Had an appt with my best friend. Had high hopes since most reviews were good. We each were looking to get fairly simple constellation tattoos. Showed him our ideas and waited over two hours just to see a first sketch, which wasn't that impressive. I asked for changes to the lettering and got an eye roll. And that wasn't the only eye roll. I just wasn't feeling the lettering and also asked if I could have the moon be a bit bigger. Rolled eyes again. So I asked if I was irritating him and he said I was "nit-picking" and "reaching"; and he "had a long day ahead". Seemed like he basically, just wanted to get us done with no concern for what we wanted. So, after three hours we left with no tattoos. Not to mention, shop and bathroom were dirty. I have been tattooed by both Nate and Brant and have zero complaints. Most recently Brant took my toddler-like scribble of Saturn and a crescent moon and turned it into a Milky Way with those symbols and some killer stars. It's an amazing, creative piece that I am beyond thankful for-- Brant also took the liberty of making the piece universal so that it could eventually be worked into a much larger piece (a full sleeve even). I am definitely going to be coming back to allow him the opportunity to take some elements and run with the idea because his talent speaks for itself. The shop is clean, there is literally a bunch of work all over the shop, and Brant posts his pieces to Facebook all the time. Brant also made sure to tell me that I may come back after my tattoo heals if there is any area that requires a touch-up or something I may want fixed up a bit-- true customer service. Additionally, my experience with Nate (maybe a year or so ago) was fantastic, and he too took the liberty of personalizing my tattoo to my tastes and fixed up a tattoo I had gotten previously. You can literally do no wrong with either artist, and I know that I have my two guys for any in-town pieces. Not to mention the fact that both Nate and Brant are very easy-going, make for good conversation, and are all about working within your budget (if you have one), and making sure you're satisfied. First time using this shop. Brant is very professional. I was impressed with the cleanliness of his shop. The other tattooists were equally friendly and professional. Brant corrected my existing faded tattoo as well as created a new one on my other ankle. I plan to return, but a lesson I quickly learned is don't get a tattoo in the summer as it definitely suppressed my fun in the sun using he swimming pool for a couple weeks. So next visit... I called on my way from Arcata(3 hours in advance) to make a last minute appointment with the owner of the shop to get something simple, he said if I made it there before closing he would do it. Well, he was an alright guy. A good father, from what I could tell because he made me feel guilty the whole time about not being home with his wife and kid to read her a story before bed. (I understand that, you wanted your child to be happy before she went to bed) I admire that, but I felt guilt tripped. And I paid you way more than the work you put in, PLUS the 20$ tip-and I'm definitely not expecting anything cheap when in comes to tattoos. I didn't complain. My tattoo was not what I asked for. It was so embarrassing I had it covered up at tattoo expo as soon as it was healed really well. I also got another tattoo along with it, and I plan on getting that one Removed. I loved your shop, and the man with the accent and all the workers were very nice. But I haven't been back in since this, because I feel like I got played for stupid&tripped off. The 3 stars are for the shop and because I don't want to negative review to affect your over all, but I definitely felt let down when my shit healed. If I could give zero stars, I would. I contacted the owner of this shop (who a friend recommended against, as he had butchered a tattoo on this friend, but I was desperately seeking ink) around noon and asked about a next day appointment. He said he could book me, and I asked if he had a portfolio I could check out before booking the appt. He seemed to get a little weird that I dare ask to see his work. When I arrived at the shop, he had a scowl on his face and was on his phone the entire time I looked at his portfolio. No, "Let me know if there's anything I can do to help, or answer any questions." Because I'm a little compulsive at times, I went ahead and booked the appointment for the following day, despite the fact that some of his portfolio looked like a 12 year old did it. His lettering looked ok, and that's what I wanted so I gave him a $60 deposit. Immediately after leaving his shop my adult-self kicked in and I regretted making the appointment. 90 minutes later I went back to the shop to see if I could get my $60 back, and he refused. I ended up telling him it was worth the $60 just to not ever let him put ink on my body. $60 life lesson, but it's still better than tattoos that I'll hate for the rest of my life.
