You cannot come back with your own padlock later. I pass 4 other storage facilities on the way to this unit. It is worth the trip. Manager Theo And everyone else inside the office and out are attentive and courteous. The place is immaculate, I have never seen such a pristine storage facility. The bathroom as well. Customer receives a unique code to access the facility. You drive your vehicle in, and park on the right (see video). There are large lifts that you can put your items onto; they bring them up to the floor that your unit is on (assuming it is not on the first floor). You can then take the stairs or the elevator to retrieve your items. Unlike my last place, where you had to wait and/or argue with other customers for use of a dolly, there seem to be enough for everyone, and you check them out in the office. I was driving a U-Haul, and they helped me get in and out, which is above and beyond in my book. All around a great experience. I would highly recommend, especially if you have been underwhelmed by other options in the area.

The website states they accept cash payments but when you get there the reps say they don't accept cash payments even though it clearly says it on the website. You call customer service and there's no option to speak to a live person. You have to send an email. They pride themselves on being voted the best customer service yet it doesn't live up to the standards.

After a few years, you'll find yourself paying a multiple of the current online price. What you should do is rent another unit (you might need to find somebody else to rent it for you) and move all your stuff. I would have saved multiple thousands of dollars per year had I realized that all along. Some years back, they had a flood due to a contractor breaking their sprinkler system. They disclaimed responsibility for damage, stating that their contract said they weren't responsible for negligence. Fortunately, my unit wasn't affected, else I would have had to go after them for gross negligence (which cannot be disclaimed by contract).

I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. I rented a unit from this facility for close to two years. I paid on time every month and caused no…read moreissues. From time to time with no proper notice, the price of my unit would jump up tremendously. When I would call to inquire as to why, "that's just the way it worked there," I was told. The price became so high ($371 a month for a 10 X 10 unit) I had no choice but to leave - which cost me more unnecessary money. I had to rent a truck and hire movers to help move me to another storage facility, not too far from this one to get the same size unit for $169 a month - that's $200 less!!! You would think someone which a sound business mind would make sure their rates were competitive and that they would want to retain good tenants - but not here. Greed reigns over integrity and good business practices here. All to say I'm happily out of there but the BS has t stopped. As of recently my phone has been blowing up from a collection agency claiming that I owe this place money, when everything has been squared away and settled. My entire life I've maintained perfect credit and I'll be damned if this place of business that lacks basic integrity is going to screw that up for me over a false claim. I've tried to get ahold of management multiple times - have been told that 'Greg' would get back to me to address this issue and weeks later I'm still waiting for that call.
