I understand this is a chain and they operate under corporate guidelines, however being personable to add to the customer experience would go along way. Once I was taken back to my room I was asked how I liked my pressure and if there were areas I'd like my masseuse to focus on, which I responded and she literally shut the door, not giving me any instruction or a run down of how my 90 min massage service was going to go. Luckily this wasn't my first time and I'm very experienced in massages, however it was my first visit to Massage Envy and even if it wasn't, I feel like that's protocol. During my massage the motions felt very repetitive like she was forgetting what to do or what to work on next and was just doing motions to fill time. In my experience, usually the person will use pressure to indicate what area of the body they're moving to next as a respectful thing so you're not guessing where they are in the room. This wasn't done and she was very sudden and would quickly yank my arm or leg out from under the sheet to work on the next area. The pressure itself wasn't bad but I do prefer a firm pressure which it was medium at best. When the massage concluded the masseuse asked "how do you feel?" Which I responded "good" and she walked out of the room. Again, not another word- no instruction on getting dressed or if she'd be waiting outside or to check out, no "thank you for your visit," not a peep. Just left without another word. The massage itself wasn't bad but this visit definitely falls short on a "personal" experience and they could train on customer service. I won't be back and will stick with private , smaller establishments.
