Can't believe I forgot to rate the Tybee Island Pier from a few months ago, but here we go. I was in the Savannah area in late June and since I haven't been to an East Coast beach in probably 5-6 years I knew I needed to smell some salt water and absorb some beach vibes. My wife and I headed here around 11:30AM and after a little bit of a struggle snagging some parking, we were able to take a nice walk. Like most popular little beach areas, this place is pretty crowded but not so much that you want to avoid it at all costs. We walked up to the boardwalk area and took the long walk down the pier, it was really nice being able to be so far out without getting wet (we had a flight to catch, though I would of loved having a swim). The pier itself with full of families taking photos, people taking a walk, and the end was a fishing area where you could actually rent a pole, buy some bait, and enjoy some time sitting down and trying to catch something. We spent maybe a half hour or so strolling the boardwalk which also has a big room with some food options (ice cream included), before heading back to the car and heading down to the airport. Overall, Tybee Island Pier is a nice place to spend an afternoon and has plenty of activities to keep the whole family happy. At the time I was visiting, I thought I was moving here so we kind of rushed through what we did, but since I ended up NOT moving to Savannah I sure do look forward to flying out and taking this city in a bit at some point. read more

The day we went was a little cold and windy but we still wanted to see the ocean and walk out on the pier. It is somewhat off season so I don't know what the pier is like during peak season days, but it was a little run down and not well upkept. The bathrooms were absolutely DISGUSTING, like I felt unclean coming out of them. Most of the stall doors wouldn't lock so my friends had to hold them closed for each other. It was a fun pier to stumble up on but wouldn't be a destination choice. read more

This was a nice, serene little beach. You can see from my pictures that it wasn't very crowded when I went. It was well maintained and clean. They have bathrooms available. Parking wasn't bad. They have some shops and restaurants. Locals are very friendly. read more

We came here to catch the sunrise. However, it was cloudy and we couldn't really watch the sunrise, but nevertheless, we had an amazing view. The beach and the pier are pretty nice. It was practically empty and we could walk down the far end and take in the views. There are also swings all around the beach for you to sit on and enjoy the view. There are plenty of shops, food stalls, and covered picnic tables at the entrance of the pier. Due to the early morning hours, all shops were closed. Parking is metered however, it is free in the morning before 8am. read more

This pier is not just for fishermen/women. It's a great place to get out of the sun for a moment and share a snack or lunch or conversation. A place to make memories. Large pavilion with a number of picnic tables. We were here early but there seems to be beach food off to one side of pavilion. It's a shorter pier and make sure you are wearing shoes and the kids . This pier is well built it looks like it has weathered a few storms. When you enter (free)there are restrooms, a few bars and you can get some food. If you go all the way to the end you can fish for free (with a license if under 16 no license required ) there's a small bait shop (cash only)and a place to clean fish with a sink. Watch out for the birds they like to steal bait! On the left side of the pier there's a convenient exit directly onto the beach. No swimming within 150 ft of the pier.,the beach is ok (Florida beaches are better in my opinion) the sand is similar to NH sand. You cannot see onto the water it's dark. There was trash in the sand dunes. Parking is $7.00 for two hours!!!!! Holy crap:( there are little shops and restaurants all around. Overall we enjoyed our beach day but will be looking at other areas on the island this week! read more

Be careful visiting this island or any of its attractions. They charge $4.00 an hour for parking. If you use their app to pay for parking and miss any detail, they charge you $80.00 and will not allow an appeal. I recently got a veteran's tag for Georgia about three weeks ago. I went to Tybee Island on a recent holiday and forgot to change the tag. I paid to park but had the wrong tag listed due to the new plate. I called after getting a citation for $80.00 and explained the situation. They couldn't care and were very rude about it. Recommend Veterans stay away from this place as they will not work with veterans and just want to add to their budget read more

This Pier is one of our favorite places!! The pier is free to walk down and enjoy. There is restrooms located on the end of the pier. The beach is beautiful here and parking is available for a few, meter parking. It's also in walking distance to the shops and restaurants. read more

This is a really nice feature at the end of Tybee Island right in the middle of all the action. This pier extends out over the main beach and into the ocean. Not sure if fishing is allowed off the end of pier, it looks more for swimmers and bathing comfort. At the beginning of the pier is a very large pavilion which contains numerous picnic tables, bathroom facilities, vending machines and a tiki bar for adult beverages. From the pavilion there is stair access to the beach. There are other points of ingress along the sides. In front of the pier are numerous bars and restaurants lining the streets. There is also a large parking lot, you pay at the kiosk and leave ticket on dashboard. The whole area is a nice party central with plenty to do. If you are a sun worshiper, this is the place for you read more

Hot day yet cool waters at Tybee! I love walking along the long pier and there's a covered sitting area with small snack stalls. At the end of the pier there's a small shaded part as well with benches - and a tackle shop. You'll find lots of people fishing . The view of the shining sea from the high arches is simply breathtaking . We also walked down to the waters and enjoyed the cool waves . We went at around 10:30 am, it was very hot. Recommend going earlier so that it will be enjoyable. There's paid parking in the lanes leading up to the Beach/Pier (about $7 for 2 hours). Lovely place to spend the day with your family (except your pups - no pets allowed ). read more

Just a nice little pier for fishing. There's nothing in it. But it's nice to walk out over the water.

We were there in early November, not many people on the beach or on the pier. The beach side restaurants and shopping are almost empty. Parking is easy. $2 per hour, u can pay be the machine or download an app. There are sands piled near the beach, make the look a little bit messy. But the beach itself is quite nice. We came to visit for Christmas/ New Years so the Pier indoor food area was closed. Loved the brief and soothing walk to the pier. It was hard to walk out into the actual pier as there were many people within it towards tje end but the path to it waa fairly empty and a great picture location. It is great. You can fish off the end and there is a little shop where you can buy bait. The food is good but you had better check and see if it's open before you go-seasonal. Ample pay parking. You can buy a token but it is much easier to down load the parking app. If you don't pay you will get a ticket. If you litter you will get a ticket. I saw where some people were complaining about that on here. Follow the rules as you would anywhere else. A very nice small town vibe and Savannah is just a twenty-five minute drive away. Oh, and they have very clean bathrooms at the pier. read more

Tybee Island is always a good time, with or without the kids. Im a local, and Tybee has been pretty consistent over the years. Parking was rough today but we made it work. Love the new app feature on the parking meters, no coins needed! I think the pavilion could use a little bit of an update, I mean I think it's been long enough.. convenient you can get snacks and drinks and not over inflated prices. I wish they would take debit cards tho. You can also hit the bar and get an alcoholic beverage. read more

The Tybee Island Pier is a very nice pier with a pavilion as you walk up into as you enter the pier. The pavilion house restrooms and sometimes there are sales of snacks and drinks. Past the pavilion is the actual pier where you can fish or just relax and enjoy the scenery as the waves crash into the shore. read more

My sister lives not too far from here so we always like to spend a day here. It can get crowded at times like any other beach but it's never to the point where you can't move or walk because people are so close to you. My dad and sister went out pretty far and swore they saw dolphins but the most I've seen close to the shore is tiny fish. It's always an adventure here. You meet and see a lot of cool people and sandcastles if you're lucky. I liked the pier because while dirty, there is a nearby bathroom which was much needed since ya girl was getting her monthly visit if you know what I mean... The only thing I don't like is the water color and sand. I'm use to clear pretty florida beaches so this was a little different. Nevertheless it isn't home so it's not like I was suffering while being here. If you're looking for a nearby place to eat try the crab shack. A cool touristy place to eat. read more

Do not visit Tybee Island if you want to have fun. The police prey on tourists and hand out tickets like they're candy. Received over $3,000 of fines for "littering" which was invalid. Do not recommend and will not be back. Where I'm from, our policeman do meaningful work. read more

This is a beautiful place, even in the winter. Very Long Beach with the pier jutting out from the middle. Your able to fish up there if you have a Georgia fishing license. Great place to take pictures in the sun with a convenient bathroom located at the entrance. Went during off season and it was very spacious and no crowd at all. I liked this place better than Hilton Head! Or should I say I was hoping Hilton Head would have been like this! This is a clean, nice beach on the Atlantic. Park on any of the residential side streets, pay the meter box and walk the boardwalk over the dunes to the beach ahead of you. Parking is not expensive. There were not lifeguards at all spots on the beach, but near the pier there was. There were little 4X4 trucks of guards driving the beach up and down every so often too. Wonderful pictures here of the pier and nice compact sand too so if you have a bike you could use it on the sand. There were small hotels and rental places along the beach or you could stay in Savannah and have some mini city life in your vacation too. I drove up from Savannah and it was a pleasant drive and took around 25 minutes. read more

This beach is great! The pier is wonderful. There is a guy on the pier that rents poles and sells bait. This was a great adventure for our kids (12YO). They caught stingrays and watched a guy catch a shark too. All of the catch was returned to the ocean which was great to have an experienced fisherman help with so as not to injure the fish. Its gorgeous at sunrise, a nice place for a shady ice cream in the height of the hot day, and fun to photograph under the pier too! read more
