We really enjoyed our two weeks with a 28 ft. trailer. Larry met us in Pentwater as we arrived. He was very helpful with explaining how the awning worked, etc. The essentials for cooking were adequate, but as seasoned campers I brought a crockpot, 4-slice toaster, lots of paper products, etc. The trailer has a nice layout, and since we rented the trailer for two people, I used the bunk area for storage. The outside kitchen was very helpful with the extra fridge and sink area. We hope to rent from Tye One again this summer. read more

We really enjoyed renting a camper for a week, the camper was almost brand new compared to the last rental we had from a different company. There were some kinks in the trailer, but we are rather experienced with camping and was no problem to for us to fix, the owner came out when we had a problem and wanted to get his guidance on how fix it. We rented a 28 ft trailer and were very happy with the trailer and communication with the delivery people. I was sent a list of items that came with the trailer, but would have appreciated getting that list a few days or a week earlier. But all-in-all, it was a good rental experience. My Second year renting a 19 foot Camping Trailer from Tye-One-J and I couldn't be happier! I was so impressed from LAST YEARS rental that I also recommend Tye-One-J to a family member and they also rented a camper this year. Our unit was clean and suited our week long stay at a Michigan State park very well. This will be a yearly tradition and we will most definitely be renting from Tye-One next year. I've rented tools twice from them now, and I know tools. Both times.., excellent service and tool quality. I had never used them before, instead I had used the other place in Ludington to the east, same road. I went into them for a metal detector, which they didn't have. Not that the one they had was rented out, they just didn't have one. So I asked if they thought Tye-1 Jay would have one, whom I had never rented from. Bad question, the Grand guy basically couldn't say enough bad stuff about his competitor. I thought, REALLY.!.? So I went down there and the men behind the counter were knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. After completing the transaction I told them about my "just prior" experience at the Grand place. Well I thought between those two exchanges Tye-One-J Rentals was the class act and are now my first choice of places to rent from when in need. Not that I wouldn't go back to the place to the east, I'm just not into people who seem to need to do their business by making disparaging remarks about "The Other Guy". So I read the other reviews before I wrote mine.., all I can say is when it comes to tools I found them to be very adequate.! read more

I will start out by saying my first impression of this place was great - The owner, Jim, was friendly & had absolute great customer service. However, once everything was delivered it was an entirely different situation. I arrived expecting everything to be set up and that was not the case. The Tent was up but they did not put up the side walls or lights (both were still wrapped in boxes to the side & several of the lights were broken). The tent itself looked beat up, having tears and I doubt it had been cleaned in years. The chairs were still stacked in a sleeve & ratcheted shut - Once we took them out we found that Tye One J had not bothered to clean them after their last event - they were covered in cake and mud! If I could go back I would've chosen another company. No bride deserves to be stressing and cleaning the day before her wedding. read more

Would not recommend this place at all. Was quoted a price for a tent and walls and when we picked it up I was told that the walls were not included and they would be over $100 bucks more to rent them. When I explained the phone conversation I had when reserving the tent the owner became a complete jerk to the point I had to leave instead of pulling him across the counter. When I told others of the ordeal others had similar stories of the place. I'd go anywhere else for any rental needs. read more

I felt like I was taken advantage of because I'm not local. I was given a price for an item on Wednesday, but when I went to rent the item on later that week the owner, Jim, quoted me a higher price. I tried to remind him of the conversation we had on Wednesday and he was incredibly rude and dismissive. read more

I'm giving this place a star just because they had what I needed to rent. I went in on a Friday night for some tables to have a yard sale. The guy at the counter was amazingly nice & helpful when I questioned him on a future rental for a floor sander. Unfortunately, over the weekend we had very bad weather, rain AND SNOW, at the end of May!! Yes, that's Michigan for ya! The following Monday morning when I came to return the tables I had asked the man at the store (a different man from Friday night) if we could maybe refund a PORTION of the rental because I never got to use the tables and I would be renting a floor sander in the near future. (At this time, I would have been happy with 20 bucks, ya know?) He said to me, "No, I'm not doing that!! Did you forget that I live here in Ludington too?? I think the weather was just fine for a yard sale!!" I then in return said, "It rained the first day & snowed the second!" He would not budge. So I simply said, "Well I guess we'll have to see about that future rental!" I then went to Grand Rental Station down the road & gave them my $200.00 for the time I used their sander & sand paper for a few days. They were very polite & pleasant to work with... I have heard things about this guy since my experience & yeah, the words used to describe him, I can not use on here... Too bad too, because the first guy on Friday night was amazing! Stay away from here & go down the road, unless you like to be treated like you are only wanted for your money.. read more

I have seen on two different occasions with two different contractors, and two different pieces of equipment. On both occasions the equipment broke down. Extremely poor customer service, and very rude. One occasion we had to add 15 gallons of hydraulic fluid to a sky track, and the owner would not compensate us for it. He was extremely rude and very difficult to work with. I guess his logic is to call and have him drive 60 miles just to add hydraulic fluid so he knows how much was added. Opposed to us diagnosing the problem and adding the fluid and letting him know. On the second occasion there was a sky track rented for three weeks. After the first week the sky track broke down. It took them a week to even get out and look at it. The mechanic himself was surprised they sent this piece of equipment out, saying "it was due for maintenance". It took them another week to get it started. After the sky track got started the equipment would not move.it took another week for them to get a trailer out there to Haul it off location. The owner insisted that the contractor put in poor diesel fuel even though he runs his pick up truck off the same fuel tank. It took a little over three weeks to get the sky track off location. There were several rude phone calls trying to get a refund. In the end he wouldn't give me a full refund even though his equipment stop my job for three weeks employees had to get laid off. With the little I've seen I would say this is a very poor company to run equipment from. Extremely poor equipment. Very rude and extremely poor customer service. He couldn't pay me to ever use his equipment..... read more
