I have just experienced the worst customer service of any establishment in my life. I have never even taken the time to write negative reviews before but felt that people definitely should know to avoid this site. Way too many details and probably not enough characters to express what happened but the employee was rude, rolling her eyes, screwing up her face, walked away from me while having the exchange, asked me rhetorical sarcastic questions to insult me just because I asked questions. I never once yelled, made a smart remark, had an attitude or anything to make the employee feel as If I was disrespectful to her. After reading so many not-so great reviews about U-haul overall and then viewing negative reviews about the U-haul at this specific location I have to say that I was skeptical about their customer service. I am so happy to state that the U-haul at this location provided top notch, quality service. U-haul in East Flatbush deserves a stellar 5 Star Review and I would give them more stars if that were possible-lol. Great Service from beginning to the end. Let me take you on the journey: I initaiily spoke to two different lovely customer service representatives and they helped me complete the reservation. Representatives over the phone were kind and patient while providing assistance throughout the weeks that I had additional inquiries about the reservation. Going into the U-haul Center one particular week to purchase items, Nisha handled the transaction and explained the reservation check-in process so that things would go smoothly. A fellow customer in the store in an upsetting manner mentioned to me that his reservation was for 11am that particular day and that he was already waiting an hour for them to give him a U-haul truck. The following week, Nisha assisted a family member and I with the check-in process. She was able to change the reservation and place it in the family members name, collect their driver'sicense information, pictures of their driver's license was taken and before you know it the truck was ready and available. Boy, was I grateful that the reservation was for 1:30pm and the truck was ready ahead of schedule at 1:22pm. We needed the truck for about three hourse and the 10' truck is 19.95 for a 24-hour period + $1.79 per mile. Such a great price! The U-haul was thoroughly cleaned well, drove smoothly and there were no issues. We returned the truck before this U-haul location closed for the evening. Darryl took a few minutes to check the truck back into the parking lot, he computed the fees and provided the bill amount which went straight to a credit card. He also nicely broke down the reason for the fees, etc. Thank you to both Nisha and Daaryl for their fantastic professionalism, good customer service and hard-work! Curtis Jenkins was very helpful, but the lady who was assisting me had a terrible attitude. Very condescending. Leaving one customer to tend to the next. Leaving the GM to have to do her work, and surprisingly, he didn't insist that she complete her job. I reserved a 17' online but it was unavailable in store so they gave me a 20' in compensation. Also, credit/debit card machine doesn't work Not enough staff, so many people waiting but I'll chalk that up to the global pandemic we are all facing. But simply put, attitude is everything. Was a pretty smooth transition with picking up the truck and dropping it off, thanks to Nesha for a smooth truck pickup and Joe for a smooth drop off early morning. My only eye opening part about the truck quality; rear license plate was not mounted. The guy who works on the trucks wasn't exactly helpful and didnt seem exactly worried about the plate not being mounted. (Thats a ticket I would get if I was pulled over.) So they should probably take that a little more serious they see the plate is missing. The drop off was smooth, but hated that I witnessed an employee talking trash about another worker as if he wasn't busy. I was standing there for a good 5 minutes and can see this man, Joe, working on something with the truck but the lady made it seem like he wasn't doing anything. But long story short, I went to Joe, and he helped me with the drop off, checked my miles, blanks, and hand truck, and I was on my way. He was respectful and had no issue with helping me out. I just wish employees didn't bad mouth their coworkers in from of customers. That's just not...professional on that person. But over all Joe, I get it! Man was busy, but still took care of me. Holy moly - They are busy! I scheduled a trailer hitch installation and they called me to confirm the day before.. called me to see if I was on my way when I was running a few minutes behind and took me immediately and I was out within 1.5 hours. Winston was friendly and efficient. Woman at the front desk is definitely overworked and should have a partner to handle volume of customers flooding through the door. Great experience. I've rented from this U-Haul twice in the past 3 months, once in October and the other just yesterday. I know this location has a lot of bad ratings but I feel it's important to share the good experiences I've had. The first time I rented from this location was the beginning of October. I knew they opened at 7 am and I made sure to arrive about 10 mins. prior. There were a few other people waiting as well. I had to wait about 15 mins. once the door was open, which to me is reasonable. The line did get pretty long behind me. Mr. Curtiz actually serviced me. I'm pretty sure he's the owner, if not he's definitely the manager. I had a good experience and was on my way soon after. I did have to turn around because they forgot to put the equipment I rented in the truck, but I also take responsibility for not remembering to check like the reservation says. So yesterday, I didn't need to start so early. I arrive around 15-20mins prior to my reservation. There was no line whatsoever and I was serviced by Wendy straight away. I told her that I was interested in hiring some of the guys who wait in the parking lot for work. She gave me some good advice and just a few minutes later, Elliott (from South Carolina) came in the door. Wendy told him I needed to hire a couple of movers and told him to give me a good price. He was a really nice guy and I ended up hiring him and Jeff (from JA). My friend was with me as well, which was important to me since I didn't know these guys at all. After working out a price, we all headed to my storage unit. All in all, it took about 5 hours to move everything. Everyone worked together as a team and we were able to move rather quickly. I returned the truck and all was well with checking out. I had a really great moving experience and I would definitely rent my U-haul from this location again. A few pieces of advice: arrive 15 mins. prior to your reservation, if you're renting on a busy day (i.e. the 1st of the month), give yourself enough time and plan ahead, if you have the option to select the guaranteed reservation please do. Everything. Service was awful and slow. I often felt like just being there I was a bother to the employees. If I was looking for a bad attitude during stressful times I definitely came to the right place. To add insult to injury I scheduled a 9:00 am equipment pick up and finally made it on the road at 10:05 am! This resulted in my mover wait (not for free) and caused me to be late for work because I was behind schedule. And there was only 2 patrons ahead of me, so I could not understand what was going on. The truck was filthy and had the stench of weed smoke thanks to the guy hanging out inside the storage space talking on the phone.... I wait till you are done sir, no rush. I wish I could give 0 stars but then I wouldn't be allowed to post this review. After confirming my reservation online I decided to go to the location And speak to the customer service representative by the name of Wendy who had a really terrible attitude when I walked in. Instead of greeting me with something as simple as hello she yelled next... And ask me if I have my credit card and ID with me after 1st asking me for my reservation number which I gave her... She then asked me for my phone number to verify and I gave her my phone number although I use Google Voice, it rings sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't based on the quality of the connection... She refused to rent to me and her reason was that she did not see the Google Voice number ring on my phone when I called but I called their front desk the phone, Another cashier picked up who was on the same shift as she was and it was coming from the Google Voice number but they still refuse to rent it to me because this employee stated that since she could not see it ring although she heard it ring that she could not verify the number as part of their policy. They couldn't verify the policy...it wasn't written anywhere on the website or store...and .it was not on any rental agreement whatsoever...yet they told me that it's an enforceable policy by which they had no proof of it's existence!!!! I called the same store using my google voice number from my phone and it rang. the same lady who denied me service, as a result, picked up the same phone number with google voice on it and displayed it on their caller ID. I then asked to speak with a manager and I was directed to a manager by the name of Curtis Jenkins who in fact stated what the cashier stated. Upon asking him for a copy of the policy he stated that he did not have it but that is the policy... He also suggested that I log on to their network and verify the same number from the phone that I was able to verify earlier but recanted his request by stating if someone needs to contact me then I have to be available to answer... It would be virtually impossible to do if I answer my phone while I'm driving...or texting while driving.. And he ignored the option of u-haul texting me in the event that they need to contact me which he dismissed as an option... He did state that he would contact the marketing manager By the Name of William Wolf in regard to the security policy but couldn't tell me how a marketing manager who was in charge of marketing would know anything about phone verification... I later learned upon speaking to the marketing manager whose name is WILL WOLF is actually the CEO of that division which he stated during our phone call. I have never encountered Such a blatant disregard for customer concerns with policies that cannot be verified but enforced In communities where a large majority of the economically deprived populations will not question. I would suggest that no one Rents at this location.. It would be to go into a more affluent neighborhood for better customer service than this particular location... I will never Refer any of my colleagues or employees to this location ever again... I suggest you do the same!!!!! read more

I truly wished I had a great experience with this location but I don't. I made a reservation approximately three weeks before my move and last minute they change it from Loring Avenue to Flatbush. I got there at 9:30 p.m, to realize that after an hour of trying to figure out what to do through their app system, nothing worked. I called phone support we were provided a passcode and after another hour and a half still no progress. It was almost midnight and I finally asked them what is my best next option. I was advised to come back first thing in the morning. Just to add, that the online phone representative indicated that they will notify the branch of my issue. (Note! no one seems to see any notation of my phone call) Well back again to this location and I had to wait another two(2) hours then to find out that the 20' truck that I reserved was no longer available. I eventually got another reservation for a 10' truck which took me a bit longer with my move. This was just the beginning of my frustration. I am getting billed for the truck I never received and on top of that tolls on this truck as well. I reached out to them to get this resolved, got a reference number, and a week later another email regarding tolls for the 20' reservation that I never got. This is unbelievable they need to get their act together because they seem to be double billing for the same truck I suppose. I need to get my issue resolved. This establishment deserves NO star rating! Not only are ALL of the workers unwilling, but nobody seemed to know a damn thing in there! Beware of the handful of men outside hounding you down to ask if you need help that are not even uhaul workers! They are a nuisance after I told each one No No No!!! All of the workers have heavy West Indian accents that you cannot understand and my family is half West Indian and I did not understand one word! A worker called me and left a message that I left a debit card in the rental, when I called to ask they had me on hold for 20 minutes to tell me that they do not see any card there. I called the following day, the worker told me that I needed to speak to a supervisor who is NEVER available or working. I went in person to wait for more than half n hour to find out that no card was found ... what was the call about because my card was missing!!! So based on these reviews, I was very nervous about booking through this location. But it was the closest to me and I needed to make a last-minute reservation. And, honestly, everything worked out really well. I called Saturday evening for an early Sunday reservation and they had vehicles available for both times I needed (I changed the pickup time after the initial reservation). The wait was a little long to pick up, but not horrible. Picked up my van and we were on our way. Everything went smoothly. I was a little late returning the van because I had to refill the gas, but I called ahead and they said it was OK. When I returned it, I was pleasantly surprised that I would be charged less than initially quoted (I think because I used less mileage than I estimated). But it was straightforward and a great first experience renting a U-haul. Re: the folks who hang out in the parking lot soliciting work-- I just said "No thanks, I'm good" and kept walking; they weren't persistent and didn't bother me. The reason it's not 5 stars is a) the call center that did my reservation (it's outsourced for sure), didn't confirm the spelling of my name and sent my confirmation to the wrong email address. Had I not called the next day to change the reservation time, I wouldn't have known and it may have hindered my pick up process. and b) the van I used was clean, but it stunk of marijuana. Not sure if it's from the last customer or people smoking around it, but I'm sensitive to the smell and didn't like that. Other than that, smooth experience all around. read more

First of all the moment I drove into the lot I was approached by the "freelancers" offering me their services. When you walk in, every in looks away as to not make eye contact so they don't have to deal with you. I ordered and paid for some moving boxes (dish and glass kit) I received my confirmation and went to pick it up. I approach the register and presented my confirmation to the woman behind the register. The woman went over, started pulling my boxes and said we don't have one of the kits and looked at me blankly. I responded to her that I had purposely ordered the boxes online so that I could be assured that they would be there for me. She sort of shrugged and said she understood but they didn't have the boxes. She offered ZERO resolution. So I asked for one. She went to her coworker and explained what was happening. He offered to check another store and to have someone pick it up for me. While that was very nice, I'm moving! I don't have time to waste. I asked how long it would take--his response " usually 15 mins, but it's Friday afternoon and the Jews are out, so longer." By now I thought my head would explode. He offered to put together some other boxes that "might work". I foolishly accepted just so I could get out of there. Once home I looked at what he gave me and decided that it was useless and returned them yesterday. Same creepy dudes outside the store. Same lax service behind the counter. Everything was fine til I returned the van back with the proper amount of gas as they said I took a picture of where I left the tank when I parked it and it matched the line they highlighted exactly. Some how they managed to say I returned it to a less amount and charged me extra for fuel anyway when I payed myself to fill up the tank. Just taking peoples money! read more

I brought my car for wiring service during which the chargers inputs were broken and sold tow kit was not provided by the store. This is the worst Uhaul location in the state of New York. The customer service is horrible and the two women there should not serve as a representation of Uhaul. They are rude. They do not greet you when you enter and the environment is very tense. I gave them a compliment to mellow their mood and they just looked at me. I did not feel like a customer. I felt like I was a helpless person begging them for a service. It should not be like this. I wish that I would give no stars or negative stars. I'll get into more details with corporate but once I got the equipment they treated me as if I wasn't going to return it. They have all of my information! They started to take pictures of the equipment and my vehicle. I have NEVER experienced this in my life! I felt uncomfortable. If you don't trust the customer then don't provide the service! Without the ability to provide a service then Uhaul won't be a functioning company. Even with COVID when you walk in they don't have their mask on. the staff at this u haul kingshighway location are very nasty, disgusting, rude, un professional, liars, obnoxious, no manners, very disrespectful especially the skinny thin jamaican woman with the glasses. it took her about 1 hour to complete my paper work. then her co workers are just standing there laughing and joking around with each other not trying to help. i was mad as hell because that was my first time ever renting a u haul truck and the experience had my high blood pressure very high. for me to ever give this u haul kingshighway location 5 stars, every staff there would have to be replaced. the kingshighway location needs a new team there new manager, new staff. the u haul trucks there need to be serviced and inspected on a regular base. the truck i rented really felt like it was going to break down, the fuel was almost on empty, the shocks on the truck needs to be changed. the rating i give on the truck i rented is a big zero,, 0. also kingshighway location has a bunch of guys hanging around and infront of this place of business which is not good and bad for business, these guys harass people including myself trying to pressure people and myself to use there personal trucks... you would think management would stop this harassment but they dont. the ceo boss thats in charged of u haul please fix this problem, until then u haul lost my business. read more
