We visited to try out the Splatter Studio, which is pretty much what it sounds like: it's a studio that you can visit to make splatter paintings. We got outfitted with goggles, aprons and other protective gear, then headed into a room with lots of neon paint and a few blank canvases. The lights were turned off, the music was turned on, and were allowed to splatter and throw paint against the canvases to create our own individual paintings. It was a therapeutic -- and fun, and messy -- experience for my whole family. After we were done, we got to take home our artwork that we had created together. I don't usually like to make a mess, so splatter painting is not an activity that I usually would have sought out myself. But I'm glad that I tried it! Like I said, it was very cathartic and therapeutic. Slinging paint against a wall is a big stress reliever, believe it or not. And my kids, who are used to people telling them not to get messy and throw things, were super excited to get messy and throw things. This was a fun art activity for everyone. The owner of Young at Art, Karla, is a local art teacher, which is really neat. Along with the splatter studio, she also offers art classes and art lessons, as well as canvas painting parties. Karla is very friendly and made us feel at home in her studio during our painting session. If you're looking for a unique art activity for all ages, you need to visit Young at Art and try the splatter studio.

They weren't many people on this Memorial Day holiday so we were able to sit and watch three gentlemen at work creating the most beautiful iridescent glass pumpkins and ask questions about them and their experience/ employment at the studio. We got to sit for at least 20-25 minutes then browsed the shop to see the different items for sale. I really liked some small glass ornaments on entering the building but decided I should look around more and go watch the demonstration first and intended on buying on my way out. A young lady behind the counter was assisting a customer very patiently, while they struggled to decide on purchases for gifts. This customer was at the counter when I walked in, and she was still there close to 30 minutes later! I ended up putting my ornaments back and left. There's an outdoor garden art area with lovely items for sale, discounted for the holiday; I could tell driving by. The studio is worth the visit for sure! Due to the nature of the items being unique, individually handcrafted pieces that cannot be duplicated they are more expensive. But there were some affordable items. Definitely stop in!

This museum has a varied and well-curated collection of glass pieces, arranged in a creative way. For instance, in the main room, the glass pieces are arranged by color, and show how different elements on the periodic table influence the color of glass. I don't remember half of the stuff I was told, but I do know that if I come across a piece of glass that's a glowing green color, I should probably think twice about being anywhere near it because it could be radioactive! Because it might have uranium in it. Yikes. It's really cool to learn how the natural elements and materials in the earth affect glass, which is also a natural material that is derived from the earth. Glass is a gift from the earth, which is the lesson that I learned from this museum. This isn't the most kid-friendly museum (because breakable things and kids do not mix), and I think my children were done after about 10 minutes. So if you want to stay and read the signs and learn about glass, I recommend visiting without young people with short attention spans. One of the neat aspects about the Ohio Glass Museum is that they have glass blowing classes, which you can sign up for or sit in the bleachers and watch other people do glass blowing. They also have an amazing gift shop, where you can find all kinds of glass gifts, like ornaments made my local artists, glass trinkets and lots more.

If you want to learn more about her, just ask the people who own the store to tell you more. The friendly owners will tell you all about her! She has a very interesting story. You'll find lots of beautiful glassware, tableware, trinkets and more. Many of the items for sale are by local and women-owned businesses. It's really neat that Gay Fad Studios continues the tradition of empowering women by selling products produced by women!

This place is essentially like the kids space at COSI. Different areas for them to play and get creative. We (unfortunately) went on a day when a HUGE daycare or playgroup was also visiting, so about 15 mins after arriving, this swarm of over 50 adults and kids came in and it just got insane. I overheard another mom say that she's never seen so many people in there, so it reassured me that it's not always like this. This place isn't super fancy, and I did wonder about their sanitation procedures because I didn't see any buckets or bins for toys to go in if a kid had put it in their mouth. My LO being under a year, and my nephew being 18 months, you know everything goes in the mouth. They had a little "plop zone" which is the sacred safe space for babies under 2 to not get trampled. My daughter liked it, and liked chewing every toy, which takes me back to the germs... Butbi tried to let it go. The one thing I truly disliked about this place is that you have to pay to get in, even as an adult. $8 for me to supervise my own kid? Okay... Luckily my daughter was free because she was under 1, but I thought it was kind of ridiculous that adults have to pay for their child and themselves. It would make me think twice about coming here regularly once she's over 12 months because I don't think $16 is worth it. As of right now, all she can do is sit in the little baby plop zone. So if you really need something to do on a rainy day, definitely come here. It's safe and the kids for sure have fun. But if it's not a rainy day or you have a lot of kiddos, weigh out all your options, lol.
