A peaceful, powerful museum with heart, history, and incredible care…read more The Favell Museum in Klamath Falls completely exceeded our expectations. It's a quiet, three-story space full of beautifully preserved Native American artifacts, Western art, and historic collections that feel both intimate and deeply respected. We came in just hoping to learn -- and left with a whole new appreciation for everything this place holds. Admission was $15 per adult, with a small senior discount for my mom. Tribal and Native members are welcomed in for free. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and clearly proud of the space. They even allowed my sister to bring her leashed dog inside, as long as he stayed calm -- a thoughtful, trusting gesture we really appreciated. Each floor has its own character: * Top floor: An open gallery walk-through with art from the early to mid-1900s, where they also host art classes and community events. It felt calm, creative, and inspiring. * Middle floor: The main museum, with 5-6 rooms filled with Native artifacts, cultural pieces, and a separate vault room for antique weapons. Every display was arranged with care and depth. * Bottom floor: A rest area with beautiful leather chairs, a warm rug, Western art on the walls, and the most spacious, well-kept bathrooms we've seen in any museum. It felt like a lounge, not a lower level. The overall vibe was calm and deeply respectful. While it was a little tricky to photograph some of the exhibits due to lighting glare on the glass cases, that didn't take away from the beauty and storytelling in the collections. Other notes: * They accept Apple Pay * The gift shop is beautiful, with thoughtfully chosen, high-quality items * Everything is clearly maintained with care, from the exhibits to the restrooms Going to museums like this and supporting organizations that protect and share cultural history keeps authenticity alive. It's humbling, beautiful, and grounding in a way that's hard to put into words. We built real memories here and left feeling connected, inspired, and grateful. This was a total hidden gem in Chiloquin! We stopped by after hiking at Crater Lake and had so much…read morefun. We did the train tour which was a ride on the tracks with a few stops throughout that provided some background and super interesting history about the railroads. The ride took about 30 min. Our guide, Ian, was so knowledgeable. After the tour, we walked around and explored some of the train cars and equipment throughout the property. Some of the cars had stairs so you could walk throughout them. Such a cool experience if you're into history or trains! Would also recommend bringing some cash for a donation as the museum is funded by donations and largely run by volunteers. The staff were so kind and passionate about the museum. I think this would be super fun for kids, but as a group of adults we loved it!!

But if you are looking for a cute, one of a kind place to camp, come to Heartline Ranch. The camp offers tipis that to stay in, with sleeping bags and pillows provided. You can even have a campfire in the middle of your tipi! If you have horses, you can board them also, or take a guided trail ride. Located 30 minutes outside of Crater Lake National Park, it's a great place to stay if you want to camp without the hassle of setting and taking down your tent There are few things that I would have changed. Instead of the folding cushions they use as mattresses, I would have preferred a real camp mattress. I am also not a huge fan of port a potties, but they do keep them clean as possible. Honestly, the lack of plumbing is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. They have a shower setup and after a day of hiking, it felt wonderful. While I felt it was a little expensive, I would still go back and stay again.

The Tee Pees were really well received by my 4, 9 and 13 yr olds. They have 5ish couch like pillows or mattresses which I slept on great! The hosts delivered wood, opened the smoke hole thingy on the Tee Pee and left is alone! I don't like helicopter hosts so that was great. They give you their phone number and tell you to call if you want any thing or have any questions. I had great cell service the whole time. There were wild strawberry bushes with flowers all over... in a few weeks campers will find a ton of fresh, wild strawberries (June 20). The hosts gave me a mosquito repellant ring to burn for mosquitos but I never used it. We did get attached for about 30-60 minutes which is typical in Oregon woods but it was not overwhelming. Proper long clothing and some good mosquito spray will do the trick. We used organic, natural chemical free bug sticks and sprays because my wife doesn't want to give the kids cancer and of course it didn't help us at all... so we got a few bites and have a low chance of getting cancer! If a few bug bites are a deal breaker camp in a hotel! I'm not a cowboy but I did care for and trail ride horses in high school. I felt like the horse riding was very safe and very considerate of their horses (one horse had a sore frog [rock bruise] so they decided that horse would not be rode). I felt like the horses are cared for like part of the family... which is good. A criticism - It's a family run business so if you have an itinerary that has every minute counted for you'd better free up some time for some inefficient horse prep! I wouldn't schedule dinner with the Crater Lake Lodge for 6PM if you have a 2hr ride scheduled at 3PM.. I'd schedule for 8PM and have a beer/ glass of wine while making up the time difference. It's directly across the side street from the Ashland Springs hotel and featured a nice slice of interesting creative items, across many mediums. I enjoyed a nice chat with the owner, and left with a notebook featuring a cover from a cigar box, a leather backbone, and some pretty heavy duty paper. Of course, I didn't need it, but the whole heft, artistry, and how if fit in my hand, all came together. I felt it was a little pricey, but good value and my local support.
