This place is amazing and my family shop here all the time. This past weekend my wife brings in her friend to purchase some items. This friend husband just passed away a few weeks back. They went in and asked for megial but he was on a break. One of the employees said I will help you. They asked to see makeup she said I cannot help you my fingernails are to long. So my wife had to apply the makeup. Who is managing this store. Who hires someone in the service industry that will not service customers. They both left there feeling like they were a bother and should of not ask for help. read more

My coupons "never seem to qualify" so I gave up even attempting to save $3.50, well this time I have a 20% yeahhhhh!!!! My items qualify, it's not expired.. but doesn't scan. The employee I spoke to said they double checked the inventory physically when I told them I'd be driving far. Got to store to be told they haven't had any in stock since 1:30pm. Customer service today was so bad. No one asked me if I needed help and the cashier I checked out with didn't say a word to me besides asking for my phone #, she didn't make any eye contact either. At the end of the transaction she just pushed my bag to the side and started wiping down her counter without a SINGLE word. I've came to this Ulta for years and I can say they have amazing cashiers. One that made my visit memorable is Justin. He gave me such amazing service and even took the time to explain the rewards program to me. He definitely knows what great customer service is. Such a welcoming attitude and an amazing personality. I was so annoyed I walked out without buying anything. Everything I needed they were out of. Everything was all switched around so certain brands were barely there or moved. I understand Arizona isn't very diverse. Upon seeing a African American individual doesn't mean they're up to no good. Upon entering the store I was greeted. I took a couple steps to the perfume department. I was constantly watched. Upon smelling around all of a sudden security was at the door. He asked me multiple times if I needed help. I approached the opposite stand of the perfume stand here comes yet another asking if I need help. I was watched the whole time!! I go over to fenty foundation I seeing security on his radio. I was uncomfortable I switched departments again, on my way over yet another person asking if I needed help. I'm in another aisle and suddenly someone comes "placing a sign". Immediately headed to checkout after being watched/stalked. Normally I wouldn't have made a purchase because this behavior is unacceptable, but I didn't want to look suspicious or fit what they "thought" I was up to! read more

My boyfriend and I come here too often (just became a platinum member) and usually look for the girl with green hair who is always super sweet. Yesterday my boyfriend came to buy me an eyebrow stick and came home raving about Miguel who was knowledgeable and insanely helpful. We came by today to buy some mascara and we were excited to see Miguel again! He gave us a few great options and after finding out I worked outside was able to guide me to an amazing waterproof mascara and ended up upselling us with a hydration Clinique moisturizer and eyelash curler. We also saw him helping another Spanish speaking guest and was very attentive to them. We love seeing the great customer service. read more

I thought it was just me, but from the looks of the reviews it's not. The staff here is rude for the most part. I cannot speak for everyone, but every time I come here, I don't get any assistance and when I try, it seems like I'm interrupting their gossip session or a text message ( I say text message because this girl was reading her text while she was at her station) and seemed annoyed when I had a question and was very unhelpful. And today I come in to return a product and I'm the only one at the front cashier station waiting for these two ulta representatives to stop talking to each other about something!?!? I felt like I was the one being rude for breaking up their little sewing circle. They finally look at me and ask if I needed something. I say is this were I can return something, and the girl says this is the only place you can return something in a snotty tone while the other girl snickers and walk away. Besides the rude employees, the place is kinda dirty and messy, the isles are very narrow and I prefer MAC and Sephora to this place. I only come here because it's closest to my home. read more

I had to actually calm down for a few days before I wrote this. I decided to take advantage of the free blow out deal they were doing before the Yelp Ten Chimneys event. BIG mistake, I left looking worse then when I went in! In the process of washing my hair, my head was bounced against the shampoo bowl repeatedly, I was then repeatedly hit in the head with both the blow dryer and the brush. I've never in my whole life of getting my hair done, been hit so many times collectively! I left with such a headache, plus had to come home and totally re-wash and blow dry my hair! This women spent the entire time trying to sell me on a hair cut, and since she couldn't control a blow dryer I'm certainly not allowing her to have scissors near my head. I'll stick with my current stylist, and stay clear of the salon portion of this Ulta. Especially since this women wants to charge me more then my stylist does at an upscale salon in Old Town Scottsdale! I also noticed this visit that most of the staff, salon as well as store staff spent most of the hourish I was there between shopping and my appointment chatting with each other. The polish choices over in the salon polish displays (OPI, China Glaze, Essy) were almost totally out of stock and this seemed strange for a Thursday. I may run to this location in the future for a necessity when I don't have time to get to another location, but I'll avoid it if possible. read more

Booked a eyebrow appointment the morning of and was excited to get them done. Came in and they looked at me like I was at the wrong location. I proceeded to show them the text of confirmation and the wax women being Vanessa B. They stated that she called in earlier and didn't even have the decency to text me a cancellation text. Most times you can find any type of product here. The last two times I have come to this store they have been out of several products I needed. I have never had any of the employees be helpful or nice. They are always off gossiping together and when you actually go to ask them a question they walk in the opposite direction. Whenever I come to this location and ask about an item, the employees are rude. Today, I looked online and saw this location had the Cotz Face Natural-Tinted sunscreen in stores. I double checked and it showed that they did. I went in store and saw that they only offered it as a sample, which was weird so I took a picture of the Cotz brand that was on the shelf and asked an employee if they still had any samples left, she said no. So then I asked if any new shipment would come in with the full size of the Cotz Face Natural- Tinted sunscreen and she automatically said that they don't sell samples. One, I didn't ask to buy the sample and two I asked if they had shipment coming in for the full size of the natural tint. I had to state so many times that I'm not trying to buy any samples; it made my head hurt talking to her. She then said that they don't sell the Cotz brand at Ulta, which was funny because I just came from the aisle where they sold it. How do you think I got the picture? How could you not sell the brand here, but know right away that there was no more of the sample? Laziness at it's finest. I told her, "Yeah you do, I literally just came from the aisle where Cotz brand is sold, that's why I took a picture to show you," and all she said was "I don't know." Man some people are dense. You come in asking if there will be shipment for a full size product and leave with them thinking you want to buy a sample. Like I said before, the employees here are rude, incompetent, and lazy. Went in at 5:00 to pick up a few things and grabbed the last peter thomas Roth kit for the holidays. Well, we had a movie reservation at 5:45 and the line was long so I asked the guy, dark curly hair with blonde tips, to put it on hold for me and that I would be back right after the movie. He said ok, asked my name etc. and I was on my way. Well I just left the store and my hold is no where to be found. When one of the other associates asked him where my hold was he said, "I don't remember names." Obviously he either didn't think I'd come back and put it back on the floor, or was careless and threw it on the counter and another associate put it back since he did not follow the appropriate item hold procedure. There are so many yelp reviews about poor customer service and they are so true. I'm done with this Ulta. If you're looking for a location with solid customer service, I've never had an issue with the one on 99th and Northern. read more

My sister-in-law and I spent hours here the other day. We didn't even realize we had been in there for so long! Sure, you stick me in an Ulta or a Sephora, and I can easily entertain myself exploring new products and brands. BUT The staff here was the most sincere and friendly staff I have found at any beauty supply business. Yeah, they all greet you and point you in the general direction and smile and even point out a product or two, but then they skidaddle. Not the case here. We were looking for some specific products. The staff here found solutions for us. I don't think you understand how much time I took with the staff, and they were so helpful. Even with other customers waiting, they very smoothly handled all of us and left us all happy. One lady in particular didn't just show me a couple products to try. She explained each item and even discussed pros and cons of each item. Then, she even recommended I go with a cheaper solution before going to the more expensive solution. Thank you for not selling me some expensive product and for listening to my sob story about the trauma my skin is facing because of a move away from the moisture in San Francisco to the incredibly dry heat in the desert. I am at this Ulta at least once every couple of months, whether it is buying some product or getting my hair cut/colored by Jenni in the salon. I've never had a bad experience and all of the staff have been friendly and helpful. Sometimes I have to ask for help (they don't always come up to you and ask if you need anything) but I don't think that's a huge deal. Corporate needs to fix this store. This is the worst place I've ever been to. The employees are so rude here, they never ask if you need help with anything. Even when you buy things at the counter, they act rude. All my experiences have never been above a one star. I'm never coming back to this place they are so rude. They're just concerned with gossiping with each other at the counter, in the fragrance department, and where the makeup is at. There's always clusters of employees talking to each other and never helping customers. Returns are the worst. They give you an extended amount of time to return things especially with the receipt or your beauty number and they act all sour that you returned it. That's the policy of the store so why are the employees so mad? They act like I'm deliberately doing something to them. As I was waiting outside I saw that the cashier Joanna had the audacity to throw a receipt in my sister's face after she returned things that weren't ever used. That's completely uncalled for and unacceptable. Then she went to return the rest of the stuff she bought previously, because why give money to a business like this, the manager was so Not empathetic toward the whole situation. In front of the manager Joanna said " this is the one I told you about." As the manager was giving the refund to my sister Joanna was laying her head on his shoulder and hugging up on him like a weirdo. They should be grateful they even have a job. They are all miserable and rude. Don't waste your time coming here. There are plenty of other stores and avenues to get make up. read more

I honestly wish the employees, (men and women), at this location were as customer-oriented and friendly as the Ulta employees in the east valley. I specifically commend the employees & their customer service at the Tempe Marketplace and Chandler locations. There is a drastic difference between going to an Ulta in Tempe and Chandler, for instance, compared to this one. In the east valley locations, all of the customers are genuinely welcomed and greeted once you enter the store, and all associates make eye contact and smile with you. None of these behaviors are demonstrated at the Goodyear store. Each time I walk in here, I am never greeted, and I notice the employees do not show their appreciation to the customers. I truly want to avoid going to this location because of the lack of service and friendliness here. Most importantly, I do not feel valued at all as a customer here. I went in needing to be color matched for some concealer. It was difficult finding someone to help, but once I did, another employee chimed in and said she was a "tarte representative" and could do it for me instead. I thought great! I was super excited, but this representative was interrupted by another woman with questions and proceeded to ignore me completely while she helped someone else. It was extremely rude - she just turned her back to me and acted like I wasn't as important as this other person who'd come up to her. I waited for a good few minutes, feeling awkward and unsure if she was still gonna help me or not. She eventually turned back to me, shoddily applied some concealer, and then sent me on my way. This was a super uncomfortable experience, and the woman definitely needed a mint as she worked closely to my face. ( i wanted to gag ) It just is disappointing because I felt like no one took me seriously and the employees I did interact with were super condescending. The cashier was nice, but I will not be coming back. It was an incredibly negative experience. Please think of your customers as people and treat them kindly, Ulta. read more

I lived in surprise for 10 years and that was my store. I had no issues with it, it was calm and relaxing This is my first time going to another one besides the arrowhead a couple times. Wow It was like black Friday on a Wednesday afternoon before dinner time. It was insane. I felt like there was nobody to help me and when they did they were so quick in and out and did not really have time to dedicate to me they were too busy talking and looking at other people. Having extreme anxiety and panic attacks I don't think I'll be going back. I think I will drive out to surprise or even Glendale. Or even just shop online. I don't feel comfortable going into a store that is so crazy busy it's insane. I mean come on it's Wednesday at 4:30 and it looks like Christmas!!!! Not for me and I won't be back sadly cuz I love ulta :( Plus when I shop for make up I like undivided attention for me. Today I decided I wanted to try out some false eyelashes for fun. I went in and explained what I was looking for. I definitely picked the right place because not only did they help me find what I was looking for but I was able to have them applied as well. This was a great service for me since I don't know the first thing about wearing them. I also found out that not only do they do lashes but also eyebrow waxing and tinting too! Fun! Horrible Customer Service from Store Manager (Brian Grito) don't understand why he's even in that type of position! Store was a Mess, seriously I've never seen sooo many opened products in my life, let alone NOTHING was in the right spot. Went there to buy Mario Budesco product because it's pretty much only sold in stores at Ulta. Went into the Korean beauty section which is a huuuge plus they had and it was great because it seemed like all of their face masks on sale! Nope went to the check out counter advised me it wasn't, I asked if they could honor it because of how disorganized everything was that it clearly wasn't just customer error but employee error as well. They seemed hesitant and called the store manager Brian. A bit heavy set white skinned balding fellow. Met him in the aisle to explain my concern and confusion about placement of product. FROM THE START He was very condescending and passive aggressive. Told me multiple times that, that product wasn't what was on the tag, I continued and pointed to where I found it with the same products still there, he then took all of them and started organizing the whole sections. I said well since it's obviously not an employee error would he continue to honor it because there were 7 nicely stacked products in the area. So I assumed an employee did that because why would a consumer do that? Logic. Nope then I continued to ask why he wouldn't and shut down the conversation. Continued to say "we are not having this conversation is there anything else I can do" I continued to say well I'm waiting for the clearance product that you said you were looking for." He continued and I continued to ask why he was being rude, and at that point he raised his tone a bit and said "do you want to be kicked out mam' I WILL KICK YOU OUT" at that point I couldn't understand why first off would he resort to that? When I did nothing wrong let alone raise any of my voice and then two why he couldn't answer simple costumer questions. More of this back and forth conversation happened. Threatened to kick me out three times, belittled me about how he wouldn't honor it. (Dollar and some change difference.) and that consumers are at fault for ALL of the mess in the store. First off, why run a store or have employees if it doesn't matter where products should go. One of my questions, he said " they have other things to do then follow containers mess up the store." I said well at least make it look like you care about the way it looks. He then proceeded to threaten to kick me out again. At this point I was so appalled at the costumer service he obviously didn't have, I gave us and just asked for his name and job title. There truly was sooo much that happened but it would be too long to say on he NEVER EVER GOING TO THIS STORE EVER AGAIN. *will update when the district manager contacts me about my formal complaint. Hopefully she or he has excellent costumer service. UPDATE: District manager was named Carrie and she was very apologetic, very professional and informative. She called and explained that his behavior was unacceptable despite reasons. She reviewed tapes and what not. She apologized and informed me of why things happened BUT said still was not excused and made me feel a bit better, I'll never return that this ulta ever again but might go to another in the future, she offered a small incentive for my horrible ordeal and wanted me to continue to. Shop and try ulta again. Great phone call. Will never return to this one though. read more
