They kept messing up the base trim around the house. They had to keep coming out to "fix" their issues, but eventually my GC called out his Handy Man to tear out sections and replace it. Such simple things that I could have done myself better, and now I'm stuck living with this on a brand new build out. Avoid them if at all possible, I would never call them for even something simple. They came out to install some barn door guides and even split the trim and just left, again my GC had another guy come out and clean up their mess. On top of that, my basement smelled like an ashtray for a few hours after one of their guys left. It was impressive just how bad of a job their guys did, they clearly knew they were doing crap work and just left, I guess hoping no one would notice.

Fast forward and we are selling the house and decided to use this gentleman's company again. On the day I reached him he was out a few hours later to give a bid. He used a ladder. Many contractors don't, which is surprising. The following day the estimate was received. It's best to obtain several estimates. This company had provided quality work but they are extremely expensive. Yes, I've heard the saying "You get what you pay for." However, when estimates are priced based on line by line items instead of per project; it can become unclear if someone is trying to take advantage of a project or is providing a high bid because they are too busy to accept a new project. Make sure when hiring a contractor you purchase the materials for the identical cost that the contractor would have purchased them, too.

That remodel left the 1954-55 era bathtub in place, with a couple of gnarly, rusting gashes in it's original finish. When I saw the sad looking tub in the newly refreshed bathroom, I was unhappy. We started researching refinishing companies, deciding on All America Fine Finishes. When Ken and his assistant worked their magic on our tub, it was PERFECT! The tub looked brand new! It GLEAMED! It has been over 4 years since the work was done and the tub still gleams. I thought that very thing when I was giving the tub its cleaning the other day, thinking then, I should write this review. AND, another thought to add...Ken is a caulking magician!! I would love to learn how to lay down a line of caulking as seamless and smooth as this man can do!! AWESOME!

I provided the wood to replace door panels, and wood for shelving as he said he would install. Upon delivery, it was discovered the shelving was stained with haphazard application, requiring the removal, sanding, staining and reinstalling brackets for shelves on my time and dime! Upon further inspection the joints were not glued properly, the stain was thin and uneven, and the application of varnish was so thin scratch marks are easily made. Not even cheap furniture scratches so easily! This should not happen with multiple layers of varnish to protect the furniture. When questioned, Dave assured me there had been multiple layers of varnish applied which was obviously not true. If you have antique furniture to be restored I would not recommend NcNary's! I was and still am tremendously disappointed in their workmanship and integrity of their business dealings!

About 15 years ago, I had a flagstone patio and walkway installed in my backyard by a different firm. Since then, it has been a regular maintenance problem, requiring service about once every two years. Perhaps the AB3 foundation installed below the flagstones might not have been adequate. The grout between the stones sometimes cracks, needing repair. The stones tend to settle producing an uneven surface. Layers and pieces of the stones break off. About every other year, I've hired someone to service the patio. They often install new grout into the cracks in the old grout to repair the cracked grout and reseal the patio to protect from winter damage. Sometimes they pressure wash the patio before sealing. That looks really good, but the pressure washing tends to do more damage to the stones. Different firms have dealt with these repairs in different ways, but the extent of the problems needing repair have gotten progressively worse. When James came to my house to inspect the problem, he explained what really needed to be done and sent me a detailed proposal and price by email. The price was reasonable relative to the amount of work that needed to be done. His crew of professionals did the work with great care and expertise. They did not just repair cracked grout. Wherever there was cracked grout, they completely removed the grout and replaced it with new grout. They replaced four of the damaged flagstones with new ones. In areas where the stones had settled, producing a tilted surface, they removed the stones, installed new AB3 foundation to level the surface, and reinstalled the stones. After completing the repairs, they sealed the patio with a professional grade penetrating sealer. The patio now looks like new. Unlike some contractors, who insist on a deposit in advance, James did not request payment until the job was done. He did somewhat more work than was in his original bid, but at no increase in price. I must say it was a pleasure having James and his crew working on my property. They are hard working professions whose work I respect. In addition, it is easy to talk with them. I wish I had known about them years ago. They get the job done right.

I was apprehensive with who might be able to do justice and not ruin them. I took a shot with GKH furniture repair and restoration. I'd seen the reviews, and I now can say the reviews weren't exaggerated. When I first called Greg last November he was honest about the time fragment it would take. I unfortunately called during the holidays, which was not good. I later called in March, amd he told me then, sort of leveling with me that this sort of work takes time, like 4-6 months. It wasn't a bad wait and I was patient. The saying goes, "all good things come to those who wait," and it's true if you want a master to handle your antiques. I've sanded, stained wood before, and it's no easy task. It's a time-consuming endeavor, and I also didn't trust myself restoring antique bookcases. In retrospect the price was reasonable for the result. I now have an admirable place to keep my Ulysses, and restored bookcases my ancestors would be proud of.

For the sofa they assisted me in selecting a vinyl they carried that everyone thinks is real leather when they sit on the sofa. They also refurbished the chrome frame as well. I would highly recommend De Leon to anyone. For my sofa they came and picked it up at my home and returned it to me when done. Al De Leon was great to work with and I couldn't help but be charmed by his adorable mother who works in the store as well.
