BBQ was good and had a couple lows. First - we got a chance to taste test the brisket and pulled pork before ordering. Pulled pork was ok; to me was a little simple seemed like only salt and pepper on the rub. The brisket was excellent though! Really moist and tender. That led us to order the brisket tacos and my son ordered the ribs, after much selling by the guy in the truck on how good they were. The ribs had a nice flavor very smokey. They're spare ribs which in my opinion is an inferior cut and were very fatty. We ended up taking them home and off the bone and was delicious that way. The tacos were very good. Came with a bbq salsa type sauce. Sauce was good, tacos didn't need it - too vinegary for brisket. Main thing we would change is corn tortilla vs flour, but the tortilla was toasted nicely. read more

@twistedokiebbq made a stop in my neighborhood for #foodtruckfriday. They offer some tasty BBQ out of their truck. I got the Brisket Loaded Baked Potato and The Big Pig. The loaded potato is a huge baked potato topped with smoked brisket, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, and smoky BBQ sauce. This thing was well over a pound of food. Plenty for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. The Big Pig is a whole smoked sausage topped with pulled pork, smoky BBQ sauce, shredded cheese, and bacon. And I got a side of fried corn nuggets. They were at Food Truck Friday here in Nocatee last night so we swung by for some to take home. I got the 2 meat combo with 2 sides. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious and their pulled pork was tender and favorful. I also got the beans and fried okra. Both good! Hubby got the Jo Jo sandwich and all I can say is I watched him devour it and say, "man that was good"! Nuff said. They started selling a bit early which was appreciated since I had been thinking about it all day. I have eaten with this food truck several times and always the same outcome. Amid all of the COVID-19 chaos, confusion, concern and fear that is currently within our community, it was refreshing to see people out and supporting our local small business owners. The food truck came to our neighborhood tonight and we were relieved to have something we didn't cook. To start, the menu was limited to items that can be prepared quickly, this ensured we adhered to social distancing and line's didn't start to form. The food we ordered was ready promptly and was hot and fresh! The person taking our order was very pleasant and helpful to make our ordering quick and easy. I ordered the brisket tacos. They were perfect! And the sauce they had with it on the side was SOOO good. I wish I have more. I literally dunked my taco in it every bite! I had fried okra on the side. It'd been years since I had fried okra so I was very excited that it was even an option! It was good but the breading was a little heavy and not seasoned as well as I'd hoped. I will try a different side next time. My daughter, who isn't a big meat eater, but LOVES baked potatoes settled on the loaded baked potato with brisket. She DEVOURED it. That thing didn't stand a chance. I think she has now been converted and this won't be the last time she will eat brisket. My husband got the brisket sandwich. He moaned with pleasure at every bite. Safe to say he enjoyed it. He even picked at everyone else's plate of food when he was done. He just couldn't get enough! Twisted Okie is a food truck that sometimes comes near my office. One day I decided to venture over and decided to try their twisted fries with brisket. The brisket itself wasn't bad but I was disappointed by the bbq sauce. First, they put so much on that it was all I could taste, second, they use a store bought sauce which I personally feel is too tangy. I would try it again but would go without the bbq'd sauce so I can taste the meat. They do accept debit and credit cards which is useful for someone like me who seldom carries cash. New year, new truck, less food and just warm at that. The fact that I barely was able to take a picture of the menu board after ordering should have been clue number one. (Pro tip, if you go to this truck ask for fresh fries, not sure if they will make them fresh, but it's better than the alternative). So I've been to this truck before (maybe three times or so last year) and kept going back because everything was always hot and and the portions were great. But today... just wasn't good. Food wasn't hot. And the portion of pork was laughable. I've gotten more real meat out a McDonald's happy meal. Not sure if there's a new truck new attitude going on but for $8 I expect hot food and a serving of protein. I went back in like January and it had not changed. 3 Stars for past experiences being good, but after this time not sure if it's gettin added back into my rotation. read more

I've order from this food truck twice. First time about 3-4 years ago then yesterday. I did not get the wow factor when I ate here the first time, but I just forgot to leave a review. They were parked somewhat near my office yesterday, so I took the walk and order the ¼ ribs with a side of corn nuggets. I thought the sweet BBQ was good, corn nuggets were okay, and ribs were meh. It's hard to miss this enormous Food trailer and you'll be glad you didn't. They're known for their brisket and ribs which I have had both and both are fantastic. What did it for me today tho was their pork tacos. The pork is so tender and juicy, on flour tortillas, dressed Tex-mex style. Absolutely delicious! Wow - I LOVE Ribs.....and these were awesome......Meaty, tender, flavorful......fantastic... Only a fellow fatman can understand how I was feeling 3 huge meaty ribs in to my 4 rib meal (actually, 2nd meal...got a sandwich from another food truck...)....I was sad that I was full because I wanted to eat more....were almost as good nuked for 30 seconds the next morning (Ribs - it's what's for Breakfast......) the food was decent but they were so rude. i'm a fairly shy person but you can't tell from how i order food, i talk at a normal volume and have no problems ordering and interacting with who's taking my order. i ordered at this food truck and had no problems with the guy who took it, then i went to get my drink from the guys under the tent. it was a loud event so i showed them my receipt where the cashier had circled "1 sweet tea" while i said "hi it's just one tea". they just stared at me. then he said "what?!" i said one tea louder. he said "you gotta speak up i cant hear you what?!!!" i said a tea, but got so embarrassed and uncomfortable at how he was yelling asking that it showed on my face and i got a little upset. he seemed to feel kind of bad and was asking "you okay? okay is it me? is it him? okay as long as it's not me" and started trying to joke around so i tried to let it go. i'd been over in that area for about one minute when i headed over to the truck window to wait for my food. i saw another guy in the truck come to the window literally seconds before i could walk up once i got my tea. i walked right up and started to wait and the guy came to the window and looked at me. he said what's your name? i said my name loudly and he literally screamed "WHAT?!" and i said it AGAIN louder and he screamed WHAT????? even louder. i started to wonder if this was one of those places where they treat u badly as a joke and i just didn't realize it, but it's not. he was screaming it so loud that my bf got annoyed and screamed my name back to him. the guy then said yeah well i called your name once already and you weren't up here. he was so rude for no reason, i was literally getting my sweet tea from the guys at your tent and literally a minute had passed. keep in mind no one else was waiting on their food but me at that moment so why he felt the need to change embarrass me screaming asking my name like that i dont know. he wasn't joking either. i'm a little sensitive but i tried to brush things off the first time, but after that second guy i couldn't help but start crying in front of everyone at the event as i walked away. it was so embarrassing and unnecessary that it distracted from how the food even tasted and i almost lost my appetite. i work in a service job too, how hard is it to ask your customer "i'm sorry could you repeat that?" if you cant hear. if he apparently already called my name, maybe he's the one that needs to speak up lol read more

As a self professed BBQ snob, I wasn't sure what to expect from a Midwestern BBQ truck. I wasn't disappointed. I got a protein platter consisting of pulled pork, Brisket, and spare ribs. I also tried their BBQ beans and fried okra sides. The pork and Brisket where both moist and tender. The ribs were done Competition style, tender but not falling off the bone (good thing). All proteins were seasoned well and delivered unsauced, perfect for me because I like to be able to sauce as much or little as I like. Kevin and Kristi gave me sauce but it wasn't needed. The beans are hearty with plenty of meat in them, and very tasty. The fried okra was crisp and hot with good amount of breaking. I'll have to try their tacos and loaded potatoes next visit! Let me start with I know a thing about bbq. Maybe since I own 4 smokers and have been using them for about 15 years now. I hear a lot from this bbq place and that bbq joint. Well this truck Twisted Okie made the same statement. Then like most that say it it is a big fail. Tonight I went with owner and pit boss Kevin Hopfer suggestion. The 4 bone ribs set up with the house sauce. Ok first off the ribs were tough and I mean hard to pull apart with your hands yet use your teeth. I will say that they had some descent flavor from the 15K smoker. A Southern Pride brand smoker that is propane fueled and well you just throw a log in every now and then. But then I'm not there when this thing is being used. I do know a bunch of people that own these smokers and most don't produce great Q in my book. The truck is pretty nice and has a cool wrap on it. The inside looks pretty tight too. I will probably stop into this truck again just because I'm a self proclaimed food truck junkie or in some circles Stalker. Which ever I'll run with it. read more

Noticed these guys at Art Walk and we decided to give them a try. I tried the pulled pork with fries, the owner let me know that his bbq didn't need sauce but he had three different varieties if I wanted some. I opted for no sauce and I must say, he was absolutely right! The pork was completely moist and delicious without it. The fries were well seasoned and hot. I have no complaints about the meal. I also appreciated how friendly the owners were. I notice from their FB page that they are out often and in different places/parts of town. I hate when I'm craving a certain meal from a food truck and they never seem to be around. All in all it was a very positive experience and I look forward to stopping by again soon! read more

I love basically every meal on this truck. I always get something new and it satisfies my BBQ craving on a greater level than the plain ole chain BBQ resturants. I love loaded fries no matter the toppings and this truck even offers a loaded baked potatoe! The loaded potatoe was my first meal here ever and that started the addiction. These great folks catered our wedding and it was a hot! Not only are they genuinely nice people, but the food was FANTASTIC! Their portions are large so no one left hungry.
