Acceptable, but a bit a mixed bag. I haven't used U-Haul for years and apparently a lot of things changed during that time. I reserved a specific van a few weeks ahead of time on their website, along with some blankets and a hand truck that you naturally have to pay extra for. Since that day, I'd get an email every other day trying to sell me their storage and extras, which I found annoying. When I arrived, I was told to download the app or use my phone browser and register that way. The whole process was easy, but it took a little while to complete all the prompts. Finally, when done I was given the key and that was that. I seem to remember a time when they'd come out with you and all that, but no longer. I had to use the button on the key fob to actually find my van in the lot, since I was not told exactly where it was and there's several of the same types in the lot. The van of course was much bigger than the one I had originally reserved. Not being that type of customer, I just accepted it because I was eager to just get out of there and do my thing. You have to use their app to take pictures of everything, which took several minutes. I was going to take pictures for myself anyway in case they'd try to play games at drop off, but this was time consuming having to go through their app, the picture angles, and all the prompts. The hand truck and blankets I reserved were not in the van, so I had to go back inside and they just pointed to where they were - nice of them not to actually tell me that before I left the first time. Again, they used to come out with you and do the full customer service thing - but times have changed I guess. This is not a knock against the lone employee I interacted with - he was very friendly and just doing what he's required to do. I blame the business for lack of many things. Once I was out of there and on my time, everything was smooth because I know what I'm doing. I brought the van back 2 hours earlier than anticipated and put it back in the spot I initially pulled out of. When I went back inside to drop the key off, I was told I needed to drop it off in a specific area on the side of the building and do all the app prompts. Again, things used to be very different. I also wasn't told where I needed to drop the vehicle off previously, so how was I supposed to know that. Once dropped off, you have to take pics again and follow all the prompts. It's not an ideal area to take some of the pictures they require on their app. They have employees there to "clean up" and inspect after you leave. The process as a whole was easy, but annoying and not as 'customer service' friendly as it used to be. It's also a little more expensive than it probably needed to be, to where I'm going to look up competitors for the next time I'm in need of one of their vehicles. Great location to rent a UHaul, easy access for pick up and drop off. Great staff, also able to rent storage too , a lot of supplies to choose from, close to Main Street, easy pathway to expressway and interstate line , prices you can't beat. The staff here were possibly the nicest U-Haul employees I've ever met. A young lady helped me check in, and was patient and diligent in making sure I was ready to go. I do have to say the trick was really dusty! A bit surprised that it wasn't cleaner but with the speed and great service I was in and out with my rental in less than 20 min! If you can find ANY other place for renting a bigger vehicle for moving or storage, please go there instead of here. This U-Haul place was literally the WORST one I been to. The sales associate I dealt with was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. I felt like I was dealing with a child. I felt so embarrassed for her, but I needed the truck. She was shouting at customers and cursing along with her obnoxious behavior. I will never go back to this U-Haul and I highly recommend you all to find another alternate. read more

This place rented a truck to a guy with my license information. He didn't pay his bill, & several years later, I was moving & rented from them. The morning I went to get the truck, after reserving one they said they didn't have one & I had to go 35 miles over the Tappan Zee bridge to get one. Now they tell me I am on a list not to rent to. This douche bag didn't pay & I had to pay his bill BEFORE they would rent to me. I was stuck, moving that day & needing a truck. I tried several times they WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY. What an awful experience. I strongly suggest that you go elsewhere if you are thinking about patronizing the Yonkers UHaul location. Here is what happened to me... I made an appointment on UHauls's online site on May 26th for a trailer hitch installation the following week. I received a email confirming my order which stated "On Saturday June 3, 2017, you should plan for the hitch installation to take up to three hours. You are welcome to leave your vehicle with us and we will call you when the job is done." On June 3, I arrived at the center at the time I reserved and was quickly told that the center had no installations schedule for this day. I was told that the installer had the day off. Upon further questioning, I was informed by the manager that I had a email conforming my date and she proceeded to tell me that the date I was given was "my preferred date" and that this was not guaranteed. Are you kidding me!? At no time was I informed of this. Is it wrong to assume that when you choose a date/time and you received a confirmation email that this is when the service will be provided? Why offer the date if no one is to assist? Apparently I am expected to be availalble whenever UHaul installer is around? Outrageous!!! To add insult to injury, the manager told me that the "installer needs a day off too." UHaul Yonkers wasted my time and completely screwed up my plans for the day. Lousy experience getting a truck this morning. Despite having Express service, waited half an hour as only one person there to help. What's the point of calling something "Express" if it isn't fast? They required 4 telephone numbers to rent a truck!!!! She said "what if we can't reach you to get our equipment back?" Ok, you have my license information and my credit card. How is 4 telephone numbers that you don't check the veracity of going to help? Last, got fooled by the gas mileage. Watch out...plenty of bad attitude here... Not willing to help when asked for: Locked elevator and she accused that I did use the card too much going up and down. Then she says you have to wait 2 minutes...then she says wait 5 minutes... Are you kidding? When i invited to clear to elevator, eventually she did it took her 2 seconds!!! Sorry to bother U-haul... I'll take my business elsewhere. When you have such lousy workers is because of bad management. And you could also explain them that when someone says "Thank You" you should also acknowledged it instead of walking away with still such a bad attitude. If I could give zero stars, Please believe I would. Never visited a business with such poor customer service and just a poor facility. Three times this month Ive visited and the elevator is out of service. Clearly everyone is miserable. And I'm sure it's bc they get yelled at constantly by unhappy customers bc the place is shit. It's a never ending cycle. I have alotttttt in storage and If moving everything elsewhere wasn't such a hassle I would've left by now. I can't believe I give them $180 a month. read more

This location is awful. It's worth driving a little farther to deal with competent people. The manager had an attitude from the beginning. I rented a trailer to haul a motorcycle and specifically reserved one with a ramp. After driving almost two hours, I realized they gave me the wrong trailer with no ramp. I wasted my entire day. I bought the hitch, straps, and accessories necessary to transport the motorcycle, and despite me not being able to use them, they refused to give me a credit. They are rude and incompetent, especially the manager. read more

This place is filthy, I mean moldy, dusty , dead bug covered, spider web filthy, I have 2 storage units, I went to give a family member an AC unit, a chair and 2 end tables, the unit smelled moldy, obvious liquid stains on furniture and ac's there were flecks of paint and a thick coating of a white talc like dust all over everything, you could smell the mold when you stepped off the elevator. The manager kept saying it looks find to me, I don't see anything wrong. I mean the ceiling above the unit was peeling the netting was bent and a gigantic AC unit was bolted into the ceiling I am not stupid I know there was a broken pipe or something , the rug was pulled up in front of the unit. So after saving this stuff for almost a year and paying storage I now have to find someone to haul this junk away.
