I went to a radio show which is titled classic radio roadshow in which live actors perform well known radio classics in front of a live audience with all the Foley sound effects. Look that up, it's interesting. If you close your eyes during the performance you can imagine watching a radio from times of yore. Classic shows were performed, some were Abbott and Costello, the Shadow, Gunsmoke etc. all the performers were well-seasoned. Obviously this is a period before TV and my upbringing, but I certainly appreciated the show. The funniest were the comedic skits. There are other types of theatre presentations throughout the year. I finally got to do Ciclovia after knowing about it for years. Ciclovia is a car-free streets day…read morethat occurs three times a year in New Brunswick (spring, summer, and fall). I think the route varies slightly each time, but it's mainly George Street and Joyce Kilmer Ave. They had a great map on their website showing the route, and the streets are well blocked off with officers at every intersection that still had cars going through it. Once you're there, you can't really go wrong. The route itself is not that bikeable, though, because it's mostly pedestrians-- people wandering around or just standing around; tons of kids playing and biking every which way; even toddlers roaming freely on the ground. It's a human obstacle course. They are definitely having a blast though-- there are a few large inflatable bouncy house type things, for example there was one where you could try to kick a soccer ball to hit a target. For adults there is a rock climbing wall and a salsa class. It would be nice to have a lane set aside, maybe with cones or those silver fence-gates, so that one could actually cycle at Ciclovia. It's not necessary in downtown NB, but once you hit the residential area it gets a bit too chaotic. It's not so crowded that you can't bike through, but it could just use a bit of organization. The second time we went though (it's short so you kind of need to do "laps") we ended up turning off at Suydam and going to Cook campus and Rutgers farm. This is a good extension to do. You can take Remsen going back and then Neilsen.

We found out about this event through Yelp and four of our friends joined us for an afternoon of great spirit tastings and entertainment. The people watching was as much fun as the event itself. The food trucks there had great for pay options to help. Keep you going through throughout the afternoon. I highly recommend you put this on your radar for next summer.

This is their biggest event featuring Classic Cars, Hot Rods, Custom Bikes, Live Music, and Street Vendors located on Main Street and its surrounding streets spanning 6 blocks. Thank goodness the weather held out as there were many spectators enjoy viewing these classic cars, the aromas of the various foods and with 3 mobile bandstands the music.
