However he was of good mind but needed advanced care. In March 2023 we moved him to the Manor and their care was decent through April. However when my father became Ill, with what he thought was maybe a bad cold, he asked for a doctor. The nurses did not have a doctor come to see him, as he came, but passed him by, by mistake. Two days later, my father calls me - has a terrible cough, I called and asked the front desk to make sure he gets the doctor on Thursday - they assured me he was in good hands. The doctor doesn't come on Thursday - Friday my mother, who was also not feeling well goes to check up on him and he is deathly ill. They missed the window for someone who had Pneumonia to get him a doctor, despite him asking for one twice that week, and tried to pawn it off as unnecessary. Of course, he goes to the doctor and he has Pneumonia. Unfortunately, he has a bounce back weekend that gave us hope, but the he the pneumonia was so bad with coughing he couldn't swallow as he had had this for 7 days before seeing a doctor - only when we called to have the ambulance take him. We called, THEY did not. There are many mistakes I've made in life. Choosing this nursing home, to take care of my father I count among the worst mistakes of my adult life. They they knew he had MS, with the #1 cause of death being Pneumonia - which they assured me they knew what that looked like.... well, they ignored his pleas for a doctor and - while MS complications are what killed him, with Pneumonia - their lack of care was the reason he lost perhaps 6-12 months of life. The only reason I did not sue is I was advised by lawyers that the case was not strong enough as he was already pretty sick, and we knew Covid and or Pneumonia would have to be aggressively treated if found. We also abided by his instructions that he did not want to be intubated, because the odds of people with secondary progressive MS coming back from that was less than 1% If you are looking for a place to die, they're a place that has kind workers that may make that happen. For us, in the end, they proved to be completely incompetent and cost me months perhaps a year more with my father. Consider this a warning. BTW, Medicare, once we were able to apply for it, approved his care post-mortem. He literally wasn't there long enough for the paperwork to be able to be filed and approved.

When I checked online to see if Medina was open, I saw nothing to indicate otherwise. But when I arrived, there was a sign on the door saying they were closed due to Covid. This is fine, although I would have thought hearing aids were an essential business. Also, there was someone working in the office. So I called the local number which went to a national service telling me to contact Twinsburg. Feeling somewhat frustrated, I did so. And I have to commend Janine at the Twinsburg office for going out of her way to help me avoid a drive to Twinsburg. She offered several alternative solutions resulting in an appointment on Tuesday in Medina. Thanks very much to Janine for all the help. I truly appreciate the great customer service.

I was able to speak to Janine in the Twinsburg office and she suggested I bring it in. She is covering multiple locations, but was flexible so that I was able to meet her at the Twinsburg office. Due to Covid, she came to the car to retrieve the hearing aid. She determined it would have to be mailed to the factory and I worried how my dad would be able to get to the office to pick it up. At 94, none of us want him driving far. I was so relieved when she offered to drop it off at his house when it came back! That is incredible customer service! Beltone has an amazing employee!

The nursing staff was responsive to his every need and checked on him frequently. The pastoral care he received was equally wonderful. Sister Margaret Mary, in particular, was so warm and loving toward him, and I was touched by her kindness. I'm sure she brought him much comfort! In addition, I was pleasantly surprised by how the staff took such good care of my family and I while we kept vigil in my dad's room. Between my brother, my mom and myself, we never left his side on the weekend he passed. The staff saw to it that I had a pillow and blanket to keep me comfortable while I slept there overnight, and they also brought me a phone charger when I needed it. One day, a staff member cooked my mom a grilled cheese sandwich just for her, because she knew she needed to eat. They promised us they would do anything they could for us, and they certainly did! When my dad passed away, we were all given a hug by our wonderful nurse, and given reassurance that he was no longer in pain. I could tell that one of the other nurses present was fighting back tears, which touched me, as well, knowing that I was not alone in my grief. I really just can't say enough good things about the wonderful people working there who make it their mission to provide comfort and care to their patients and their families. And the facility, itself, is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. Nobody wants to have to bring their loved one to a hospice, but if you should find yourself looking for a facility to provide palliative care for your family member, you really couldn't ask for a place better than Holy Family.

I trusted NV to care for my grandmother from Jan 2025-March 2025. NEVER send your family member here. Despite an extremely responsive and genuinely concerned social worker (Amanda) and Bookkeeper (Jennifer), I was shocked to experience the rudeness and ridiculousness of clinical staff (except for sweet Latoya, who is mentioned below). I witnessed personally nurses aides come in (this would happen typically evenings and weekends) and turn the call light OFF, and then not come back for several HOURS. My grandmother actually developed a BED SORE from not being turned as directed by physician, and of course, from not having her briefs changed. So she would just sit and sit in her briefs while her wound festered. The DON, Winnie, is NURSE RATCHETT herself. Winnie is rude and aloof, and needs to do something else. I personally felt treated like a child the last night I was there, simply seeking to get the scripts my grandmother needed for her out of town flight to join me in another state. She ignored me and her supervising physician, Dr. Rajesh Agarwal, is just as unprofessional, as he takes his sweet time to send anything over. Complaining to the facility administrator is a waste of time (no responses to calls or emails). The only positives were Amanda (social work), who truly cares about her clients, Jennifer (Bookkeeper) who is extremely responsive and helped me out just to keep an extra eye on my grandma. Latoya, a wonderful PCA, accompanied my grandma on her outpatient dr appts, and loved on my grandma as if she were her own. I recommend that the few good people there, Amanda, Jennifer, and Latoya, escape so that their good efforts arent brought down around the disgusting attitude of the majority. Heed my warning, and go with Light of Hearts Villa in Bedford, or Anna Maria/Kensington of Aurora, and pray they can get you in. Sending a caregiver hug!
