill but when I've needed medical intervention Twin Cities Pain Clinic have been there for me. And all the nurses and office personnel I have ever met are really great, kind and professional. Another place hidden in an industrial area.. But the location gave them much more room to spread out. When in pain and muddled it is hard to know or remember the paperwork . First always, take a credit card they "earmark" money but don't actually charge anything till after insurance pays. At the end of some appointments, They require you to review all the paperwork, watch a video, take a quiz and have blood testing to make sure you understand what and why and how you are expected to conduct yourself as a patient. (Probably yearly) Which I admit can be overwhelming when your in crisis. The intention is to prevent any medication abuse which (let's be honest) is common. They want you make an appointment and be reassessed if you feel you need more meds then outlined on your script. I do believe they have mine and every other patient that walks in best interest in mind. Granted, you have to be your own advocate. If you are muddled from pain take a family member or trusted friend. Ask them to take notes or if you can record instructions and answers to question you have to review later. Be pro active, try it find other alternatives that might work for you, tens unit, lidocaine patches, acupuncture, Rolfing, massage, Epsom salt baths, infrared therapy, water therapy and Postural restoration with Maureen(in house PT. She's awesome!!!). Steroid injections suck! They help by reducing swelling in the injected site, however, they are injecting more fluid into an already swollen and inflamed area = pain Pain PAIN for the 2nd-4th day after the injection, then you start seeing improvements as the pain decreases. So they help.....But they Suck! Long gone is the day you can blindly trust personnel in the medical field. So try to educate yourself consider the Twin Cities Pain Clinic as a service but not your only option. If it doesn't work out for you here, I honestly I hope you can find something or somewhere that helps! read more

After 10+ years with my primary care physician helping manage my chronic pain he transferred and suggested I see the Twin Cities Pain Clinic. I was a patient at TCPC for about 18 months. On my second visit to the Woodbury Clinic Dr.Anne Kokayeff (Dr. K) asked if I liked the clinic and would give them a good review on YELP! That was a bad sign of things to come. One morning I was in the shower and heard the phone ring. I listened to the message and was told they were cancelling my prescription because I had not answered the phone. After two phone calls it was resolved but the unnecessary rudeness was a real concern. After a year I developed an allergy to one of my medications and Dr. K and I flushed 100 pills down the toilet. I was not given anything to replace it or help with withdrawal and just had to live through it. Three months prior to moving out of state I went into the Edina Clinic with the name, address and appointment date of my new doctor. The receptionist could not send my records to that doctor but she did send them to my relative. It made no sense. I was always concerned that the nurse who counted my pills didn't wear rubber gloves and I saw her carry the same used pill counter from one room to another. The same woman never wore rubber gloves when she handed me an open cup that she marked with a Sharpie for a urinary analysis. This was the procedure my husband and I saw at every visit and it concerned us deeply. My appointments were randomly moved from Woodbury to Edina and I had to call each morning before an appointment to see where I was scheduled. One month I arrived at my appointment five minutes late due to road conditions and I had to reschedule my appointment. Dr. K knew we were planning a move across the country. At my second to last appointment I tested positive for the drug that I am highly allergic to. On my following (last) visit I saw a nurse who was new to me. She seemed very disappointed that I had already been chastised for a "dirty UA" and gave me my final prescription. My punishment was that I could not pick up my prescription until the day we moved. We packed our truck, drove 25 miles to the closing, drove another 30 miles to wait to pick up a prescription I could have gotten three days sooner, then drove eight miles home to get in our vehicles and drive across the country. Chronic pain patients are really at the mercy of their doctors and this business did not show any compassion. Fortunately my former family practitioner was very supportive of me and shocked at the stories of my experience at TCPC. My current family practitioner manages my pain and in two months knew me better than Dr. K ever made an effort to know me. She always made me feel more like a naughty child than the well educated adult that I am. Beware! read more

I was told on my last visit that I needed to have a urine test done that had cost a couple hundred dollars. Just got the bill and they charged me 12,000.00 for a simple urine test. Will be bringing legal action. This is total corruption and the most unethical abuse of medical privilege I have ever seen not excluding insurance fraud. read more

Twin Cities Pain Clinic is a life saver and a game changer for those of us suffering from chronic severe pain! I have bad discs in my upper and lower back. I have worked with Sally Kangas for over 6 years. She is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and professional! My pills are counted each visit and I take periodic blood and urine tests. I am prescribed several additional treatments in addition to my meds. Dr. Will is great! He has done all of my spinal injections. The ones in the upper back/neck sting but no problems with the lower back injections. If you are Dr shopping and looking to just get pills, these guys will figure you out and you will not be allowed to continue to see them. My assessment of Dr. Andrew Will, During my first visit at Twin Cities pain clinic or should I say Twin Cities detox center. I have found Dr. Will has a total disregard for his patients. A very limited knowledge about how to treat pain patients and has a complete detachment from the needs of the pain community. On my first visit the doctor told me that I was abusing medications and selling them. Because I wasn't using all my breakthrough medications. The directions on the bottle says, take only as needed. So he proceeded to take me off of that Med. Said I didn't need it because I had some left over. He then informed me for punishment he was taking me off my main pain medication for over 24 years. I experienced so many falsehoods and outright lies with this physician. I told him I was going to contact my last physician who retired. Dr Will said he's longer available anymore. In which I knew wasn't true because I talked to him the day before. It made me ill. My previous physician told me that other patients had the same complaints. He then gave me a phone number of another doctor. Along with being a poor historian. I spoke with some of his patients in his waiting room. Almost everyone said they can't wait to leave the clinic after finding a different doctor. Most everyone referring to his incompetence as a physician. I have been going here for many years. I was told my meds would be called in for pick up today and I called yesterday to verify this since tomorrow is a holiday and everyone is closed. They guaranteed me they would be at Walgreens today. I called Walgreens from work and was informed no prescription was called in today and now TCPC is closed. You can't be that irresponsible with peoples medications. I'm very upset and am interested in their explanation when they open on Thursday as to what happened. read more

My son was in a horrific motorcycle accident and his worse injury from the accident was a very severe, worst case scenario Brachial Plexus injury and now his right arm/hand is paralyzed. All of the 5 nerves from his vertebrae that control his right arm/hand movement were stretched and torn, ripped apart. So now for the rest of his life he is enduring intense constant nerve and fathom pain. After his 10 days in the hospital we chose Twin Cities pain clinic to prescribe his medications to make the pain tolerable. One of the 2 most prestigious law firms In MN took his case, a street sweeper pulled out into a intersection as my son had no stop and t-boned the street sweeper. Twin Cities Pain Clinic was not familiar with treating this injury but in the beginning did a good job with his prescriptions to control the pain. My son is on long term disability and has a family. 2 months out of a time period of over 2 years my son accidentally forgot to pay his health Ins. premium, causing him to not have health coverage for that 2 random months. There for he had approx $3000 in outstanding debt owed to Twin Cities Pain Clinic. Over all the medical expenses from the very beginning total over 3 hundred thousand dollars. He was blocked from his monthly appointments to get his medications several times due to this very small amount of outstanding debt. They were well informed there is a lawsuit as every other hospital and doctor was informed with the same information. I finally set up a payment plan with Twin Cities Pain Clinic Business office so that my son could continue with his monthly appts for his prescriptions. The lady I spoke to for 1/2 hour, later that day stated there was no payment plan set up and contacted my son. My son was aware of my phone call with the business office and that payments were to be made at every appt, but the business office argued with my son stating I hadn't set up a payment plan with her. The next thing I heard is they dismissed my son as their patient due to non-payment of outstanding amount owed. This amount owed to Twin Cities Pain Clinic was a very minor amount when compared to all the rest of outstanding bills pending the lawsuit, we haven't had a problem with any other doctor or hospital pertaining to any outstanding amounts owed. So now we are in the initial process for my son to be treated at another specialized pain clinic, meanwhile my son doesn't have meds currently and the pain is intense and not tolerable. We most likely are going to end up in emergency room because the nerve pain is that severe, and the process of getting established with the new doctors is a timely process and he can't endure this pain. My point is Twin Cities Pain Clinic is not a good place to go, they don't care about your suffering, they care about a minimal amount of money that they know they will be paid from lawsuit. I wish I could remember the lady's name I spoke to in the business office, I would complain enough to have her fired if only I had the energy and time. That is a horrible way of doing business when dealing with someone who is suffering due to someone else's negligence. The lady in the business office was and absolute BXXXX. I was just hung up on by some very rude rude, unprofessional girl in Maple Grove. I have worked very hard to get to where I'm at with my medical stuff and after my old physician passed away I needed to find a new facility and care provider. I came to see Nick Rasmussen last week. He was good. Dr. K? was fine too. The treatment plan sounded fine as well. What finally brought me in to seek management of my symptoms was because I didn't want to have too many MD's handling my prescriptions for pain meds. Again, I had NO Problem with the plan. I left there with an understanding that I would do my urine, start P.T. and follow up in 2 weeks with Nick. I saw him on Friday. Saturday, I was in the kitchen. By the end of the night I could barely move and my wife had to help me to even get to couch. I knew that I had signed the pain contract already so I knew that I couldn't go in and ask for anything because it would 'look bad' in Todays world. So I toughed through Sunday and on Monday I called and left a message for Nick. A nice guy called me back and explained that even though I signed this that I could go ahead and get something if I really needed something from my last person that prescribed me a pain med. Since I had taken myself off that big monthly amount back in 2017 and had only had a couple small scripts from a Family MD for my Hand/Wrist pain that had put me out of work for a week. I called her like Nick recommended and she got back to me and explained that since she isn't seeing me for my back pain that she just couldn't, which I totally understand. She suggested I call back to Nick and TCPC and let them know how much pain I'm in. My pain has been at an 6-8 for quite while which is what made me want to seek treatment again with a Pain specialist. So I left a message today and the girl called me back and I was HORRIFIED AND SHOCKED INTO LITERALLY TEARS AND CHOKING ON WORDS because of how rude she was. I explained to her that I had done what was asked and that I was sent back to TCPC. She got extremely rude with me and then started saying that Nick hasn't even seen my records yet and why would he start treating me?? her words, "We don't know if you are an Opioid candidate yet..you need this and that and ...." I said, "wait, what? he said that he did read my stuff and things that my DR that passed away said....I said, I'm just trying to figure out how this all works because I feel backed in a corner. I'm a new patient so I don't know how TCPC works. The date I signed that contract is the date that i'm 'under contract'...I was starting to get intimidated and sad and shaking because I'm just trying to figure out how this clinic works. Again, I had no problem with the treatment plan. I started my PT this week. Did my urine...I have nothing to hide.. She said something and then HUNG UP ON ME!!!! I got off the phone and broke down in TEARS and just sat here wondering what just happened... I signed 3 Release forms 2 weeks prior to my First Appointment with Nick and then again 2 Release Forms the day with Nick because they wanted to get another clinics records. He said he looked over my stuff and now this girl said he didn't? So I just simply asked what she meant? This is exactly why I get so afraid of dealing with Clinics/doctors....no matter what you say or how you say it, if you sound, 'scared, sad, or nervous' you sound GUILTY....THIS GIRL MADE ME FEEL LIKE SUCH CRAP. I did what was asked. I didn't want MORE MD's prescribing me meds, so I didn't think it was a good idea to GO IN AND THEN BE TOLD I BROKE THE CONTRACT THAT I JUST SIGNED. I have never ever been non-compliant, never have I had any issues with Advanced Spine and Dr. R. I wish this phone conversation was recorded today so this GIRL could be FIRED and go through Finishing School. I'm so appalled to ever be treated this way about my condition and seeking relief at a level 6-8pain. I ALWAYS HAVE DONE EVERYTHING MY DOCTORS HAVE ASKED ME TO DO and then I come here and get completely JUDGE AND HUMILIATED! This is no way to live. I'm just blown away by how I was treated and hung up by Maple Grove. To top it off with the next day another lady called me back and I though Oh Good someone to explain. But nope!! She said she couldnt speak about my questions and that maybe they just weren't the place for me or a good fit for me, Gee ya think? No one should be treated that way! My husband ( Who is black ) has a serious chronic pain problem proven medically and he's been going to this clinic for over two years he has had nothing but issues with them I used to go to the same pain clinic and I am white and never had any issues he has had. Dr. Will is an experienced pain physician who really cares about making his patients feel better. I went to the Edina location and found the providers to be excellent and the front desk people to be very kind. When you're in pain it makes a big difference to feel that you are cared about. I give this clinic a FAIL rating. I called to make an appointment and this clinic said in addition to the insurance I already have, they need me to have BACKUP health insurance. They don't just accept certain insurance, they REQUIRE only specific health insurance and will not accept cash. And I didn't even tell them what my issue was, that was the first thing they said. I have been a patient of Dr. Andrew Will's since 2012. At that time, the care was personal and direct. Over the past several years, they have been opening more clinics and adding more staff. With all these additions, the level of service and care has decreased. I was transferred from Dr. Will to Cara, and have since been bounced around from various providers with very little consistency. Dr. Will has implanted two Medtronic Neurostimulator units in 2013. In 2016, I had to have them replaced as the leads had slipped and several had gone bad. In 2017, I was referred to an outside Neurosurgeon as they has slipped again. I find this very unacceptable and wonder if medical mistakes are to blame (as all the other mistakes that have happened to me at this clinic)! I had this revision surgery November of 2017 and am still having more pain than I had before this last surgery. The neurosurgeon states that the surgical part has healed and now I need to be cared for my Twin Cities Pain Clinic. However, Twin Cities Pain Clinic REFUSES as I keep getting bounced back and forth between the two! I contacted their nurse line and was told I needed to make an appointment to be seen and re-evaluated, so I did. A few days later, I got a phone call saying that my appointment needed to be rescheduled as the provider, yet another new person I have never seen before, was not available that day. I rescheduled. A few days before, I got an email to confirm the appointment only to find that I was not scheduled to go to the Edina location, of which I have been going for six years, but the Woodburry location. I get to the Woodburry clinic today and am told that my appointment was at the Edina location, another clerical mistake. At least the staff was nice and admitted there was a mistake on their part, but no apology was offered. I feel that Twin Cities Pain Clinic has lost sight of their core values and caring for the patient. Even in their mission, they say they "combine compassion with extensive medical knowledge" by "providing you with the highest level of healthcare while treating your pain." I think that have gravely missed the mark! read more

This used to be a great clinic, with a great doctor. Now, you cannot even SEE the doctor, period. My last visit there was when I had an epidural. What a terrible experience! I will never go back! The nurse rushed me out of there before my body was ready to leave! My legs were still numb, and I told her so! She shoved me in a wheelchair, and out to my car. I actually had wet my pants, and she didn't even care. My husband had to try to get me into the house when we got home, because I could not walk yet. I called to complain to Dr. Will, but nobody would let me talk to him, period! NP's run this clinic. I will never go back! read more

You cannot, can not, can NOT screw up patient prescriptions! It took 5 phone calls - 3 with the clinic and 2 with my pharmacy to get it right! (technically, I haven't picked it up yet, so...) It was a simple small increase in dosage (non narcotic) that the TCPC Dr. failed to note in my file, and failed to notify the pharmacy about. So when I ran out it became a scramble to get refilled, but then then way wrong amount which would indicate a HUGE increase got put thru, which insurance wouldn't cover. The problem was the number of times per day was wrong. So I called back. I had to explain 3 or 4 times to nurse (who was inattentive to the point of rudeness) that it was supposed to be only twice per day. She didn't get it!!?? I spoke plain simple English. She sounded local. She was reading other stuff while I spoke? She didn't have her coffee yet? (11 am.) Whatever her problem, and everyone else there who messed this up, when it comes to medication you must LISTEN, pay attention! You can lose your career, and someone could lose their life. Im a chronic pain patient with R.S.D my doc retired and after a dozen pain clinics finally got in at TCPC,I require daily narcotic pain management and everwhere I went they said "get off all pain meds b4 we can see you?TCPC saw me did a great exam confirming my need for daily pain meds its a bit of a drag at first but they are very thorough to be sure your legit ,once that is confirmed they are the best pain clinic I have had in years they take very good care of you its well worth the vetting process at first,with the pain med stigma I understand why they check and check again to be certain that you are a legitimate pain patient ,once all that is done they are awesome I see Stephanie and she is great and will take great care of you read more

I am tired of nurse practitioners taking the place of MDs. The big money for pain doctors is in doing procedures such as steroid injections, nerve oblations, device implants, etc. Pain doctors aren't talking to their patients at this clinic. I have gone here off and on and have rarely talked to a MD other than to say hi. The nurse practitioner just love being experts here and some times they are just plain off the wall. I walked away from one appointment realizing they had no idea of the nature of my pain issues from a car accident. Pain clinics these days are afraid of narcotic drugs which is a shame because sometimes it's the only thing that helps. I am afraid this clinic is buying buy into the hysteria currently happening with opiods. Yes, some people do abuse narcotics especially with the time release narcotics but that percentage is not as large as the media is suggesting. I don't think nurses or phy. Asst. should be making the call as to who should or should not get narcotics. A MD is much better qualified to make this determination and has a body of knowledge and experiece that nurse/PAs hasn't. There was a disturbing need from at least two of the PA's I have seen here to almost enjoy the power of telling people what to do. They seemed to relish making people cross their T's. They are in my mind too inexperienced in life and medical knowledge to be responsible for this decision. As long as the patient has a history of being reasonably compliant with prescriptions and the clinic checks with the pharmacies for a patients prescription purchases, prescribing opioids should be an acceptable thing to do. I have a verbal contract with my own doctor that I will not take a prescription from another doctor unless I clear it with him first. Let the MDs decide who should get opiods and leave the pharmacies and government out of it, but this does require a relationship between the doctor and patient. Unfortunately this model is fading away with pain clinics emphasizing medical procedures over patient counseling. Chronic pain is rough, taking away a drug that eases this pain is just cruel. People who have been denied pain drugs just might think suicide is the only escape. It is an unintended consequence but a possible outcome for some. If you think some minor procedures will help these guys are fine. For me this place doesn't offer a relationship with an MD that I can talk to about long range treatment options. My chronic pain is ongoing now for many years and the Phy. Asst's just don't offer me the support on a level that I need. Other problems can come up for long term chronic pain patients, for instance drug side affects from long term use of pain drugs, depression, work disability and the impact of aging on your injury or disease. I see a neurologist for my pain management and this has been a very satisfactory solution. These pain clinics have become the big box store equivalent for pain treatments sans the guidance of qualified medical practioners. read more

I have been a patient at this pain clinic many years. I came from another pain clinic that didn't seem to provide reasonable care. I was seen by Dr. Kokayeff and her CNP Tracey Baehler. First visit Tracey upped my meds which I thought was great. Two visits later upped my meds again. At that time I thought this clinic must be transplanted from Florida. Little did I know they just wanted me hooked on a large amount of Oxycodone and Oxycontin. Being it was given to me for neuropathy (pain in my lower legs and feet). They have a very expensive implant surgery that runs wires into your back, and I did not like this idea. Those get infected and people have all sorts of problems with them. What they do to force you to have that surgery is to cut you off of pain meds with any lame excuse they can come up with which puts you into with drawls. Soon as you tell them you will go ahead with the surgery they start up the pain meds again. They (TCPC) clear $80,000 off of this implant surgery. It was very clear to me the last time I saw Kokayeff she was just being a vindictive pos when cutting off my meds. Again causing with drawls. She also lied on the records which I plan to prove in court. Don't trust these jackasses, you will be sorry. read more

Above all else, this low rating starts with front of house staff... Repeatedly, I was treated rudely during phone calls. I had to press for help far more assistance than I should have. I have been in Health Care for more than 20 years, I am VERY aware of quality of service, which this clinic lacks. There is a CHRONIC missing link here. As I do not work at the clinic and they do NOT ask for input, I cannot say why it is so dysfunctional. One has to wonder is its the drive for $$ or a lack of supervision. The clinic sells itself as comprehensive... Lets be clear.. That is not true, they miss that beat on every level. Twin Cities Pain likes to do procedures and give out pills. That leads to one thing... $$$ There are better options locally for someone who wants to be taken care of. Weight the good reviews with the BAD! read more
