It was frustrating, because I really didn't want my family to have to deal with "much" during this trying time. (e.g., didn't want my dog's body in the garage overnight). A veterinary colleague recommended "Pets Remembered Cremation Service" and I had an amazing experience. They were super responsive, had clear communication in a time of grief, and had an after hours fee which allowed me to drop off my dog's body at a time that worked for us. When I got there, they were so compassionate and empathetic, and really treated my dog's body with respect. I really appreciated the space (e.g., grieving room) and them greeting me at the door with guerney (with blankets and a pillow on it). I got my dog's ashes back the next day and the presentation was beautiful - a beautiful bag, temporary cardboard tube for his ashes, and the most heartwarming nose print and paw print memorial.
