    Brisket sandwich

Amid all of the COVID-19 chaos, confusion, concern and fear that is currently within our community, it was refreshing to see people out and supporting our local small business owners. The food truck came to our neighborhood tonight and we were relieved to have something we didn't cook. To start, the menu was limited to items that can be prepared quickly, this ensured we adhered to social distancing and line's didn't start to form. The food we ordered was ready promptly and was hot and fresh! The person taking our order was very pleasant and helpful to make our ordering quick and easy. I ordered the brisket tacos. They were perfect! And the sauce they had with it on the side was SOOO good. I wish I have more. I literally dunked my taco in it every bite! I had fried okra on the side. It'd been years since I had fried okra so I was very excited that it was even an option! It was good but the breading was a little heavy and not seasoned as well as I'd hoped. I will try a different side next time. My daughter, who isn't a big meat eater, but LOVES baked potatoes settled on the loaded baked potato with brisket. She DEVOURED it. That thing didn't stand a chance. I think she has now been converted and this won't be the last time she will eat brisket. My husband got the brisket sandwich. He moaned with pleasure at every bite. Safe to say he enjoyed it. He even picked at everyone else's plate of food when he was done. He just couldn't get enough! All in all it was a great dining experience and would recommend and definitely go again! Thank you for coming out Okie!

The food is so good at this food truck! I always get the brisket and blue cheese tacos with corn nuggets. You cannot go wrong!

I have tried this food truck a couple of times and each time I just remember thinking that they must have it together in that kitchen because the line moves so quick. The food I've had is always top notch. The tacos are a true winner. I have tried the award winning barbecue brisket tacos and the regular brisket tacos and they are both are great. The spare ribs are next on my list if I can have tacos too. :)

Twisted Okie was one of many food trucks that came to my school, and it definitely looked the best of the bunch and it really was good! Tender and juicy meat!

Twisted Okie is a food truck that sometimes comes near my office. One day I decided to venture over and decided to try their twisted fries with brisket. The brisket itself wasn't bad but I was disappointed by the bbq sauce. First, they put so much on that it was all I could taste, second, they use a store bought sauce which I personally feel is too tangy. I would try it again but would go without the bbq'd sauce so I can taste the meat. They do accept debit and credit cards which is useful for someone like me who seldom carries cash. The service was fine and the gentlemen who took my order was nice enough.

New year, new truck, less food and just warm at that. The fact that I barely was able to take a picture of the menu board after ordering should have been clue number one. (Pro tip, if you go to this truck ask for fresh fries, not sure if they will make them fresh, but it's better than the alternative). So I've been to this truck before (maybe three times or so last year) and kept going back because everything was always hot and and the portions were great. But today... just wasn't good. Food wasn't hot. And the portion of pork was laughable. I've gotten more real meat out a McDonald's happy meal. Not sure if there's a new truck new attitude going on but for $8 I expect hot food and a serving of protein. I went back in like January and it had not changed. 3 Stars for past experiences being good, but after this time not sure if it's gettin added back into my rotation.

I guess this is what's available?

I've order from this food truck twice. First time about 3-4 years ago then yesterday. I did not get the wow factor when I ate here the first time, but I just forgot to leave a review. They were parked somewhat near my office yesterday, so I took the walk and order the ¼ ribs with a side of corn nuggets. I thought the sweet BBQ was good, corn nuggets were okay, and ribs were meh. I might come back and give them another shot one day but I wouldn't recommend.

I'm a 5'4, average weight Asian girl but don't let that fool you. I can eat for days. With that being said, I wish I was wealthy enough to pay the Twisted Oakie to follow me around. I'd have a bell and a piece of hog heaven would be thrown directly at my mouth when I ring it. But, I don't live in that blissful world so I'll settle for the 50 steps I have to trek every Friday to his food truck. I'm a simple woman, folks. I get the same thing every time. Because if it ain't broke, why fix it? I always get the 2 ribs with a side. Gold sauce on the side with plenty of napkins. Being true to his roots and southern hospitality, Kevin would always throw an extra rib in there. You are a God, sir. We don't deserve you! This is a family affair. I believe his wife and kids are also in on the business of feeding people. I would always see their smiling faces when I get my food. Can ya'll adopt me? I mean, I'll eat all the left overs. Please be around for a long time. I adore all of you. Yeeehhaawww!!!!

It's hard to miss this enormous Food trailer and you'll be glad you didn't. They're known for their brisket and ribs which I have had both and both are fantastic. What did it for me today tho was their pork tacos. The pork is so tender and juicy, on flour tortillas, dressed Tex-mex style. Absolutely delicious! The service was friendly and speedy and the output is always quality. Hunt these guys down for your next bbq or taco fix.

I put in my order and paid right from the menu boards! For the best part is, I put in my phone number and received a text when my food was ready, so I didn't have to listen around for my name. After a short wait, my food was delivered, and I noticed a small container of red sauce included with the meal. I wasn't sure what it was at first, so I tried it with my fries. I originally thought it was curry, but it had more of a thin, runny consistency with a spicy kick. It worked okay with the fries, but I chose not to put it on the gyro. Unfortunately, the fries were the biggest disappointment. They were extremely salty and mostly made up of the small broken pieces you usually find at the bottom of the bag. The gyro itself was good, especially after adding some white sauce my friend received with her order. We ordered the exact same meal, so I was surprised that she received three different sauces while I only received one. Overall, my first experience with 904 Saffron was lacking. Between the overly salty fries and the inconsistency with the orders, I expected a little more for a meal that cost over $15.

Yes, I'm talking about eating at the food truck called On the Fly. Calling it a food truck is in this number, I'm not sure what you would call. It is fabulous. Now let's start off with the negatives, parking is not as easy as it is for most lunch places, but it's really not that bad if you know what you're doing. There are plenty of slots on the street before you get to the restaurant, and if you called ahead and are just picking up then you can park in the reserve lot, where On the Fly is located. Now these spaces are reserved for lawyers going to the courthouse, which is nearby. So you can't park there here all day, but if you're just stopping in for lunch or if you've called ahead or just picking up takeout, then you should be fine. If you're in someone's spot, the first place to look is the restaurant, so just know you may have to move fairly quickly. For me, I like to call in advance, place my order, and then Park in one of the spaces. Then I pick up my food and go and I'm only there for five minutes. Now that that's all out of the way, let's talk about some of the best food that you will have in Jaxonville. On the Fly sauce - I think this is made by a team of leprechauns they keep in the back of the food truck. Because it comes out so fresh, so delicious, and if they sold it by the gallon, I would be numero Uno in buying it. Blue chips - a great starter chips and blue cheese, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and delicious. Firecracker Sesame seared Tuna - another solid performer, it has some kick to it, although the tuna is always perfectly cooked. Sweet and spicy quesadilla - oh my God, this dishes as close to heaven as I think I will ever get to. The chicken is so tender and put into a tortilla with caramelized onions, banana peppers, and covered in On the Fly sauce. I don't know how but this works so well you cannot imagine. As I drove into the Bartram clubhouse parking lot, I was happy to see the truck still there. The service window was open, and there were no visible signs indicating that you were closed. I walked up, took a moment to look over the menu, and was ready to place a fairly large order. Unfortunately, before I could say a word, I was abruptly waved away by a staff member who told me they were closed--in a tone that came across as dismissive and unwelcoming. I completely understand that closing time is closing time, and there may have been circumstances I wasn't aware of. However, customer service doesn't end the moment service stops. A brief, courteous explanation or even a simple apology would have made a big difference in how that interaction felt. I came ready and excited to support your business, but instead left without food and with a very negative impression. As a military veteran who has spent time in Okinawa, I have a deep appreciation for food that brings back meaningful memories, and I make a point to support businesses that offer that connection. I hope this feedback is taken constructively. Great food is only part of the experience--how customers are treated, even in brief interactions, leaves a lasting impression. Thank you for your time.

I ended up ordering the coconut shrimp, which the person who took my order said was one of their specialties and I added on the coconut hush puppies. Given that they had a huge sign saying that their cheese balls were amazing, I grabbed an order the mozzarella ones as well. I must admit that I was a little confused as to why a seafood place was selling cheese balls...but, oh well, I love fried cheese. I was told that since I hadn't placed my order online ahead of time, as I didn't know that was an option, my order would take 52 minutes. I was given a time to return to the truck. Nearly an hour wait is a long time for truck food. I tend to think of food trucks as a great go-to for a quick meal. I mean, even an hour wait in a restaurant for food is a ridiculously long time. Nevertheless, I agreed and paid. My order was ready right on time! I was able to skip the line when I arrived back there and received their text and everything was correct when I checked the boxes before leaving. Nearly everything was also overly fried including the french fries which were dark in color, hard, and difficult to eat. The shrimp were large and nicely breaded and they had a good flavor to them. But the coconut hush puppies were burnt in places and had no appreciable seasoning or flavor aside from coconut pieces. I guess I was expecting the usual spices in a hush puppy with the addition of coconut. And the cheese "balls" were melted discs of breading around some of the cheese. They were still edible but not what was advertised. I remember trying a brie ball from Nomi's Cheese Bar at Gastrofest years ago and what I got was much more successful back then (see pic). It looks like these companies have merged or perhaps they are the same folks?!?! The issues on the night that I went may have been because of the crowd or because their oil temperature was too high. I wish I had tried something that didn't require a fryer to be able to better asses their flavors. This truck seems to have potential but I just didn't have a great experience, particularly given the relatively high costs of the food.

I shared the order of four with my niece. The haddock exceeded my expectations! The piece of fish was huge so I split it into two meals.
