I requested a pet taxi to take my dog to and from a vet appointment. Jenny, our driver, arrived right on time for both trips. Unfortunately, the vet was running 20 minutes behind. Jenny was accommodating and waited for the vet to finish. On the return trip, Jenny was very sensitive to the stressful situation my dog had just been through; she took special care to drive around potholes and avoid rapid acceleration and deceleration. Could not possibly have been better. My schedule changed four times over two weeks from early in the morning to late in the evening. Never a problem for U&Pet, they just said let us know when you get a final plan. The driver came to the apartment and assisted with both the dogs and the bags--2 dogs with large crates and four checked bags. He helped getting all of that into the airport and then assembled the crates and then waited until I was checked in and on the plane. U&Pet was the only service that answered the phone and/or returned a message. In this difficult time of flying in the world, everyone else ducked the responsibility of saying no to clients. U&Pet's professionalism, flexibility, and thoughtfulness was consistently evident in their frequent communications and actions pertaining to a unique situation in which my daughter's dog (Bonzai) needed to be picked up from National airport after a 24-hour international flight from South Korea. Specifically, Claudio and Kate went "beyond the call of duty" to respond to our needs as follows. Notwithstanding their basic services as promoted on their website (that stated 9:30 PM as their latest pickup time), Kate and Claudio immediately accommodated our daughter's request for a pet taxi service for the flight scheduled to arrive after 10:30 PM. Although our daughter initially planned to be at the airport with her dog, her flight was cancelled, but Bonzai's flight left on time. U&Pet appreciated how stressful this situation was and was extremely supportive. Our daughter reached out via email to U&Pet for assistance. Kate quickly and reassuringly responded that U&Pet would help out. (In fact, Kate's responsiveness over the past month coordinating this challenging trip was truly remarkable.) Upon arrival at the airport, we found out the Dog Cargo terminal closed at 10:00 PM. Claudio calmly circled back to the airport, waited while we went inside to get Bonzai, and helped us load Bonzai and his over-sized crate into his upscale vehicle and safely drove us back to our condo. I just learned about this service and used it for my120 pound Mastiff/St Bernard mix to take her to the vet. JENNY was AMAAAAAAAAAAZING!!!!!! She drove in a torrential downpour (even had to wade in the water), was on time, got me to the vet early, dropped us off at the door, waited in the car and got us home safely. I can not say enough good things about this service!!! I don't have a car and having a large dog and getting her to the vet is a challenge. I will use them over and over again!!! **Update--U&Pet has been taking care of my special needs dog for over a year, since January 2015. I cannot speak highly enough of this service. They are incredibly reasonably priced and is a fantastic deal for people who need regular dog-walking. Sidney is incredibly shy and nervous around new people, particularly men. U&Pet spent more time than we paid for getting Sidney comfortable with her walker. We have a nest cam and have been able to see how they interacts with her firsthand--such fantastic professionals. Sidney's tail wags a mile a minute when she sees Claudio or Erwin come in. They are also very dependable and have been very accommodating with last-minute requests. Sidney needs a ton of medications 3 times/day and I trust them to make sure she stays healthy and safe. Five stars all the way! read more

Our dog is a rescue and can be unfriendly toward other dogs, so we had not had any luck finding a place to board her. My wife and I wanted to travel to travel to California for the Thanksgiving holiday, and the only option was to take our dog with us on the plane. We had to fly out of Dulles in order to get a non-stop flight and we do not own a car. Just getting to the airport was going to be a challenge and we really weren't sure how we were going to manage it. Our flight left at 7:45 am on Thanksgiving day and we had to be at the airline Cargo office by 5:45 am. That meant leaving our home by 4:45 am. The crate for our dog was way too big to fit in a normal taxi and we were running out of ideas how we would get to the airport. U&Pet came to the rescue. First, the cost is very reasonable and all-inclusive. They picked up the two of us, our pet, our kennel, and our luggage and took us first to the airline cargo office and then to the passenger terminal for less than the cost of two taxis. And they did so in great comfort for everyone, including our dog. She didn't even have to ride in her crate for the 40-minute trip to the airport. Our driver, Justin, was very professional. He showed up on time, knew exactly where he was going, what to expect, and even offered us water for the trip. I would have rated U&Pet 5 stars just for doing the pick-up and delivery job well. But the level of service we were offered went well beyond what we expected. We had never done air travel with a dog before and so we diligently did our research beforehand. We measured our dog, bought and returned two crate kennels before we found a third one that fit our dog. We got all of the necessary check-ups and shots from our vet. We were sure that everything would go smoothly once we got to the airline cargo office. Our driver, Justin, warned us on the drive out that the guy who works at our airline's cargo office can be very difficult and may do everything he can to prevent our dog from flying. He's seen it before. Not to worry, we said, we're fully prepared. It turns out that "cargo-guy" made our dog crane her neck so she would be taller than the crate. She doesn't stand like that unless she's begging for a treat, but cargo-guy decided our crate was too small and she couldn't fly. At 5:30 am, there was no supervisor to hear our appeal. With a smile, cargo-guy added "and we don't have any other crates available." Again, this is at 5:30 am on a holiday, so we couldn't just run over to Petco and buy another crate. I was resigned to sending my wife to see the kids in California, while me and our dog stayed behind and ate TV dinner turkey. This is where Justin stepped in. He said that he had a larger crate in his barn. The only problem was that it was an hour away and we would miss the two-hour checkin window. So, I sent my wife on our scheduled flight while I rebooked on a later flight with our dog, and we made the trek to exchange my "too small crate" for a larger one, and returned to see cargo-guy. Cargo-guy peered over the counter at the larger crate. "That one's too big. It won't fit on your plane (a 737)." Of course, cargo guy hadn't told us about any size restrictions and it seemed like we had just spent a couple hours driving to Maryland and back for nothing. Again, I was resigned to stay home. Justin stepped in again. He canvassed the other airline cargo offices to see if any of them had a crate that would fit (they didn't). Then, he demanded to see the airline Cargo Supervisor and convinced him to rebook our dog onto a later flight on a larger plane (757), and to put our dog up in a pet hotel, all at no cost to us. Ultimately, my wife and I and our dog traveled coast-to-coast on three separate flights but we all arrived in time for a late Thanksgiving dinner with our kids. Our holiday plans would have been destroyed if not for the experience and over-the-top service by U&Pet and Justin. Thank you all! *****10 stars***** read more

Ok!!!!! So, where do I being??? And how many pages do I have to write??? If I can sum up in ONE word, U&Pet and especially Justin, is that he was TRULY, TRULY, TRULY our Angel sent from the heavens. I know that it MAY sound silly to say that, but take a look at the story below. So, my Fiance Craig & I, decided that Craig needs a break, take a sabbatical for 6 months or more, and have decided that he moves with our THREE dogs to St. Croix, the US Virgin Islands. So, what FIRST comes to your thought when you are moving to an island???? Well... how in the heck do you transport your dogs??? First, how do you get them from your home to the airport and then from the airport to St. Croix. Having NEVER flown any dogs before, we have NO IDEA how restrictive it is to transport your kids, from temperature restrictions, to breed restrictions, to crate size restrictions, immunizations, health certificates from vets, types of crates etc. OMG!!! We probably aged a year trying to figure out ALL of the details in 1 month. It was STRESSFUL to say the least!!! So, as we got the airlines requirements all taken care of, we were SUDDENLY posed with the question "how are we going to get our dogs to the airport?" Mind you, we had 3 dogs. 2 were 70-80 lbs and another one that is 10 lbs. Well... it's not like we can call Uber and expect them to have space for a HUGE crate and 3 dogs, our luggage etc. Taking the old fashioned taxi is a big NO NO. So, we didn't know what to do and who to go to and there's were, 2 blocks away from where we live in Mt. Pleasant, at 11:30 PM at night, while walking our dogs, we see this parked van that said 'U&PET.' We were in AWE and wondered for a moment if what we were looking at was real. So, that same night, I go on their website and request their service. They responded immediately and booked a 5:00 AM pick up from our place. Now... PLEASE keep in mind, that we went over the United Airlines regulations over 5 times to make sure that NOTHING goes wrong. So, we arrive to United Cargo at Dulles Airport, which by the way is 3 or 4 miles away from where Humans fly out of and when we get there, give our paper work to the lovely gentleman behind the counter, he looks at our BEAUTIFUL Elliot and decides to pick up the phone and call his supervisor. They decided to DECLINE our dog, YES!!!! You heard me write, DECLINE him because of his BREED, (a hound/staffordshire terrier mix that we rescued from the Washington Humane Society a few years back) and he says the following: "Your dog has the risk of being able to chew through the plastic crate!" Are you KIDDING me????!!!! I was furious and debilitated from NOT being able to do anything. The representative was SO impersonal that I felt like he treated our dog like an OBJECT!!! I begged him and told me that he's our pet, he's super friendly, and that we have 2 other dogs in our car that will be coming on the plane with us in 1st class - we spent tons of UN-NECESSARY money to get everyone in to St. Croix together. He simply repeated that he could NOT accept our dog and that we needed a WOODEN or METAL crate. The crates that he is talking about, you would need to order WEEKS in advance. I begged the rep to work with us and asked him if we can buy a crate off of United Airlines. He simply said: "No, we don't have any." I was DESTROYED from the inside and was NOT about to leave Elliot alone. We were willing to NOT fly and lose our money to stay with our kids. ANNNNNNNND... this is where Justin, the ABSOLUTE angel stepped in... Justin, took IMMEDIATE action, and had this GENIUS idea to run from Cargo to Cargo of different airliners and see if they have any. Please remember that our flight left IAD/Dulles at 8:23 AM, and now it's about 6:30 AM and we DON"T have a solution for Elliot. Literally, Justin RAN in 1 direction to the left and I ran in the OTHER direction to the right, both of us BEGGING other airlines if they can sell us a WOODEN or METAL crate - we would paid ANY amount of money for it. NOT ONLY that, as Justin was running, he was able to find on Craigslist a crate in Leesburg for sale and called the owner at 6:30 AM to see if we can pick it up. He was ABSOLUTELY without a SHADOW OF DOUBT, our angel who sprung into action and MADE SURE that our family does NOT get separated. The ironic part about ALL of this is that we were suppose to have ANOTHER person pick us up OTHER than Justin - but the universe sent him for THAT specific reason to save our family. So, we were SO LUCKY and were able to find 1 airliner who HAD 1 wooden crate that came from South Africa (how crazy is that) and were able to sell it to us on the spot. Needless to say, we made our flight, Elliot got home safely, with his brothers Bae & Aiden and TRULY TRULY TRULY, our family would have been separated if it wasn't for JUSTIN!!!! I feel very blessed to have found this service. I have five Salukis, a high-maintenance breed, two of which are advanced in age and require special handling. I discovered this company when looking for a pet taxi service that could transport the two senior dogs to their monthly vet appointments in Germantown. One of the dogs has hip and back issues which makes getting in and out of regular vehicles very challenging. When I initially contacted U & Pet, I voiced my concerns about having the right person and right vehicle for my dogs. The office manager replied to my email within less than an hour and said that the owner of the company had fourteen years as a dog trainer and was extremely smiled with all breeds and ages of dogs. Because I had concerns about how my old guys would get in and out of the vehicle (they are not trained to use a ramp), she even sent photos of the vehicle to be used. This set me at ease and when our driver, Claudio (also owner of the company) arrived (promptly), I knew we were in good hands. My dogs, which are shy, immediately warmed up to Claudio, and I was really impressed to have found a dog care business which was run by a truly dog savvy person who knew everything about dog care and handling. I am a veteran in the pet care business myself (I have a pet spa) and am not easy to impress, as few pet care businesses are run by pet care veterans and experts, as is U & Pet. I now have a standing appointment with U & Pet for our monthly vet appointments and my dogs hand off easily to Claudio. Though I do not travel often, due to having multiple dogs that require someone with knowledge of pack management and handling senior pets, it s good to know that they also offer dog walking and pet sitting if needed.
