You can probably walk the entire strip in about 4 minutes so if you're go a hour long walk, know you'll be going back and forth a few dozen times. What I do like about it is that the grassy area is just all grass and relatively flat. You can lay out. You can do cartwheels. You can play frisbee. But it does feel like as soon as there is 20 people here, it would feel crowded. Plenty of parking in the surrounding neighborhood or on the street.

We had limited time at the reserve, so we entered through the south entrance and paid $20 to enter and park. We then made our way up to the visitor center and had no issues finding parking. During our visit, we did the Guy Fleming Trail, which is a very easy and scenic 0.8-mile loop. The cliff views were dramatic and beautiful, and we also loved that the trail felt very peaceful and quiet. Afterward, we drove down to the beach lot and walked along the beach for about an hour to admire the cliffs from below. Overall, it was an amazing visit and one of our favorite stops in San Diego. I would definitely return again.

The differences in quality are glaring when comparing this privately maintained park and most other City of San Diego parks. The grass here is perfect. The equipment is in good shape for being constantly exposed to the elements. The trees are well maintained. Everything is clean. One day I noticed a wooden post and railing was repaired in less than 2 days! The lawns are very spacious and the track that runs around the perimeter is great for jogging and walks. There are also many exercise "stations" along the track. Most of which are rarely used. I think that's mainly because a lot of these stations are somewhat unnecessary (arbitrary stretching, odd exercises, etc). I just wish they had more pull-up bars.

The Rose Canyon Trail is in the University City area and encompasses an almost nine mile round trip…read morefrom just west of I-805 down to where I-5 and SR-52 merge. It's a pretty flat trek with a couple of small hills. You're basically hiking near a creek bed in an urban canyon. The main path was quite wide, almost like a service road. Consequently, you will find many bikers, joggers, and dog walkers here. I entered the open space off the north end of Regents Road. This led to a much shorter hike that was about four miles to the end and back. The trail ran southwest and then parallel to I-5 southward before ending at the underpass where SR-52 began heading east. During winter, rainfall can cause a few low lying spots to form puddles. This can partially block off the path, but nothing which makes the trail impassable. If you live in the vicinity and want to stroll around while enjoying nature, this park and its trail are suitable options. The hike is not strenuous at all, and there are options to make the length shorter if desired.
