I'm a former FBOP customer who frankly wishes that our government had just left that bank alone. But no such luck, so I press on with my account now at US Bank. I've experienced a lack of responsiveness at other US Bank branches, but not this one. They've always been helpful with servicing my needs. They do subcontract a foreign exchange service at this bank which they'd be better off without as one can do better exchanging their money almost anywhere else. I don't necessarily doubt the thoughts of the other reviewers - maybe my luck has been better here. To me, going to Chase is like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire - they're no great shakes either. Incompetence reigns suppreme at this location. Nothing but fingerpointing when they screw up. Called my yesterday just to waste time. No, I don't enjoy chatting with my banker. He wanted information he already had . . . I guess he doesn't know how to access his own bank records. Chris just wastes time . . . maybe he doesn't have enough work to keep himself busy. But, moving up the ranks, their HQ isn't much better, and the CEO doesn't know how to reply to inquiries. You're better putting your money under a matress than dealing with these people. read more

Most consumer banks want you to believe they are people who help people, etc. This bank actually performs up to that standard, without eye rolls or complaint, every time. This branch is low key, but very helpful and accommodating. I have needed notary services in the past few years, and US Bank, Deerfield is always ready and willing to help. These are nice people who do want to help and seem to consistently out-perform their nearby competitors. I love the convenience and friendliness of this bank! read more

I have been with US Bank, specifically , Deerfield location for over 12 years. As a professional and an attorney, I have an eye for service and professionalism. This Branch has turned around and made me loyal customer. Staff is great, always pleasant and greeting my wife an I by our names, management and bankers are knowledgable and response to any need within hours or a call back in days. I find this branch a pleasure to deal with and I find US Bank, 5th largest bank in US, as accessible to me as a hometown community bank. People here are mean and unfriendly. I decided to switch to chase (great decision) and when I tell them at US bank they tell me how I can't switch and my money is better with them. Not budging at all it took 45 minutes for them to print the check for me. read more

This bank is a total joke. Somehow worse than other awful large banks. Jim Carrillo really made the loan process 10x longer and more difficult than it had to be, clearly inexperienced and extremely unprofessional. Would avoid this bank at all costs. read more

I have been a customer here for the last 8 years. In that time, the service has gotten worse. The only reason I still have an account here is because my father carries an account here, and when I am in need, the transactions between accounts is relatively easy. So, to potential customers, I am will enumerate some things you should consider: 1. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU UNLESS YOU HAVE A BIG BALANCE: I have noticed a big disparity in how this US Bank treats its customers. As a person with a student checking account, any time I have a problem that needs to be addressed, the bank gives me the runaround and basically ignores my issue. However, when my father, a person with US Bank trust account, calls on my behalf, the employees bend over backwards to clear up the issue. I find it ridiculous that in order to be helped, I have to have my father call in. US Bank likes to market themselves as a trusting bank that takes care of every single customer, but from my experience, they only really care about you if you are carrying a big balance. 2. AT US BANK, THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS WRONG AND THEY MAKE YOU PAY FOR IT: As a preface, I admittedly have trouble with overdraft charges. However, I was raised correctly and I know when to suffer the consequences of my actions. I went in today to discuss some unwarranted overdraft fees that happened a couple months ago. It is important to note that I have tried to contact them about this issue via fax and phone when I was in California, and I never got a response.At $37.50 a pop, it's hard to take the overdraft fees lightly when US Bank charges them so willy-nilly. In my specific case, my account was in the negative, during which two transactions were charged (resulting in three overdraft fees that I take complete responsibility for). That same day, I amassed 200 bucks and deposited it to cover the fees and my negative balance. After having the teller assure me the money went in my account and that I was in the clear, I was still charged two more overdraft fees the next couple days for supposedly carrying a negative balance when my bank account showed a positive balance. These overdraft fees were not charged as a result of any purchases I made when my balance was negative. In other words, they don't match up to the activity on my account. When I went to discuss this at the Deerfield bank, the teller passed me to Tony, who must be some sort of manager. He initially did try to look at the issue, but five minutes into our conversation, he became hostile and raised his tone. He tried to tell me that since my statement lists 5 overdraft fees in that period, that they must be true and that "this bank does not make mistakes." I asked him to look at the balances I had at the time to show where it went wrong, and he refused. I don't call that customer service, and more importantly...HOW CAN YOU MAKE SUCH AN ALL-INCLUSIVE STATEMENT ABOUT A CORPORATION NEVER MAKING MISTAKES?!?!? The overdraft fees may be set up through a computer program, but for every computer program there is a human behind it. We are not an infallible species and I found Tony's comment to be unforgivably ignorant, especially when he stubbornly stood behind it after I questioned his logic. Not only that, but he treated me with disrespect and accused me of "being upset because you are not getting your way" when he refused to look at my balances and had no sufficient evidence to automatically assume I was wrong. I am just amazed that Tony would be that outright rude to a customer of 8 years and be so unwilling to help or actually do more than a cursory examination of the issue. Needless to say, don't go here for the service. If you like being personally attacked and having your issues ignored, by all means, set up an account and request Tony. 3.IT'S NOT JUST ME: Yes, I realize this post is a bit of a rant, but this bank has continually treated me like scum on the bottom of their shoe. And I am not the only one. While I was in line to talk to Tony, a guy behind heard what was happening and chirped in with his own story. Apparently he's been banking there for 6 years, has two businesses, and has been having the same exact problems as me. Coincidence? I think not. I've had family members who've also switched for similar reasons. In all: Skip US Bank. The fees are exorbitant and the staff at Deerfield, especially Tony, don't really care about helping you. They just care about the income from the fees. Do you know last year alone the banking industry earned 27 billion dollars on fees ALONE?! Now that tells me that, in this economic age, something just isn't right. There is something stinking at US Bank and it isn't their customers. and to Tony: If your bank "doesn't make mistakes," then why was there a line of people waiting to discuss the mistakes your bank supposedly doesn't make??? Do yourself a favor, skip the banks and go to a credit union. They don't do that fee crap and it's community owned so they care. read more

Very dissapointed. Manager is disrespectful of your time, unprofessional and not eager to earn a new customers. Came in to have my paper notarize and no one had a notary stamp. Came back the following day, there was a person at the banker desk and I asked if someone can notarize for me , he replied I'm not sure, you need to go to teller line . I approached the teller line and saw a managers office, I knocked and asked if he can help me, he mentioned that I need to wait for the guy on teller line, so I waited in line and there was 1 more person behind me. Jimmy Carrillo came out and told me to have a seat and he will get him for me. I waited in waiting area until teller with authorities took next customer and I spend 10 min. waiting. I'm a working person as well and I needed to return to work, so I asked Jimmy Carrillo/Manager how long it will take, he replied by asking me if I have an account and I don't but I have a credit card and I used to work for US Bank. He replied that he is unable to notarize because I need to have deposit account. As a manager he should know better than that and ask me that question first and not making me loose my turn in line and sit and wait for 10 min. I could of find out that I cannot have it done 10 min earlier and not waist my time. read more

Holly crap, these people are NOT interested in customer service. I needed to help a friend in need so I went on Western Union's web site and it showed this US Bank in Deerfield as a full service location. As I drove by the front door I saw the Western Union sign light above the door. I parked around the back and went in and up to the teller counter and said hello to a man sitting on a stool 20 feet back from the counter. I was ignored in favor of his cell phone. I repeated my hello twice before I was answered with a terse "what" I told him I wanted to send a western union he asked "do you have an account here?" I said no and he turned back to his stool and phone as he answered "that for bank customers." I said " I may not have an account but I am standing at the counter and I am a customer and based on the disrespectful attitude I getting from you I doubt I ever will be. I am a customer of western union and you are a full service agent" so get up and put your phone down and spend 5 minutes processing my western union OR take the sign of the door that says your a Western Union to everyone passing by. He ignored me and I looked around and there was no one in sight. I said in a loud voice "is there anyone working here?" Without looking up He said "good luck with that everyone's in a meeting." I've been a customer of this bank for many years, but the level of service I have experienced under new management now is really amazing. Branch Manager, Syed is really turning this place around. You would not see managers hop on to help the teller line at other branches unlike here. He hired the entire new team of professionals who have many years of banking experience. Everytime I walk in, I get greeted with smile and people use my name. I know a lot of people in the Deerfield community and will be referring a lot of people back to this branch. My daughter and I went into the Deerfield branch to have something put on her account letting them know she would be in Europe traveling this semester so they wouldn't shut her account down for all her travels. She is standing in the airport in France because US Bank, in fact, shut her account down. I called the Deerfield branch about 10 times this afternoon, with NO return call. Guess they don't anticipate EMERGENCIES!!!!!! I am resolving this situation through the 800 number. US Bank...replace your branch manager with someone who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

credit unions are banks and all financial institutions charge fees to get operating dollars. in today's electronic age you must check your account at the first over draft to stop a spiral. That said - there is no excuse for bad service in any business. read more
