It was easy to park on the streets for free, and many others did as well to avoid the parking lot fee at the stadium. They had a pre-game party on the lawn which was so fun! There were samples of beverages, games, and plenty of information booths. There are multiple entrances to head into the stadium. The stadium was epic! There is a huge Brewhall on one end of it, which was incredible, and they had lots of other food stations as well to choose from. We enjoyed the cheese curds! Lots of shops as well to get some gear. Evening games are gorgeous as the sun is setting just past the stadium. There is truly not a bad seat in the stadium! We were high up, but it was good so we were able to see the whole field. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Lots of fun chants to yell during the game, and of course waving your towel! Quite a crowd getting out of there but many traffic guards to help. Definitely worth a try!

They sponsored a picnic dinner for family outside the stadium. There's a huge pre- party area nearby for pre-game music and booths and some fun interactive experiences. I grabbed a free clear bag from Hyundai. We also checked out the kids playground area on the east side of the stadium. Loved it. Great for kids to get the wiggles out before heading into the stadium. The game was full of excitement. We sat behind the north side goal tender area. I did a nice lap around the stadium, grabbed drinks, ice cream and a souvenir for the kiddo. The only negative for me was one of the refs that had some very bad calls and the bugs. It was very buggy, I felt itchy quite often and maybe because they are constantly watering the grass so it's the only place the bugs are attracted to in the area since it's been so dry.

The arena itself was the perfect size in my opinion. There isn't a spot without a great view, even from the top!! And of course, the concessions are the best part of any sports game but I think this arena definitely takes the cake for the best options. Swedish meatball bowls, Kemp's ice cream, Domino's, and many more goodies to snack on! This was honestly the most impressive part for me. One thing to note is that the arena is downtown, so parking will be inevitably tricky. We got an Uber just to save us from the hassle of finding a spot. I can't wait to go back! Mariucci is the epitome of a fun, college hockey night and camaraderie. Ski-U-mah!

KNOW YOUR ENEMY…read more Although I'm an ardent supporter of another AL Central team, I still gotta tip my cap to this northern ballclub. Originating as the Kansas City Blues (eventually becoming the Washington Senators), the Minnesota Twins were named after the adjacent cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.  They play their home games at Target Field which opened in 2010. The Twins have historically been an 'OK' team holding an overall record of 5,162 wins and 5,239 losses which equates to a 49.6% winning percentage.  They've experienced a period of success (WS championships in 1987 & 1991) followed by a number of dark years, then a strong resurgence in the mid 2000's. For decades, the Twins played at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodrome, widely panned as one of the worst venues in baseball.  I have vivid recollections of former All-Star Torii Hunter robbing countless homers off of that stupid "baggie" outfield wall in the dome.  I'm GLAD they demo'd the Metrodome, good riddance! Notable players in Twins history include Rod Carew, Joe Mauer (stud), Johan Santana, Tony Oliva, Harmon Killebrew, and Kirby Puckett.  The best player on the active roster is center fielder Byron Buxton, a guy with incredible speed, top-tier defense and elite power. Fun fact: Twins legend Justin Morneau played half a season with the White Sox in 2016, hitting a mere 6 home runs (compared to the 221 he clubbed in his 11-year tenure with MIN).  Other notable Sox-Twins include beloved slugger Jim Thome, fiery closing pitcher Liam Hendricks, and infamous catcher AJ Pierzynski. Derek Shelton is the current team manager but he's no Ron Gardenhire, who led the Twins to 6 division titles between 2002-2014.  As of 8/4/26 the team is in third place in the American League Central, quietly sneaking up on the Cleveland Guardians for a wild card spot. * TL;DR * While it's true that the Minnesota Twins are divisional rivals of my White Sox, it's not a heated rivalry a la Yankees-Red Sox or Cubs-Cardinals. It doesn't feel long ago that 2019's 'Bomba Squad' set a new MLB record for team home runs with a whopping 307.  These days, the slugging numbers are down but hope springs eternal for a fanbase hoping to witness the Twins reclaim the pennant and return to the Fall Classic for the first time in over 35 years. The 'TC' logo is slick, the stadium is cool, and the Twins' name is directly tied to the city/cities they play in.  That's more than enough positives to earn 4* from this sports fan.

Four Seasons Curling Club is a lovely Curling Club located at the Fogerty Arena in Blaine. I have…read morebeen curling here in a league now for 2 years and it has been lovely. The staff are fun and friendly, the ice is usually in pretty good condition, and they have pretty reasonable prices compared to a lot of the other arenas in the area. We even had a work team learn to curl event here for a team bonding event and everyone had a blast. On top of all of this - in the evenings there is a restaurant and bar located next to the ice that is open (Moe's) so you can grab a beer to go and bring it to the ice! Overall, a great time! Be on the lookout for their learn to curl events if you are interested in trying curling out!

- Historic Fort Snelling…read more Historic Fort Snelling is an excellent place to visit for anyone interested in American history, military history, or history in general. The site is fairly large, but parking was easy and cost about $6. Payment appeared to operate largely on the honor system, with instructions posted near the visitor center. Admission was around $15. Guided tours are offered at the top of the hour and last approximately 15 minutes. The tour is brief, but it provides a helpful overview of the fort and gives you enough background to explore the rest of the site on your own. Afterward, you can visit the different buildings and areas discussed during the tour. Costumed interpreters are stationed throughout the property and provide more detailed explanations about the fort, its residents, and daily life during different historical periods. There are also large informational displays throughout the site for anyone who wants to learn more independently. Some of the highlights included live blacksmithing demonstrations showing how items such as nails were made, as well as exhibits covering the quartermaster, sutler, physician, pharmacy, library, enlisted soldiers, officers, and the commanding officer's residence. The medical exhibits were especially interesting and showed how medicine and the role of physicians changed over time. The different sections of the fort represent multiple periods in its history and appeared to be carefully presented with period-appropriate details. Visitors can also see areas such as the ammunition magazines and the spaces where enslaved African Americans lived. I appreciated that the site did not ignore or minimize that part of its history. There was also a live rifle demonstration using blanks, which was interesting and added another interactive element to the visit. How long you spend here really depends on how deeply you want to explore. You could move through fairly quickly or spend several hours reading the displays and speaking with the interpreters. A large school group was visiting while I was there, and the children seemed engaged and excited. Between the costumed interpreters, demonstrations, and hands-on style of learning, this would be a great place to introduce children to history. Overall, I am very glad I stopped at Historic Fort Snelling. It was educational, engaging, and well worth the visit.

All the staff are to be commended not only for their knowledge but also their friendliness and willingness to answer questions. I especially enjoyed the blacksmith's explanation and demonstration of the work he does there. In the gift shop they sell actual nails and hooks they forge on site! The museum at the visitor center has an excellent exhibit of the history of the fort that's worth visiting!
