As a woman, I was made to feel uncomfortable and devalued in my place in the world as soon as I walked into the Parmer location. One of the tellers was talking proudly of how his wife exists specifically for him and when his female coworkers expressed their shock of his world view, he dismissed it as perfectly fine and acceptable thinking because he "married traditional." He was defending his belief that his wife shouldn't be allowed to work because of this. Again, as a woman I felt immediately devalued, objectified, lesser than, and unwelcome here. Everyone deserves to live their life how they want (as long as no harm is being done to themselves or others) but this made me, as a customer and member, feel like atrocious garbage just by existing in this space. I couldn't leave fast enough and I will not be returning to this location. I'm giving 2 stars only because I did have a good experience with one of the managers when she helped me set up my account. Working with her was a smooth process and I felt valued as a member. read more

i agree with the other reviewers and I didn't even know that they don't participate in the shared branch network. I was so excited when they were building this location. I pass it all the time on my way from my house to the Starbucks. Its convenient for the ATMs, which I do use more often than tellers, but really? Not one teller? No way I can withdraw or deposit large sums of cash? That is ridiculous!! It's true, you drive around the parking lot aimlessly, then walk in to see no one helping you and when you finally ask someone a direct question, they tell you to use the machine. I WALKED into the bank to avoid using the machine! UFCU, do something about this. You are better than this. read more

Parking lot is horrendous. Almost got into a wreck each time I went. Hardly any room to navigate, and there is a stream of cars backed up. Then inside, it's full of people standing and sitting in a bunch of chairs and you have to get a number at a computer. Second time just left and went to the Steck location ten minutes before it closed (delayed due to dealing with Scofield location), and there was virtually no line, waited a couple of minutes and had a teller, the coin counting machine actually works, and easy parking. Scofield, NEVER AGAIN, despite being just up the street from me compared to the Steck location. read more

I use UFCU as a shared branch for my company's credit union. I was excited to see one open so close to my house. I went thru the drive thru to make a withdrawal. It was only ATM's, no services. Went inside branch. It looked like the freakin' bridge of the "Enterprise". Just a bank of machines. No directions as to where/what to do. Saw only 3 actual people. Stood there almost 5 minutes before anyone spoke to me. This branch is totally useless to me because my CU account is savings only. This branch does not have any services except ATM functions. They built a whole huge building as an ATM portal? Wasteful. Useless. The other branches with real people are good, but I'd hate to see their whole business model follow this. Hate it. read more

WARNING!!! If you want to save yourself LOTS of frustration, time, and being inconvenienced DON'T bank with UFCU!!! So many issues w/ this Parmer location & just the way UFCU operates as a whole. The ATM machines never work, the parking lot is way toooooo small, and with there being no bank tellers it just has poor customer service. I am so frustrated with this location right now. I just dropped by after hours to deposit some cash so my account didn't go over due to a bill that's coming out tomorrow. Not one of their outdoor ATM's would accept the cash. I only had a total of 10 bills & it specifically said it could accept up to 50. I seriously went from ATM to ATM trying to put in my cash, all which were nice and crisp. The first one was broken completely, that's fine, so moving on to the second one, there was no option at all to deposit cash into checking, only checks. The button wasn't even there. Moved on to the third one, it had the button to receive cash but spit it out each time (I'm not kidding, it was ridiculous) moved on the the 4th one, another machine without a button to deposit cash into checking. I seriously can't believe a location that is known as solely an ATM hub couldn't accept my bills. Went over to pflugerville and got them in right away. This is third strike for UFCU. I'm transferring ASAP to Wells Fargo. (I would go into my other experiences, but their just long frustrating examples of customer service needs that haven't been met). Would prefer to stay local but I need a bank that I can rely on. read more

Stopped in to check the status on my home mortgage loan, was able to log in, print documents, and was out the door in less than 5 min. I was immediately greeted by a very friendly and nice employee who was able to help me. Love UFCU, and am switching all of my banking to them, as soon as I close on my house. I also have an account with Chase-and it is a constant drag to deal with them-long waits, rude employees-and forget trying to get a home loan through them! read more

I live 20 minutes away from the closest branch - that's how much I love having UFCU as a bank. In this particular case, I had an issue that required me to go into Austin to go to a branch. I was angry that I had to go, but the people that work in this branch are very polite and helpful. Leslie did a great job, considering how angry I was that I had to be there to begin with. That said, after filling out a survey, I was contacted by the manager, Rachel. I am happy that UFCU has people like Leslie and Rachel that work for them. It's always nice to have people who can talk you out of your tree.... That said, I agree with other reviewers on the parking situation. When the parking lot is full at the end of swing shift, you know you have a problem. read more

This is one of their 'interactive' branches, which is code for no tellers. They are trying to lower labor costs by pushing their members to use the machines which are nothing more than ATMs. Just come here on a Saturday if you want to see how well that is working. The lobby is standing room only. The wait could be upwards of an hour for the most basic of account services because they are so severely understaffed. It is like that every time I've been here. Not sure why I haven't learned my lesson yet. I guess I have been naively hoping they will learn how to staff a branch. I suppose that was wishful thinking. Never again. read more

Went to the bank this morning to get a temporary card. The bank opens at 10 I got there at 9:40 so I could be the first person. There were two gentlemen in front of me. They open the doors people rush in and they tell me it's the first five people in the door. Manager was in the parking lot picking up trash she saw me. She tells me sorry you'll have to sign in and now I'm the last person in line. When I go to the UFCU on Brodie I get amazing Customer service every time I come to this one it's HORRIBLE. I'd rather make a 40 minute drive where I get outstanding service that to this one. They need a new manager or a better system for people who get there early as it's unfair. I am writing this out of the sheer horror of how I have been treated as a UFCU member with 12 plus years to my credit. I have been making frequent large deposits from an older savings account into my UFCU account since it is linked to my billpay and linked to the University of Texas where I need to pay for classes. Last Friday evening at 6 pm , I attempted to deposit a large amount of money into the drive through banking machine. I have used these frequently without any problems . However , this night, it took all of my money and then instead of counting it and displaying a balance it stated that the bills were rejected .....without returning my bills. It then showed a message stating that the transaction was cancelled and returned everything to the home screen. I checked my balance and noticed that none of the money was put into my account. I pulled around to the other atm to see if maybe this one would accept money and to see what the balance would state. I put in twenty and it took it, deposited into my account and showed the balance. Needless to say, I spent my Saturday on the phone with UFCU then at the bank, canceling my camping trip since it was almost three to four hours of the day wasted trying to explain what happened while I got laughed at on the phone. I was reassured by statements like "Are you sure ?, because this has never happened before" "Are you sure you put money in there?" "Um are you sure that you aren't confused ?" Followed by them recounting my incredulous story to a coworker while stifling giggles ....Yes I was actually laughed at by two different people over the span of a week. Jeez, I was starting to feel like I had walked in there looking like the pigeon lady from Mary Poppins because of the attitude I was getting. To top it off, they asked me why I deposited $20 in the other ATM, and tried to tell me that was the only transaction that showed on the computers. Not at any point did anyone tell me they would find my money, or help me. They only stated that it was unlikely to have happened and the machines have never made a mistake like that. I feel so freaking lucky that I am the first and only one then so I can be treated like crap. After being interrogated without one single apology from UFCU or reassurance that they would find my money , the only consolation I got from anyone.... (granted at this point I had told my story to four different people ) was that IF the money was there they would find it. Well they still havent found it, I still cant register for my classes until I know that the money is "found" . Only one person seemed to actually believe me and I hope she can find out what happened. Everyone else has done nothing short of calling me a liar and laughing in my face or over the phone. Its a bank not a flea market. They should have been able to figure this out by now and to me this is nothing short of stealing my money when it is five days later and they still can't figure out what happened. Good luck putting your money into the machines, and good luck trying to get anyone to give a flying f@#$%. I guess they found the money I put in there , it only took a month. If anything, I want to keep this review up since it is a testament to the fact that this did happen to someone so in the future you will know that you are not crazy and that machines can make mistakes if it happens to you. read more

This is a seriously weird and ill thought out location. They have a 4-5 line drive thru that's ATM's only. Not a single drive thru teller. Also, the parking lot is so small, they have people parking in random areas of their drive thru ATM area. I came in and was dealt with quickly and easily but this location is just like half of a branch. read more

I really should of switched to a credit union last year when the whole occupy movement/ anti-Bank of America thing was going on. I made the switch last month and am shocked by not only their wonderful customer service but how they truly go above and beyond what I thought a bank would ever do. After signing up for free checking/savings accounts they sent me 6 free books of checks and even left me a voice-mail welcoming me and urging me to call if the could assist me in any way. I got an auto loan from them with only 2.15% interest and they even hooked me up with new home & auto insurance policies where I now save $350 a year plus have coverage on a second vehicle I didn't have under my old insurance! UFCU rules! read more

I currently have several business and personal accounts with this bank. Including car loans 2 of them. I have spoke to tellers inside this bank and tellers over the phone and none of them can do there jobs right. I will take my business and my loans to a bank that has more respect for there customers and there money. Don't use this bank. There is no communication between any of them. None of the departments put notes in the system and when you call them out in it they get really rude because you have found out that they are not doing there job correctly. I went in because I had a slightly complicated deposit and needed a person to do it so my funds wouldn't be held. I went in and was told by a physical person that I had to do it on the ATM. I asked if this would cause my funds to be held and she said they would but she'd be able to release some of them. The checks I had were not personal checks, they were guaranteed funds and therefore should not require a hold. I asked her if the hold would still be put on it even though this was the case and she asked someone else and came back with a yes. I don't understand why they have employees there if they're not willing to help in situations like this, especially since so much of what they do is telling people to use the ATM. They should relabel it on their website as ATM only. Just go to the Steck location. They're quick and do it right. read more

Rarely do you expect to have a bank actually fight for you. After a less than generous auto loan offer from Bank of America, I tried with UFCU. I cannot even begin to stress how amazing and helpful they have been! The loan department will outline what a good deal is and what isn't, which provides an immense amount of purchasing confidence. If you are considering an auto loan, UFCU is the place to go! Their Gap insurance is easy to roll into your loan and priced well. But most importantly, their extended warranty is the bomb! In fact, I have had friends and the dealership praise the company with whom they contract for the service. Great work UFCU! You've made a customer for life out of me! read more

I absolutely love this bank. I started out with Wells Fargo and dealt with their bull for YEARS (another story but Yelp limits typing space lol) before I found out I could have an account at UFCU. I was always under the impression that you had to be affiliated with UT, the school districts, or local government to have an account because that was experiences I had with other CU's. I tried repeatedly to build my credit with Wells Fargo. It was always one lame reason or another why they wouldn't help me...usually because my account looked torn up because of THEIR mistakes that they had to repeatedly correct. I have had UFCU over a year now and have never been charged some random or bogus fee, and have never had an overdraft charge....but with Wells Fargo, it was my fault, right? I bought a new car and because of my insufficient credit, I ended up with a really high interest rate. I took it because my other car was on its last let and I needed something reliable. At that point, I had found out that anyone can have an account with UFCU so the day after I bought the car, I went over to the branch to open an account with them in hopes of being able to re-fi the car loan after a while. In the meantime, I wanted to start putting in some time with them. Closing my WF account was a major perk too. After a couple of months, I applied for a credit card through them to build my credit score and credit with them. I didn't need the funds from the card, it was strictly to use for fuel costs that I already had budgeted anyway. I would just use the credit card at the pump instead of my debit card.The counselor called me within 20 minutes of applying and told me I didn't qualify for that yet because of past credit and not enough time with them. I understood. I figured it was a long shot anyway. What I was not expecting was for him to offer me an option to help me establish that good relationship with them for future loans/cards. Because he knew I didn't need the extra funds for anything he suggested a secured loan at their lowest amount available. It would build history with them and improve my payment history on my credit. I wasn't so sure about that because I had bills to pay with the payroll check I had just received. He ensured me they would take the deposit and the loan funds would immediately be put back into my account so I could pay my bills. I didn't get any extra cash out of it but I basically paid a whopping $3 over a 6 month period to swap money back and forth. $3 is worth it. After that was paid off, I was eligible for an unsecured loan which I took advantage of. That rep also gave me credit advice. So, I have nothing but good things to say about the helpful reps in their loan department. Banks make money off of loans but I felt these reps were genuine in wanting to help me rebuild my credit. Even their car insurance rep passed on a "sale" because their rate was only going to save me a like $2 a month. It wasn't worth the hassle for me at that point. I have only ever gone into a branch twice and both times it was the Scofield branch on Parmer. The first time was to open the account. The second time I went was because I needed to use the ATM but figured while I was there, I would go ahead and go inside and inquire on some various loan details, not to get a loan, just to ask some questions. There were quite a few people waiting which in my past experiences anywhere else meant I was going to be there a while. Not so, at least at this branch. I waited maybe 5 minutes before a rep came to get me. He respected that I was not looking to take out a loan at that time and didn't try to sell me on one, he gave me the answers I needed for future reference, and some additional credit building tips. One thing I have noticed with these guys is that no matter what rep I have talked to, when I mention "credit rebuilding" they all give me a mini-consult with tips and advice at no charge to me. Go to anyone else for a credit consult and you are shelling out more than pocket change to get it. My complaints about UFCU branches are minimal. -Why can I withdrawal cash from the ATM but I cannot deposit it (at some, not all)? Mobile deposits for checks is actually nicer than I thought it would be. -A few more locations would be nice, but I am sure those are coming eventually. My biggest complaint is about the online banking. -Money manager is a great tool for budgeting. It seems to "experience difficulties" quite often which requires me to have to keep track of my budget in two different places which is time consuming. -The time out with online banking. When I am in the middle budgeting, it times out and logs me out even if I am active on the site. -Some people do tentative budgets for the months to come instead of one month at a time. It would be nice if I didn't have to click through every calendar month to get back to the one I am working on after every entry or change I make. read more
