    Brisket sandwich

Amid all of the COVID-19 chaos, confusion, concern and fear that is currently within our community, it was refreshing to see people out and supporting our local small business owners. The food truck came to our neighborhood tonight and we were relieved to have something we didn't cook. To start, the menu was limited to items that can be prepared quickly, this ensured we adhered to social distancing and line's didn't start to form. The food we ordered was ready promptly and was hot and fresh! The person taking our order was very pleasant and helpful to make our ordering quick and easy. I ordered the brisket tacos. They were perfect! And the sauce they had with it on the side was SOOO good. I wish I have more. I literally dunked my taco in it every bite! I had fried okra on the side. It'd been years since I had fried okra so I was very excited that it was even an option! It was good but the breading was a little heavy and not seasoned as well as I'd hoped. I will try a different side next time. My daughter, who isn't a big meat eater, but LOVES baked potatoes settled on the loaded baked potato with brisket. She DEVOURED it. That thing didn't stand a chance. I think she has now been converted and this won't be the last time she will eat brisket. My husband got the brisket sandwich. He moaned with pleasure at every bite. Safe to say he enjoyed it. He even picked at everyone else's plate of food when he was done. He just couldn't get enough! All in all it was a great dining experience and would recommend and definitely go again! Thank you for coming out Okie!

The food is so good at this food truck! I always get the brisket and blue cheese tacos with corn nuggets. You cannot go wrong!

I have tried this food truck a couple of times and each time I just remember thinking that they must have it together in that kitchen because the line moves so quick. The food I've had is always top notch. The tacos are a true winner. I have tried the award winning barbecue brisket tacos and the regular brisket tacos and they are both are great. The spare ribs are next on my list if I can have tacos too. :)

Twisted Okie was one of many food trucks that came to my school, and it definitely looked the best of the bunch and it really was good! Tender and juicy meat!

Twisted Okie is a food truck that sometimes comes near my office. One day I decided to venture over and decided to try their twisted fries with brisket. The brisket itself wasn't bad but I was disappointed by the bbq sauce. First, they put so much on that it was all I could taste, second, they use a store bought sauce which I personally feel is too tangy. I would try it again but would go without the bbq'd sauce so I can taste the meat. They do accept debit and credit cards which is useful for someone like me who seldom carries cash. The service was fine and the gentlemen who took my order was nice enough.

New year, new truck, less food and just warm at that. The fact that I barely was able to take a picture of the menu board after ordering should have been clue number one. (Pro tip, if you go to this truck ask for fresh fries, not sure if they will make them fresh, but it's better than the alternative). So I've been to this truck before (maybe three times or so last year) and kept going back because everything was always hot and and the portions were great. But today... just wasn't good. Food wasn't hot. And the portion of pork was laughable. I've gotten more real meat out a McDonald's happy meal. Not sure if there's a new truck new attitude going on but for $8 I expect hot food and a serving of protein. I went back in like January and it had not changed. 3 Stars for past experiences being good, but after this time not sure if it's gettin added back into my rotation.

I guess this is what's available?

I've order from this food truck twice. First time about 3-4 years ago then yesterday. I did not get the wow factor when I ate here the first time, but I just forgot to leave a review. They were parked somewhat near my office yesterday, so I took the walk and order the ¼ ribs with a side of corn nuggets. I thought the sweet BBQ was good, corn nuggets were okay, and ribs were meh. I might come back and give them another shot one day but I wouldn't recommend.

I'm a 5'4, average weight Asian girl but don't let that fool you. I can eat for days. With that being said, I wish I was wealthy enough to pay the Twisted Oakie to follow me around. I'd have a bell and a piece of hog heaven would be thrown directly at my mouth when I ring it. But, I don't live in that blissful world so I'll settle for the 50 steps I have to trek every Friday to his food truck. I'm a simple woman, folks. I get the same thing every time. Because if it ain't broke, why fix it? I always get the 2 ribs with a side. Gold sauce on the side with plenty of napkins. Being true to his roots and southern hospitality, Kevin would always throw an extra rib in there. You are a God, sir. We don't deserve you! This is a family affair. I believe his wife and kids are also in on the business of feeding people. I would always see their smiling faces when I get my food. Can ya'll adopt me? I mean, I'll eat all the left overs. Please be around for a long time. I adore all of you. Yeeehhaawww!!!!

It's hard to miss this enormous Food trailer and you'll be glad you didn't. They're known for their brisket and ribs which I have had both and both are fantastic. What did it for me today tho was their pork tacos. The pork is so tender and juicy, on flour tortillas, dressed Tex-mex style. Absolutely delicious! The service was friendly and speedy and the output is always quality. Hunt these guys down for your next bbq or taco fix.

Even though we had a reservation, it didn't seem to make a difference. We waited about 15 minutes just to find a host or hostess to be seated. During that time, we saw several other groups leave because no one was available to greet or seat them. It wasn't the best first impression and definitely set the tone for the visit. Once we were seated, the food was excellent. You can really tell that everything is made from scratch, and the quality and freshness stood out. The Garlic Parmesan Brussels Sprouts, topped with garlic aioli and Parmesan cheese, were delicious and packed with flavor. I also ordered the Kale Caesar Salad with grilled chicken, which was fresh and well-balanced with house greens, Parmesan cheese, and Caesar vinaigrette. My little ones ordered the Crispy Southern Fried Chicken Fingers with fries, and they both really enjoyed their meals. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight of our visit, but the service and lack of organization upon arrival could use improvement. If they can address the front-of-house experience, it would make for a much better visit.

Calamari was prepared well and not too chewy. We shockingly each chose a salad: the bistro steak, the chop chop Asian, the goat cheese, and the salmon. Each one was incredible. Mine was the chop chop and I absolutely loved it! It was HUGE and you can bet I ate every single bite. Loved it!' We finished with the brownie topped with ice cream for the birthday girl, it was extremely tasty! Thanks again to Evan for making our night! He was a fantastic waiter! We came in on a Wednesday evening. We asked about the menu and were told at the counter that it was Wing Wednesday and the wings were $1 each. Well how could we not add those onto our order. We ordered a Burnt Ends platter with mac and cheese, and corn nuggets, a Brisket Platter with corn nuggets and beans. We also ordered a large mac for my son and a side of lean brisket. For the wings we ordered the Cajun ranch. Our food started coming out in about 5 minutes. Firstly, I was shocked at the wings. I love wings, but they aren't something I usually order often as I find them just OK. There are only a couple places that I visit specifically for wings. Well, let me tell you, I would make a visit back just for these wings. OMG, the Cajun ranch was simply amazing, really addictive. They were my favorite item. We devoured them. The burnt ends were very good. I appreciate they are big chunks of brisket with no pull pork filler. The flavor was amazing as well and the bits of fat melted in our mouth. The corn nuggets were fine and the Mac N Cheese was quite tasty. We enjoyed the meal so much, were were trying to figure out somewhere for a family lunch the next Sunday and came back again. This time my sister, son and I brought my dad. We of course ordered more wings and burnt ends and brisket with lots of Mac N Cheese. The food really is something special. The wings are absolutely wonderful and the burnt ends are a hit. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants and will always be on my list of visits to enjoy when I come back to Jax.

The overall restaurant looked clean and great for a date night. We weren't feeling too hungry so we ordered the following based on the waitress and our friend's recommendations: 1) Crispy Brussels sprouts 2) Duck Fat Corn Bread 3) House made pasta + sugo The crispy brussels sprouts were a bit undercooked and lacked flavor but if you prefer a less crispy Brussel sprout dish I would recommend it over the duck fat corn bread. The duck fat corn bread was disappointing. It was an odd combination of flavors that did not mix very well. The corn bread was mushy and the crisp Napa cabbage with the random ranch/spicy sauce combo did not pair well and left my mouth feeling confused. I had high expectations for their house made pasta as they had a pasta maker out for viewing. The pasta was overcooked and every bite was an interesting mix of flavors...some bites salty...some bites unseasoned. There was barely any meat present and overall we ended up not finishing our meal and wrapping up the night. The only good thing we had was the homemade soda that I did not get a picture of but I believe was the hibiscus one. Overall I would recommend this place for drinks but not dinner.
