I was surprised to see how many options that they had. We chose 150 custom designed invititation cards, and it took them less than ten days to complete everything. I was helped by Kate and she was extremely knowledgeable about the entire process. What's cool about this store is that they even have wonderful gift items for nearly every occasion. Their prices are reasonable and I enjoyed doing business with them.

I did my wedding invitations through Write for You. They were beyond unprofessional throughout the entire experience. While I had issues with the company for our 6-month interaction, here are the three most egregious interactions: 1. For an 8-week period of time a few months before my wedding, I was unable to get ahold of anyone at the shop. I emailed and called many times. I only heard back after leaving a final message asking if the business was still open and if I'd need to find another vendor. 2. Two months out from my wedding, I received notification that my invitations had arrived. On the same day, I received an invoice that included a $300 charge above my quote. This wasn't the first out-of-the-blue charge that had occurred in my interactions with Write for You. The owner told me this charge was for "ribbons and labor" and thus would not remove it. I was not previously notified of this charge and said I would only pay for what I was quoted. We went back and forth and the interaction eventually ended with: the owner yelling over the phone, the owner telling me she couldn't believe I was arguing over $300 because it's only $300, and the owner threatening to withhold the invitations. She also notified me that both she and her husband were lawyers. I ended up paying the extra amount because I needed the invitations (a fact she certainly knew). 3. Finally, after all of that, there was a typo on the invitations. Not only did Write for You refuse to reprint the invitations or refund me for any of the cost, but I couldn't even get someone to respond to my emails and calls. Presumably because I'd already paid. I don't think I can convey in a review what a terrible and exasperating experience this was the entire time. But I hope to convey to anyone thinking of using Write for You - avoid, avoid, avoid!

However in the case of Willow, an unexpected…read moreboutique in Petworth on a street more known for restaurants and bars (Petworth citizen and Domku) this word is absolutely fitting. This store has been open for more than a year and I can't believe me and my credit card haven't found this place earlier. This store is the cutest boutique I have been to in DC! Whether you're looking for a gift for a young women in your life, or looking to expand your wardrobe, a trip to Petworth will definitely pay off!! If you like brands like YA and Tulle, this is the place to go. There are no shortages of cute dresses and tops, with affordable prices (it's also the least expensive boutique I have been to). They also have one rack of vintage clothing, that's all in good shape and look repurposed. I tend to not wear vintage clothes, not cause I am a snob, only because people from the past were really really thin and my modern day thighs won't fit a thing here, but if you're lucky and thin, don't pass this rack by. I nearly dragged in half a rack of clothing into the dressing room with me, and thanks to Lia who reminded me of exactly how many striped dresses I own I walked away with only a cute peplum top for $26( https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=529507513830592&set=a.150739758374038.31207.127311010716913&type=1&theater) which looks like nothing I own and perfect for going out. Lia however did not remind me of my polka dot addiction, and I also walked away with a set of four tiny vintage cute ceramic bowls in red and white polka dot pattern. I know this is a clothing boutique mainly, but definitely if you find yourself in here do not overlook the vintage homewares. Cute plate sets (4 for $19), ring holders and ceramic casserole dishes are everywhere. It's like cute Anthropologie stuff without the inflated nonsense prices. The owner who was completely delightful invited us back for a 30% off event party, which is timed perfectly with my next payday. Coincidence? I think not.

It's also one of my go-to places for cute and unique cards and gifts (jewelry and a few household goods like DC themed glassware!). Have a friend expecting a baby? Pick up a DC flag onesie. This is a wonderful part of the Upshur retail area and definitely worth a trip if you don't live in Petworth. (The owner, Julie, also owns the delectable Lulabelle's Sweet Shop on the block!)

Awesome hand lotions, hair perfumes, Turkish towels (I got a great grape [okay, just plain purple] and pink one that's got teal on the other side -- just beautiful and so soft, ooh, what luxury! Turkish towels are awesome because they take up less space and dry far more quickly than other, thicker towels, so of course they end up both smelling much better and being a lot more hygienic. The orange-scented hand lotion is super-luxe, too, with a rich creamy feel and excellent scent. I got the amber hair perfume. The rugs are really nice, with just enough texture balanced together with softness and sturdiness all together in one piece -- and there is an amazing selection of different colours of these area rugs available, all rolled up nicely in a cool basket. Speaking of baskets, they've got them! The baskets have a real beachy vibe and would be perfect for a day (or a week, or more!) at the beach. They're real sturdy and stand up well on their own, unlike some other floppier baskets or of course beach bags out there .... The baskets are also really good for shopping, too. There are cookbooks, fun cooking and cleaning supplies such as the never-before-seen-by-me ravioli-shaped sponges and oh-so-many things to explore, I wouldn't want to ruin it for you by telling you more! The person I encountered was super-helpful, friendly, nice, accommodating, etc. The parking is plentiful (At least it was when I was there.), and if you like pretty, flowery things, there is also a lovely gardening center just steps away ... plus lots of other stuff nearby to explore in Kensington! Very glad I stopped by! Only thing is: it's closed on Mondays. Oh, and I love the name, too! Olive & Loom -- even the name has texture and beauty in it .... A very 'Yay' type of find, indeed! Just lovely. :-)
