While at the hospital, I had to pick an on-call pediatrician from one of two places in Georgetown to come examine the baby. After having a sour experience with the other office, I choose Bluegrass Pediatrics. I met Dr. Knight that evening at Georgetown Hospital and liked him so much that we decided to stick with him at Bluegrass Pediatrics instead of the pediatrician in Lexington that I had originally planned to see. I'm glad we did. Dr. Knight has given us the best care, always listening to us -- even if he didn't agree with us. The staff members at Bluegrass Pediatrics itself are very friendly and polite. They are also quick to get us in for an appointment within the same or next day as needed.... and have a pediatrician available for phone calls when office hours are closed. The office may not be bright and flashy, but don't let that fool you. (They are also a family practice, it's not just for kids -- so your kids can go here for their entire lives!) There is also a separate sick and well area, although you have to walk through the sick area to get to the front desk/doctor anyway. Sadly, we are not currently patients at Bluegrass Pediatrics as of this month because of a change in insurance. It is a bit frustrating (especially as we had a medical need for our child recently), but it is what it is. I'm still thankful for the care my son received here. Highly recommend.

We asked a few questions and the response was always a stern "no" no explanation...nothing. The lady at the front desk doesn't greet you and she doesn't relay messages to the physicians. I had some test come back "low" and nothing was ever explained to me. This is my first pregnancy and I wasn't treated like I would expect to be treated. I was treated as if it was just a job to them. I have now found me a great place, that is very friendly and that explains everything to me I never have any questions when I leave everything is always answered and I always see my baby clearly on the ultrasound screen and I get pictures to put in my baby book! I'm glad I didn't continue to be treated the way I was at this clinic there are still Doctors that care and make you feel like you and your baby are special. Don't settle! This is an exciting time! My husband and I welcomed our third baby into the world on this past Monday, 03.30.20! We had a wonderful experience at UK with UK Midwife Clinic's very own, JoAnne Burris, by our side. We received top notch care- nothing less than ever before. The nurses were amazing too, as always! We felt loved, supported, cared for, and above all- safe. In this uncertain time, we were so thankful for this beautiful birth experience. Trust your body. Trust your midwife. Try to relax, as they suggest. These women are here for you, same as ever before. It is just modified a little. We love UK midwife clinic. Thankful for all they are doing to comfort us during this time. We will miss our in person visit on Wednesday for our one week check in- but we are excited to visit via tele-health and can not wait to let the midwives and nurses all meet our new baby in person, once all this passes. January of this year I gave birth to my second sweet little via VBAC. For my first I had used…read morebaptist health Richmond and was left disrespected and traumatized from that birth. The midwives were a breath of fresh air! Friendly, and I met with all of them. I joined right when they made the transition to UK. The midwives believed in me that I could have a successful and healing VBAC and it was beautiful! So healing. Dee was the midwife who delivered my son and she was amazing support and very encouraging. The hospital OBs however (and don't let this scare you away from the midwives, this is strictly regarding UK hospital as you never see the OBs unless there and your midwife is not in the hospital), the attending OBs are pushy at UK and if I hadn't had my midwives to back me up, I would have likely ended up with a repeat csection. I went in for monitoring at 39 weeks and was tag teamed and treated like a walking accident by the two OBs who insisted I induce. Thankfully my midwife (Chrissie was on call) said nope and I went on to have spontaneous labor a week and a half later. I highly suggest the midwives as they will have your back and support you! The sweetest ladies you will ever meet! All very down to earth and they take time to know you. The nurses, receptionists, ultrasound tech and midwives are so nice and caring. I've only ever had to wait a long time twice, and it was only an hour and still it was worth it as they offer such personalized care. Also, I'd like to add, their ultrasound tech was so vigilant and caught my sons CHD and wanted us back for another ultrasound for our sake (after an echo) and to make sure all was well. She was so kind and thorough. Through the crazy woes of pregnancy, to the hardships and beauty of labor and delivery, they had my back and I felt like I could achieve my VBAC with no doubt. I did, and I am so thankful! Forever glad that I found them, and I will stay with them for any other care I need, not just for pregnancy. Highly recommend these midwives! I met with Melissa, Joann, Dee and Chrissie and all of them were so kind, they listened and never rushed me out. They always took time to make sure I was heard, respected and encouraged.

Dr Dicken is the friendliest person there but if you talk too much he'll excuse himself from the room "for just a moment" and then a nurse will come in and say you're all set and ready to go. They encourage you to use their text messaging system to rapidly and efficiently communicate with the front office staff, however, this evidently did not get through in time to indicate that I would be eight minutes late for my appointment, and they refuse to see me. I've never seen such a stringent late policy, combined with such poor communication. This resulted in wasting almost 40 minutes in back-and-forth traffic across town.
