My father was in need of Medicaid as he was suffering from MS. Yes, he was already advanced in his MS after struggling with it for over 20 years. However he was of good mind but needed advanced care. In March 2023 we moved him to the Manor and their care was decent through April. However when my father became Ill, with what he thought was maybe a bad cold, he asked for a doctor. The nurses did not have a doctor come to see him, as he came, but passed him by, by mistake. Two days later, my father calls me - has a terrible cough, I called and asked the front desk to make sure he gets the doctor on Thursday - they assured me he was in good hands. The doctor doesn't come on Thursday - Friday my mother, who was also not feeling well goes to check up on him and he is deathly ill. They missed the window for someone who had Pneumonia to get him a doctor, despite him asking for one twice that week, and tried to pawn it off as unnecessary. Of course, he goes to the doctor and he has Pneumonia. Unfortunately, he has a bounce back weekend that gave us hope, but the he the pneumonia was so bad with coughing he couldn't swallow as he had had this for 7 days before seeing a doctor - only when we called to have the ambulance take him. We called, THEY did not. There are many mistakes I've made in life. Choosing this nursing home, to take care of my father I count among the worst mistakes of my adult life. They they knew he had MS, with the #1 cause of death being Pneumonia - which they assured me they knew what that looked like.... well, they ignored his pleas for a doctor and - while MS complications are what killed him, with Pneumonia - their lack of care was the reason he lost perhaps 6-12 months of life. The only reason I did not sue is I was advised by lawyers that the case was not strong enough as he was already pretty sick, and we knew Covid and or Pneumonia would have to be aggressively treated if found. We also abided by his instructions that he did not want to be intubated, because the odds of people with secondary progressive MS coming back from that was less than 1% If you are looking for a place to die, they're a place that has kind workers that may make that happen. For us, in the end, they proved to be completely incompetent and cost me months perhaps a year more with my father. Consider this a warning. BTW, Medicare, once we were able to apply for it, approved his care post-mortem. He literally wasn't there long enough for the paperwork to be able to be filed and approved. read more

My husband was in this facility. Horrible place. Ignorant nurse's aides. Filthy rooms and total neglect to the patients.

I would Not send A Dog to this facility!! when I picked up my husband he was Nasty! His room was Filthy, Bags of dirty clothes everywhere!! And they Promised to clean them. If you are unable to visit your Loved One on a regular basis This is Not the place to send them!! read more

My brother was sent there for rehab. He also has cancer and his first appointment with Seidman Cancer Center was missed by Aurora Manor and he was set back two weeks to start a cancer treatment. He missed another appointment for a scan because transport messed that appointment up. Finally made it to another appointment to put a Port in and he wasn't suppose to eat but Aurora didn't bother to check requirements for this appointment. Aurora runs out of beverages for the residents. They get hung up on the same breakfast for weeks at a time, any cooked meat can't be cut or chewed. Never saw a housekeeper cleaning rooms. Garbage left for days. My brother was going down hill unable to eat the horrible food served! Finally got him out of there and with in two weeks was alert and eating healthy. Avoid at all cost. My parent had a stay Aurora manor for 3 weeks. First the good: for the most part the staff was pleasant and kind. Caregivers and administrators alike. The therapy was also quite good, and I found the OT in particular to be very good, kind and attentive . Some of the issues: the floors in both the bedroom and the bathroom were not kept clean. The linens were often soiled. The trash was often overflowing. The trash cans are tiny and do not accommodate bladder control pads, etc. The TVs really could be larger ; they are tiny and far from the resident- this is their only entertainment while they are there. The biggest issue , however, is the shortage of caregivers. Residents that cannot get up to the bathroom by themselves were often left waiting, and frequently my parent didn't get there in time. This is common in most of these facilities, and it is unfortunate. It made the experience very difficult for my parent. As more of the population ages, more folks will need these facilities from time to time. More staff and a little more compassion would go a very long way in making their stay tolerable. read more

We are so appreciative of everyone at Aurora Manor for the wonderful care they gave our mother. Unlike the previous review, we always found our mother clean and well dressed. My brother and I have irregular schedules, so we visited at many different days and hours during the week. We both agree that Mom always looked wonderful, as did the other residents we observed. The staff spoke so lovingly and patiently to my mother when she was having good days and even when she was acting out due to her dementia. The facility was also spotless, even the bathroom. We ate lunch or dinner together often and the food was more than plentiful and very good. We do highly recommend Aurora Manor; from our first visit to our last this week, we knew that our mother's last days had been spent in a place where she was known, cared for and highly respected.
