I had a close friend see Dr. Parker for 18 years and Dr. Parker was always amazing to him, I mean really super impressively amazing to him. So impressively amazing to my friend that I recommended Dr. Parker to friends looking for a rheumatologist despite never seeing him until recently. Fastforward a few years since this close friend moved and me getting blood work back indicating an autoimmune issue might be present. Very naturally I asked for a referral to Dr. Parker. I literally looked forward to interacting with Dr. Parker after hearing about him for so many years. The appointment was more like an integration as to why I had an appointment at all. Dr. Parker also said that he sees Dr. Volpe and that Dr. Volpe is great. I promise you Dr. Volpe is one of the worst doctors that I have ever encountered, period and this is after living on 4 continents in 5 countries and being to an additional 33 countries. Not sure if it is because I am a women, if it was because I am overweight, or if he was having a bad day, or if he had COVID and it has impacted his functioning, or all four, but I can no longer recommend Dr. Parker. I hope that the appointment was an aberration; and, if not, that this review reminds Dr. Parker of the doctor he once was and how he has truly helped people in the past.

He offers preventative care, and is quick to take measures to deal with burgeoning health issues. I appreciate that he is quick to admit it if he feels that something requires more specialized care. He has helped me through more than I can say. I was a practicing attorney, and due to severe chronic pain from fibromyalgia, he worked with me to come to the realization that I had to stop practicing and go on disability. He tirelessly helped me through the process to obtain disability by filling out and submitting numerous records and documents. Never one did he ask me to pay him to do any of it. I know that I can rely on his advice and recommendations, and trust him completely. He is attentive and never fails to inquire about anything going on in my life that impacts my health. I recommend him without reservation. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to share my only complaint. For the first 20+ years, Dr. Berent had a solo practice centrally located in Austin. I could call his office the first thing in the morning, and secure an appointment the same day if the need arose. His staff was professional and responded to issues quickly. If a referral, prescription refill or anything else was needed, it would be done efficiently and fast. He would spend as much time as necessary with each patient. He has been in practice for quite some time, and he decided to close his practice and join Baylor Scott & White up North off of N. Mopac. Since we live in Dripping Springs, and given Austin's horrendous traffic, it takes quite a while to reach the location. Although Dr. Berent still spends the necessary time to discuss how I am doing, he is no longer available five days a week. i totally understand that after decades, he wants to slow down, Nevertheless, there is no question that at BSW, it takes much longer to get anything done, from prescription refills, referrals, and documents for lab work. More than once, I've gone for lab work, doctor's appointments, or diagnostic tests to find that they had not received the proper paperwork. Granted, this is not Dr. Berent's responsibility, but it is a problem. Nonetheless, I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Berent. He is an excellent doctor, and I have always felt blessed to have him as my doctor.

They leave the phone off the hook so that no one can get through, I was on hold for 3+ hours until my phone died. Forget it if you have a UTI, first urine test no cultures were ordered, 2nd test I was prescribed 5 days of antibiotics for 3 different things that showed up, now they want a 3rd test in as many weeks. As much as I like the doctor himself I am not going to deal with office staff like this. I hope to hear his office staff is fired and I will go back at that point. It really is a shame because he is a good doctor and I enjoyed going to him. I am not sure who needs this info, but I was floored to find out just how egregious the care from this PA was. First UTI lab cultures, on average, per the CDC, give a false negative 33% of the time. Next a new culture should not be ordered for at a minimum of 3 days after the last dose of antibiotics and 7 days is the standard minimum recommendation. In other words any clinician ordering labs directly after a course of antibiotics is gas lighting every single person into believing they have some other issue, primarily pelvic floor issues and they recommend bathroom training schedules for pelvic floor issues, so hold your urine despite being told to drink absurd amounts of water so you are very actively making the situation worse and then clinicians wonder why there are resistant strains. "Healthcare professionals" are prescribing low doses that strengthen the resistance and then further increasing the resistance through gas lighting people to hold their pee for hours, I dumfounded beyond belief, just goes to show that you absolutely must do your own research. Is this some sort of bizarre and sick experiment on American women? I also have zero doubt that if this were primarily a male issue that this would not be going on.

Over the years my conditions have flummoxed and bamboozled many specialists before nailing down answers and therapies. Throughout the ups and downs, Dr. Lewis has been a rock solid, effective, thoughtful, and calm partner in my search for answers. He communicates well with me as well as the other doctors and medical specialists that hammer away at my fairly dilapidated body. Dr. Lewis is like an anchor in the storm of craziness that is my health history. As is probably obvious, I like that guy and highly recommend him.

Well, a few days before my visit I called the office to confirm my appointment and the staff member tells me your appointment is scheduled for April 2023. Who schedules their annual physical a year in advance? When I told the staff the scheduler obviously made a mistake they were able to fit me in for the following week due to a cancellation. Of course, I decided to confirm my appointment a day in advance, especially after my last incident, at which point the staff mentions that Dr Howerton is out of town and that I would be seen by the nurse practitioner instead. I was relieved that despite yet another oversight by this medical office that my health care needs were finally addressed. Fast forward to today, I had a virtual visit scheduled at 7:45 AM with Dr Howerton due to some recent health concerns. The online reminder email told me to sign in 15 minutes prior so I did as suggested. Promptly at 7:45 AM I logged into the tele-health call and waited until 8:00 AM and Dr. Lena Howerton was a no-show. Obviously this institution and its staff has no regard for their patients' time or well-being for that matter.

They collect your payment upfront so that once you see the doctor you are free to go. Dr. Gage always comes in like he has all the time in the world. He reviews your cardiac system and open to the discussion for any potential issues that may be occurring. He does a comprehensive review of all medications and answers any questions. As busy as they are you wouldn't think that the atmosphere would be so relaxed, but it is! This time there was a discussion that ensued related to the cardiac stress test that Tom is due for per the American heart Association guidelines. When Dr. Gage found out that times negativity was related to the physical portion of the stress test he advised there is also a chemical stress test that can be taken. I was glad that he brought This option up as I think Tom will be able to see his way clear to having that. The med techs there are also spot on. The hubby has to get an EKG every six months that correlates with his follow up and the med techs there are very able and proficient. Probably sounds kind of funny to take a treat to the cardiology office but Tom has always drop Dan with round rock donuts for them and I suspect he will do that again this holiday season since I am not planning on baking this year.
