It's charming, cozy, and historic. You can see the stage from the outside when the windows are open where they have picnic tables and lights and delicious free barbecue tacos. Concert tips- bring cash. Drinks are super cheap - bottled beer for $3 or $4 or wine for a bit more. Bring the cash for drinks, tips, as well as koozies, shirts, etc. if wanted. Wedding reception venue- the owner is SO nice and great to work with. Bring your own band or DJ, caterer, but must use the bar which was a BREEZE. You can do cash bar or open bar with a limit if needed. The owner and bartenders were great about letting us know how the amount was doing. We went with the recommended caterer (who also does the concert tacos), and he did not disappoint with the barbecue. We got lots of compliments on the food. Tables/chairs come with the venue, and the owner is very flexible with what you do for decor as long as it is restored to normal after the event. She is super communicative and friendly. Wedding Reception venue tips- take advantage of the indoor/outdoor aspect. We decorated the outdoor tables too and had cornhole, yard Jenga, and ladder golf for people to enjoy. Just keep in mind that outdoor (and people coming back inside) means gravel and grass, so keep in mind shoes and long dresses can get dusty. I can't recommend Kendalia Halle enough!

It's not quite split into beginner, intermediate, and advanced, but rather they start at the very beginner level and move onto more immediate level by the end. The routine is very easy to follow. You don't need to know how to dance to participate. You don't need a partner. At the beginning of the dance lesson, the ladies line up on one side of the line and the gentlemen line up on the other. Whoever is across from you is typically your partner. After the dance lessons, it's free for all. They play music all night, with an occasional intermission of more youthful pop club style music and some line dancing. In addition, if you come later on and show them your military CAC card, you can come in for free. I've stayed here several times until 1 am, and felt very safe! I've also met numerous friends/dance partners throughout the 20+ times I've went. This is one of the main reasons I LOVE san antonio.

This was once an amazing dance hall, now it's just another place to charge folks high prices to listen to music.
