What a great find. We were walking around near my hotel one night looking for a place and happened upon Twist. one of the best stops in London on this trip. Spanish, tapas-style in a cozy, bustling but warm environment standouts were octopus, black garlic risotto and lamb chops. service was outstanding. even though it's a bit cramped, the waiters and waitresses did a great job getting around and staying friendly can't wait to go back! read more

Prices are really high considering they're tapas dishes and about 5-6 need to be ordered per 2 person table (at £10-£14 per pop). However you can save quite a bit by ordering bread and sides instead which are more filling (carby) and half the price. The dishes we ordered were good but they didn't leave my tastebuds wowing. A twist on Tapas. A great place to experience meat with wonderful flavours. This place is an example of how good produce can generate spectacular dishes. Again, a non-fussy place where the chef looks at the ingredients he uses in order to serve the best food on plate. This place is 15 mins walking from where I live and I have crossed it so many times. Never have I noticed this place, when I did, my husband and I landed here and grabbed lunch. Like most tapas places in London, this place is quite expensive too, but at least the food is very different and the best. Highly recommend this place. read more

I was craving jamón iberico, and found this restaurant close to the hotel. Wandered in around 9 hoping to snag a table. Unfortunately we were turned away at the door. However, I was able to find a reservation on line, and just waited 15 minutes, and returned with no problem. I'm glad I did. Everything: from the wine, to the jamón, to the plates, was delicious. We cleaned our plates and closed down the place. This is a meal that I have told stories about when recounting my trip to London. read more

I live a two minute walk away but for some reason had not come across this place. I am going to keep this short as I am rushing but could not let the week pass without posting about how fantastic this place is. The quality of food is outstanding, service immaculate and ambience perfect. I went back two days later with my 'foodie' kids (22 and 25) and they were equally impressed. Brilliant overall! i hardly ever give five stars. my reluctance is not out of stinginess, rather it is my reluctance to indicate to an establishment that there is no way to improve; you're the top; you're a hot tamale. but in the case of Twist i'll make the exception as the law of big numbers will come into effect and normalize the rating. maths aside, we found Twist to be exceptional in most every way, and the fact that we veritably stumbled across it made the evening more magical. room was packed, save for one small table, at 10pm on Friday. very friendly and gracious waiter (Pietro) managed us into the open table with flourish and a smile. menus and water followed quickly, and after a couple of glasses of (organic) prosecco, the real fun began. being first time diners at Twist we prevailed upon Pietro's recommendations and were not disappointed. and in the case of the skirt steak, we were completely delighted. eschewing the mains on the back of the menu, we went with tapas, as might be expected. blistered padrones were an excellent warm up and then straight into the courgettes flowers a la tempura (sublime!) the pasta with crusted crab was a perfect al dente preparation and a lovely complement to the nice and garlicky skirt steak mentioned earlier (which also featured mini cilantro garnish; terrif.) but the mark of a great tapas bar (even one that is a spanish/italian hybrid) is the iberico jamon. they have two options: 24 and 36 months aged. we opted for the older brother and we were well impressed. the small portion was right sized, as was everything, and they went very well with the nice priced bottle of Tempranillo they had top of the menu. and just when we thought we could eat no more, Pietro's colleague suggested that Fleur de Sel chocolate tart. OMG, the BOMB. m( _ _ )m in this area there are few fine places to eat, and no places better than Twist. read more

3.5 would be more accurate. Although Tapas is the new game in town, some are native some are not. Chef is creative and has a few hits on the menu, but the non-spanish inspiration is sometimes unsettling. Please sort out your ham providers, the quality is fine, the prices outrageous. These animals could well be spending their life in a spa and eat gold leaves, the bill would be the same ! Seriously... Service is just Ok. read more

Twist at Crawford in Marylebone, near Edgware Road tube station, does outstanding Spanish tapas. Delicious meats, great flavours, lovely service - definitely a restaurant I will visit again. Spanish Tapas restaurant Twist at Crawford opened in early 2015, bringing more excellent Spanish food to Marylebone. The decoration is very typical for new openings these days, industrial shabby-chic, exposed brick walls, hipster light bulbs. A combination that should perhaps best be forbidden outside designated areas of urban edginess. Still, Twist in beautiful Marylebone somehow manages to add a little bit of Spanish authenticity to the mix beyond the standard urban-cool decoration. Staff were very friendly and helpful in the selection of dishes and continued to deliver good service throughout my visit. I started with a white wine, the Madregale Bianco Chardonnay-Trebbiano 2013. They had more interesting wines on the menu, but unfortunately they were only available by the bottle. That said, the Chardonnay-Trebbiano was an enjoyable wine, and surprisingly one of the waiters complimented my choice, as in some parts of Italy, people would also drink white wine with cured meat, he explained. Good to know - often, people expect that you have to drink a red wine with cured meat and cheese. The first dish that arrived at my table was the Paleta iberica de bellota D.O. Reserva 24 months. This basically means, that it was an extensively matured Iberican black pig ham, and as the menu added, it is "nominated best jamon in the world". I am not a big fan of fatty meat, but in this case, the thinky sliced ham tasted great and the fat just added to the flavour. The meat was served with thin, crispy Sardinian bread. I was a bit skeptical first and ordered a bread basket in addition to these thin bread chips, but really, the ham and this Sardinian bread was a perfect combination. The other two kinds of bread were too sweet and too dense for my liking. Not long after the ham, my second plate arrived, roasted chicken thighs, chili, honey and toasted macadamia almonds. I was prepared for chicken pieces on the bone, but was happy to see only boneless chicken, as I find it in general much easier to eat without having to cut around the bones. More importantly, the chicken thighs were one of the best chicken dishes I can remember. The juicy chicken and the sweet sauce together were a heavenly blend of flavours. Finally, the slightly sweet cumin bread also came to good use, when I soaked the remaining chicken sauce up with it, after I had finished the chicken thighs. I rounded off my meal with the lovely fleur de sel chocolate tart. A cold, rich delight with a strong chocolate taste and a pinch of salt. The individual dishes were small, as you expect for tapas, but two of them were filling and left enough space for the dessert. Overall, I was very happy with the portion sizes as well as the friendly and competent service. read more

I was only in London for two days and I regret that I wasn't able to do more. When I return I definitely won't do any of things I did during this trip again... except eat here. It is INCREDIBLE. Everything we tried was fantastic, but one item really stood out: the fried courgette flowers with ricotta, mint, lemon, and honey... I wish I could eat it every day!! Other highlights included the sea scallops, octopus, black ink gnocchi, carmamelised pork belly, carpaccio, and the lamb chops. I'm sure we ate more than I can remember but it was all delicious. Tapas made by an Italian. An interesting little restaurant . Very friendly staff and a cosy environment with the Spanish feeling present throughout. The courgette flowers with ricolleta cheese was my favourite dish. The gnocchi special with pumpkin was lovely but too few gnocchi. A siciliana red was the life blood that was present through the meal and ensured a very entertaining evening. read more

A great small space, filled with local flavor. Warm lighting and wood tables fill the space. Food is filled with locally sourced ingredients. Quinoa salad was well textured and accented with spice. The food was absolutely impeccable, the service was good, and the noise level was borderline obnoxious. We came for a special occasion and were seated downstairs - not recommended for a romantic date as the noise from neighboring tables gets amplified beyond comfort. Luckily they were happy to relocate us upstairs, where the noise level was more bearable. When the cocktails and food came, we nearly forgot about the noise. The skirt steak literally left us speechless as we sa voted every bite. In the end, the food is really outstanding and it's worth suffering through the loud crowd. read more

Absolutely amazing food, great atmosphere that was unfortunately hampered by a very pushy waitress who was trying to turn over tables quicker than necessary. We managed to change waitresses and then got excellent service! The truffled tortelli were a winner with everyone, as were the cheese and charcuterie selection. Would greatly recommend. read more

Average tapas, ordered a pasta dish that wasn't particularly flavourful and a sardines appetiser that consisted of a sardine over two (quite dry) pieces of bread. Quite expensive for what it is (though it is in Marylebone..) and staff weren't particularly friendly or accommodating. Also went on a warm day and it was very stuffy inside. read more

I'm treated like family at Twist, but any tendency for being biased for that reason notwithstanding, every dish I've had here is subtly, exquisitely, and creatively flavored and prepared. The prices are reasonable, and the service is top-notch. read more
