First and last time at this campground. The grounds are beautiful but the owners are not. They are very, very strict. Strict to the point that you are afraid to do anything. The 5 mph speed limit is understandable, but if you go 7mph down the hill, you get scolded for "whipping around". ( I am 63 y/o...I am not whipping around anywhere). But on the same point, the owner is down right reckless while speeding around on his side by side. There is a "Do as I say, and not as I do" mentality here. They are so strict that it wasn't very enjoyable. Places to sit and watch your kiddos in the pool are OUTSIDE the pool. Seems they cater to the seasonal people and probably should go membership only, because regular campers don't feel very welcomed. It's a shame because the property is beautiful. read more

I want to start by saying that I've ever left a negative review in my life. My family and I visited for the day and our experience was beyond bizarre. Upon trying to enter, we were first very rudely denied because my husband did not have his ID on him. The owners made an exception because we had our 10-month old son with us for the Halloween festivities. When they asked me for my license plate number and I gave it to them off the top of my head, they went outside to the back of my car to confirm because they didn't believe me. Since my husband didn't have his ID on him, they would not let him drive to the campsite and made him switch into the passenger seat if we wanted to be let in. We were then escorted by the owners in a golf cart to the visitors parking space. They did not leave until we were parked and had gotten our son and all of our things out of the car. We spent about 6 hours here. It was fine. When leaving and in route to the exit, the owner, Karen, raced up to the side to our car in a golf cart demanding for us to roll down the window. She started screaming and accusing us of speeding which we were not doing and threatened to call the cops on us. Ironically enough, she then flew to the campsite we were just visiting, exceeding her very strictly enforced 5mph speed limit, to scream and swear at my elderly mother accusing us again of almost hitting her with our car and that we were never allowed back. Based on the other negative reviews, it sounds like others have had a similar experience here. We have never felt so unwelcome and been treated so rudely by owners of a business before. We have never been rudely treated by any business owners before. After tonight, it is mind boggling to me that people would support this campground when there are so many other beautiful places in the area where you will not be harassed, scrutinized, and verbally abused by the owners. We have been seasonal campers for three years now, my parents for four and it had been nothing but great experiences. The campground is very well maintained and I love that they have rules and safety measures in place. There are a lot of kids running around especially up by us on the mountain and when cars go too fast we are quick to say something to the drivers, or the owners and it gets handled quickly. Despite being seasonal we always try to invite weekend campers to our cookouts and cornhole games who are staying in our area of the park. The amenities are great and we are always down for Bingo and using the pool and going out on the lake to float around. read more

Very pretty campground, we were only there one night, but found it clean, quiet and very great view.

They also schedule hay rides, arts and crafts and even a DJ at night time. This is my second year coming and I actually extended this year stay an additional two days. It is so beautiful here, and the grounds and facilities are very well taken care of. There is a strict 5 mph rule for the safety of the kids. And even though there's kids here, they are well supervised and not rowdy at all. The scenery is breathtaking here. read more

Had visited Twin Oaks on the recommendation of some friends who have been going there for sometime and I'm glad we did! We were looking for a nice quiet and clean place and we found it! We arrived late due to the fact we hitting traffic and owners Karen and Larry couldn't be more accommodating. Even tho it was late they even went out of their way to drop off some fresh firewood so we could get our vacation underway! This trip we stayed in one of the cabins by the lake because we wanted the lake experience and it was awesome. It's a no frills cabin which means you bring your own sheets and pillows and towels but they supplied the bed, table and chairs and it even had air conditioning! While we didn't need the AC on this trip but was nice to know it was there. Since the cabin was electrified we even brought a small refrigerator with us so it all worked out. The grounds were so well maintained as were the facilities, in a COVID wold there was plenty of soap and sanitizer to go around. Had a few chats with the owners and they were very nice and gave us some history of the place and gave us some recommendations on what to do locally. This was the saddest camping experience I have had in over 40 years of being an avid adventure seeker. PLEASE heed the warning of EVERY other reviewer here on Yelp. Lovely facility but does NOT stand a chance due to the owners. They simply lack people skills or any type of professional ethic to be in the service industry. From the moment we stepped inside the office/store until we rolled out of the property, the negative cloud of this husband/wife team permeated every moment of our 1 night experience. We were welcomed with a nasty attitude from the get go. While the facilities looked lovely, the actual experience was a bit of a nightmare. I wondered why, in an RV park that was so close to major attractions, during the height of the season, there were was no one there except the 20 or so seasonal renters. I suppose if you enjoy being spied upon, verbally abused and treated downright rudely, this may be the place for you. There is no enjoyment nor relaxation at this facility, just the overwhelming feeling that the owners are unhappy people who probably missed their calling. They should have become prison wardens. DO NOT SUBJECT YOUR FAMILY TO A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE. HEED THESE WARNINGS! read more

One star is to good to give this place. This place is run by Camp Nazi's. We brought our parents there and they fell in love. And although I am thankful for how good they treat my parents, I can not say the same for myself and my husband. They chase you down with excessive speed on their golf carts if they think you're exceeding the 5 mile an our speed limit. They banned myself and my husband because they were rude to us when we pulled in one afternoon to visit our parents. So my husband posted a one star. Nothing else was said, and mind you they had one of their cronies stare us down. They are bullies in my opinion. They know us and instead of calling us to tell us we were banned from visiting our parents seasonAl, they called my 78 year old parents to have them tell us. (My parents have been there for about 10 years) so they put our parents in the middle. Kids can't ride their bikes there without getting hassled. They say kid friendly...that's a joke. They banned my nephew because he came to visit with a friend and they were going "to fast" in their eyes and they yelled at him and his friend. You can't camp there if your camper is too old, you now are not allowed to tent there either. They've lost multiple seasonals because of their condescending behavior. Stay away!!!!! Find a campground that is happy to have you!! And read and pay attention to the other reviews that give low stars!!! They speak the truth!! I've read them. During the week, when I was camping there mu friend came up to see me. She is handicapped. The campground on a Wed. does not have many campers so I told my friend that she could drive up to my site. The owner of Twin Oaks followed and told my friend she would have to park in the parking lot and go back to the building to pay $5.00. We sat there for about a minute. My friend is 70+ years old, the male owner yelled "well get to it". I pointed out that the camper 2 camps away had 3 cars coming and parking by the camper all day. They said we can't watch everyone. We stayed July 4th weekend they were the only campground with vacancy on the short notice. The campground was very nice, but it was run by people who want to micro manage everything. They explained to us that the previous owners let the place go and they are very strict. They need to find a happy medium or they won't be very successful. When checking in they "escorted" us to our campsite and told us exactly where to park our camper. I told them I wanted the camper to face the opposite direction and was told "No" with no explanation as to why. I was a little annoyed but decided that wasn't going to ruin my weekend. My kids had fun riding there bikes around the campground until it was apparent that the owners where watching them like hawks. They came out yelling at them about going 5 miles per hour even on bikes. I was watching, they were not going that fast and again decided to let it go. They then came after one of my kids in their golf cart, telling him to get a helmet on. My kid is 15 and told them this, they had no answer for this and drove off. As the day went on they were still watching my kids. At 7:40 PM they came yelling again at them, "No riding bikes at dark, put the bikes away". I was furious, it was not dark. The real kicker was there was a family coming down the road with there little ones on bikes and they said nothing to them. That night I didn't get to bed until 2:30 AM because of teenagers that decided to play beer pong all night yelling and screaming. Apparently they only care about kids riding bikes and not about drinking and yelling after quite hour. read more

Reading the reviews for this campground..Are you kidding me? This campground is NOT for party animals. Its a beautiful well managed campground that you will thank yourselves for visiting. The lake is beautiful, filled with fish. Your kids can feel like kids here. Everyone, especially the staff are warm and welcoming. Yes all the seasonals are equally friendly. The owners, Larry and Karen, come up with some awesome events during the season ,something for everyone. You and your family will be glad you chose this campground...Its a beautiful place to stay. My family has stayed here 12 nights, and we cant wait to get back there. If you want to relax and have your kids play in a safe environment this is the place. Sit by the fire, look out over the lake at picturesque mountains, even watch the Eagle sore above the waters. This is the friendliest campground I have ever stayed at, and the most beautiful as well. They also have a good campstore, with everything you could want or need. Propane station also. When you arrive obey the speed signs, its enforced to protect your kids. We stayed here 3 seasons. The owners run the place like a well-oiled military machine. This was the good part. They kept on top of everything trying to keep it clean and well-maintained for campers. No complaint there. They had some nice activities on weekends for adults and kids. The view of mountains was beautiful and the surrounding vicinity was very good for sightseeing. The other seasonals we're not nice people though. Snobs, rude, clicky, unfriendly, gossipy, unsympathetic, and overall not nice people. If I had to stay there one more season I would have put up a giant gazebo to block out the perpendicular new neighbors and their constantly barking dogs. read more

It's just your one normal campground. I have seen some reviews that the owners were snobby but we haven't had any problems while we were there. The lake is beautiful, (but needs more cleaning) It's a hotspot to go fishing at and they have a nice store with almost everything you could need. Along with toys and ice cream for the kiddos. They have a nice pool, it's always taken care of and clean. You can rent golf carts to drive around the camp, but make sure to follow the 5 mile an hour speed limit! I also think it's really nice that they put it right near downtown schoharie, which has all your restaurants and stores! They even have cabins in case you don't have a camper! Also has pretty good Wi-Fi and Data service! Maybe you hate them, maybe you love them, but can we all admit that the owners are nice? Last year they held a whole Christmas in July festival, a hay ride around the camp, and some decorating in the tractor storage. It's also a nice place for bike riding and scooter riding as well. All in all, this campground gets a 4 star. read more

First of all, the site is beautiful. The lake is pretty, the view of the fog coming over the mountains is lovely, the pool looked clean. Not that we went in it--if we had the owners probably would have run us out! A group of us stayed one night at this campsite. We had an RV and 2 tents and paid for 3 sites. The owners were immediately rude and unfriendly, but we let it go, and then they led us to out to our campsite by golf cart. Even though the place was only about one quarter full, they put us in the middle of the field, not near any trees or the lake, (or the bathrooms for that matter) and close to a few long term campers who were obviously supposed to keep an eye on us. 2 of us came around the office little late but well before quiet hours, and the store/office said closed (which it also said in the afternoon when we checked in) but ring bell for service, so we did. The woman opened the door, growled at us and slammed it hard in out face. Then as we drove away, we missed the turn and had to drive around the campground for a few minutes, which we did at about 8 miles an hour (admittedly 3 miles over the speed limit). As we came around to our site the owners chased us down in a golf cart like drunken teenagers and came barreling around the front of the car cutting us off, causing us to drive off the path onto the grass. They were hysterical and red-faced, yelling at us for speeding around like wild banshees and disturbing the neighbors, etc. We apologized (not that we had done anything wrong--we were simply astonished they were so aggressive!) but they ranted on like we were drunken partiers banging on their door at 3am. Then they actually screamed at us to go to bed. That's right! We are 8 grown adults - friends quietly camping for the night on out way downstate -- were told we needed to "go to bed right now"!!! By this time it was around 9:15, maybe 9:30pm. Quiet time starts at 10. Check out was at 11am and at 10:59 Larry was there at our campsite in his golf cart to make sure were were outta there by 11, and made sure we knew--as if we'd forgotten--that he didn't appreciate us tearing around the camp last night, that we were the rudest people he'd ever met, etc etc. When we left he complained that we dropped our trash in the dumpster which was on the side of the road near the exit. There were no garbage cans so we figured that was what we were expected to do. Bottom line--They are miserable people and clearly don't want anyone but long term or seasonal campers there so why bother even renting the space? Do not come here. If you want to sit outside after 9pm don't come here. If you want to have a relaxing camping experience without being spied on, don't come here. If you want to enjoy yourself in any way, do not come here. Not recommended. If I could give them less than one star I would. read more

Was visiting a friend's spot and considering getting a spot of our own in the future, but it was - HOLY COW - awful. The owners were so needlessly rude and power tripping all day long, going above their strict speed limit on their golf carts, stalking and yelling at the people paying to stay there. All day long, we couldn't help but talk about, over and over again, how unpleasant of a mood they cast on our visit. We heard so many stories about how rude and nasty they were in the past. Our friends were locked in for the whole season, though. We heard more stories about how other customers had been needlessly kicked out when the owners were power-tripping. We were very friendly to them when they came by, wearing masks and socially distancing when required, going the speed limit, not driving on the grass, weren't playing music, and not drinking. We followed all of their rules, but we still managed to get yelled at by the rude and disrespectful owners when we were just trying to visit for an afternoon. The whole time we felt like we were being watched over by abusive parents. Don't support business owners that bully their customers. I wish I could give this campground a good review. The view is picturesque but the owners can be difficult and come across rude at times. The beach is small at the POND but the fishing and frog catching are fun for the kids. It has a small pavilion with older video games and outdoor game areas no one was using due to construction on a pool that wasn't open. There are many sites both seasonal and overnight. Some located on the pond but most are located in a field with little to no shade. The owners lock the door to the store during the day and you have to ring a door bell for service. There are many extra fees charged. Campers celebrating into the night will not be tolerated! Very low key campground catering to quiet families. read more

Where to begin.....this was literally hands down the worst camping experience I've ever had. The owners are rude, stalking, thieving peeping Tom's. My family and friends made up a group of approximately 25 people on 6 sites. We were stalked, heckled, picked on and flat out yelled at, before quiet hours even. We were verbally abused and threatened by the owner Larry and his wife Karen. Again harassed the next day by their teenaged daughter. This campsite is only for boring people who go to bed at 8 pm. People who don't enjoy reasonable music and sitting by their campfire. We were also promised a refund on 6 sites, which the next day Karen refused to us over some fabricated lies to cover their lack of professionalism and customer service. The sites were small. Loaded with ticks. The "lake" was slimy and icky. Nothing was kid friendly at all. This will be a never return for all of us. Another issue we finally picked up on was the amount of people they had stragetically placed throughout the campsite as their watch dogs reporting anything they do not like (which is any type of fun).As this review can be deleted by the administration for this page on Facebook, I will also be adding a review on Yelp, Trip advisor and any other page I can find. They are very unprofessional, and I strongly discourage staying at this camp ground. read more

This place is horrible. Please do not waste your time or money. They overcharge for everything, barely anything is included. Most of the people who stay here are all family members so they get away with anything. They will tattle tail on you for anything! This place is like renting a place from a third world country. They will pick a campsite to pick on until that family finally decides to leave/or they terminate your lease! The owners are horrible individuals whom have nothing better to do with their time then curse, yell, and belittle individuals. May I add, they also have family members whom they like to do their dirty work for them.
