We decided to go tycoga. Thinking it's someplace different, knowing the only food they serve is pizza. I know it's a winery and they want to sell alcohol but all we wanted was something to eat. The only seating was in the bar hallway/lobby (or outside, but it was windy). Inside they have 6 wingback type chairs with a " coffee table" in front of you (can you imagine trying to chew on a hard crusted Pizza, sitting at the coffee table), 2 tall tables, each with 4 tall, hard, sling stools, no backs (which aren't easy to move on the low pile carpet), or a regular height table with six hard, wood chairs with backs, or a couple chairs at the bar. Not knowing if a larger group of people would come in we didn't want to take the areas for six people. So we sat at one of the tall tables with hard sling chairs and no backs. They are extremely uncomfortable, too tall to be comfortable, no matter your height. We were each given a fork wrapped in one small napkin. When the pizzas came out they were very thin, not many toppings (we've had better frozen pizzas than these were and I don't care for frozen pizza). They were impossible to cut with the fork. When you picked them up your hands got black from the underside, from the Wood Fired Pizza. The crust was too hard to chew off. We asked for more napkins and knives and they only had little plastic knives. When questioned about something different we were told that's the only kind they can give us. Which of course there's no way you can cut, with those little plastic knives, the tough crust of the pizza. I would like to see management sitting in those uncomfortable hard tall stools trying to chew a pizza (or cut one with a little plastic knife), with dirty, blackened fingers and try to enjoy one's dinner. read more

Such a very cool place that definitely warrants another visit. They have a beautiful facility, complete with outside areas and the lovely bar. We stopped in on a busy Friday night and seating was limited because they have a private party going on in their main room. It was worth the wait for a seat in the bar area. The bartenders were incredibly informative explain the differences in the wines and the selection of other drinks. I tasted a semi sweet red and then a very sweet white and enjoyed both of them. Next time I return I will take home some bottles. There was a lovely little gift shop area. I couldn't resist buying some treasures for some of my favorite wine drinkers. We hope to visit again when the weather warms up and we can enjoy the outside fire pits and water features and seating. read more

I'm not a pizza person but this pizza is good. Whiskey slushy is GOOD and wine also. Open space and friendly staff . They have pop for the non-drinkers. No really a place for young kids Great fora friends outing or couples trip. They have their own whiskey brand too. Definitely recommend. read more

A multitude of wine choices to satisfy every picky palette from dry to sweet and everything in between. Currently no food being served but plans in the works to change that. Wine tasting of five wines of your choice for $5.00. All bottles are $14.00 with the exception of their higher alcohol content dessert wine. Family owned and operated, this is definitely a gem for the area. I loved the Nevaeh and the new Berrylicious (not on the menu yet). You won't be disappointed. read more

Now also a distillery offering rye whiskey and corn based vodka. The wines are really good. Sit outside with water features and vineyard or inside with fireplace, fun people and wine with snacks and Duke's pizza. We've been coming here since it opened for wine and live music events. I had been wanting to go to Tycoga for quite a while. When I finally went I was really impressed. The front of the place was really inviting. The inside was very nicely decorated and clean. We went and found a couple of spots at the bar area, it was pretty busy. We did have to wait a while to be served, longer than I expected. But once I got settled with my bottle of wine and put in a pizza order we explored the back patio. Several tables and chairs, a view of a waterfall and the vineyard. There was no breeze that day, so the flies were pretty thick. If it was a bit more breezy I figure the bugs would not be so bad. We got the pizza and it was very cheesy. Too much for me, some people may like it like that but it was pretty heavy. Overall a decent experience. Loved the wine. read more

This a very welcoming place to sip some wine. First time we came it was a slow winter day. The manager gave us a tour of the facility, which is pretty impressive. We were able to share a tasting and ordered a bottle of wine. Second time we went during the summer was beautiful on the patio great views of the Vineyard. And their pizzas are amazing. read more

I have been waiting to come here for so long! I'm not in this area ever, but my family lives about a half an hour away. I finally convinced them that we need to come here and check out the wines and just hang out and enjoy the day. People flock here. It was packed on a Saturday! Impressive, TYCOGA. They have a nice variety of red, white, sweet, and dry wines. You can do a tasting (5 for $5, and the day we went they were throwing in a sangria tasting for free). Most of the wines were good, some not so much, but that's just me. The sangria is very sweet. We ended up ordering a bottle of wine to share (which don't exceed $20/bottle) and sat outside. They have a great patio that overlooks the vineyard. It's nice to be in the peace ad quiet. The tables have umbrellas so you can be in the shade if you want. They also have pizzas, which are very good (we ordered the vegetarian). And you can host parties/receptions here in a room off of the tasting room. There is a bar inside, with plenty of room for a decent amount of people. read more

We went to tycoga winery on our way back from galena. We had a wonderful experience! We Even Walked In Close To closing time and they were more than nice and accommodating. We've been to other wineries in the area. Their wines are on par if not better than other wines in the area. The customer service was outstanding! We will definitely be back! read more

Wow! Delicious wine! So hard to decide which ones to get. The bartender was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us time to enjoy each taste. We got a glass of the mixed white and red slushie sangria and sat on the back deck by the little waterfall. So peaceful, so relaxing, just the right way to end a perfect vacation. Would be a great place for a wedding and reception. We will definitely return! read more

I've never had an issue with Tycoga but I received a bottle today that seems to be fermented. It's supposed to be a dry white La Crescent but it appears very yellow and cloudy and had a bad aftertaste. In my previous experience this has not been the case at all so I apologize for this poor review but the clarity and quality of this wine was not what I expected from Tycoga. Hoping the next experience will be better. read more

This winery is beautiful. However I am very disappointed. Took relatives there from California and they just happened to be out of all of their red wines. How does this happen? This was in May. So what do they do the rest of the year? The guy at the counter said he had some of this sparkling wine left but they were saving that for weddings. My cousin just could not believe it. Have gone by this place many times on the way to the Quad Cities. Finally, had time to stop a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. It is a beautiful place inside and out. Service was horrible. Only one person behind the bar serving about 10 people who were trying their "tastings". No time to visit with him about their wines, etc. Thought the cost was ridiculous considering that the amount was so little. Barely enough to have one swallow. Ironically, the barman pointed out the owner who was sitting behind us, facing the bar and who did nothing to help this man with the customers. Wine was okay, no better or worse that many of the wineries along the Eastern side of Iowa which we love. (Iowa does have great wine!!) Not sure if we will ever stop again. read more
