I was told I had to find someone to sublet my room or I was stuck there. i had to do every thing myself with no help from these people. They are known to do this to a lot of college students. They have given students less than a week notice to move out due to them only allowing people from a certain college to stay there. HORRIBLE PEOPLE! The property manager is refusing to give me my check for my deposit until I pay them my sublet fee first. which I would like to use that check to pay it. Please please please do not live here!! I made a complaint to the higher ups and they pushed it aside and allowed this man to still work there. Ridiculous!! I'll start with the worst part of my stay: I was assaulted by another tenant and after informing management, THEY TOLD HIM I HAD FILED A REPORT BEFORE POLICE HAD EVEN GOTTEN A CHANCE TO SPEAK TO HIM. They did this knowing they had taken the keys from one of my roommates because she had not paid her rent, and she would leave our FRONT DOOR OPEN making a VERY unsafe situation for me, especially since the person who attacked me was aware she did that. They told me if they had a police report, they could end my lease early but then changed their minds and said they couldn't do anything unless my attacker was arrested. That is a policy they should be extremely clear on and reevaluate, as investigations can take months. I was moved to an apartment on the same floor as my attacker & spent six months trying not to run into him on my way in & out of my apartment. In addition, male maintenance workers entered our all female apartment multiple times without announcing themselves, once while I was alone and in the shower. Management takes advantage of the rental laws regarding 24 hours notice, since we are just renting rooms, they would frequently enter the apartment with no notice to "inspect" empty rooms and common areas, a legal loophole. Even after asking if management could just call me on their way up so I would be prepared, they told me it was an unreasonable request & would show up with no warning. Lastly, management uses intimidation tactics. Unbeknownst to me, a guest of mine had caused damage to a lobby bathroom. Management brought me into the office and began yelling at me for "breaking HIS sink" and told me to "stop lying" when I told him I had no clue what he was talking about. I asked to be shown security footage and the person who had caused damage looked NOTHING like me. I was more than happy to abide by my lease & pay for damages caused by my guest, but Jonathon handled everything wrong by dragging a 20 year old girl into the office to berate and yell at without even examining the security footage. There is more, but these were the most significant events. I knew many people during my stay who had equally bad and unprofessional experiences. My stay here was horrendous and I highly doubt it has gotten ANY better in the couple of years it's been since I moved out, especially because corporate did not care when contacted about these issues. Please, find somewhere else for your student to live. The proximity to SCCC and other schools is NOT worth it.
