I'm kind of unhappy with some of the unprofessional actions of one of the staff here. I had been here a few times for a regular men's short hair cut. The haircut offerings say a shampoo and cut. I don't need a shampoo, so would appreciate a more affordable cut. So, I don't want to shame anyone, so I will simply say the lady that seems in charge did several things that just didn't seem right. First, I had a free haircut card that is stamped with every haircut. There was another stylist's name on it, so she rolled them over to another card with her name on it. Okay, fine. The next time I scheduled, I requested her. Upon arrival, I found that she was getting her hair cut by another stylist during my scheduled time. How rude! I was then assigned a brand new stylist who at least could have used some direction from my scheduled stylist that was getting her hair cut. I was not happy with being stood up for a scheduled appointment. Last, your POS machines default to a minimum of a 30% tip. That is kind of surprising if your not expecting it. In the end, it's a $40.00 visit for a simple men's haircut. I tried Fantastic Sam's because they were convenient, but there are some things that are more important. I'm so disappointed and angry. NEVER coming here again. I came on a Thursday and the lady who took me asked me if I wanted any layers, I kindly told her no that I wanted it cut straight across. When I got home and my hair was dry, I noticed my hair was uneven in the front; so I called and scheduled an appointment the next day and this kind lady took her time with my hair to try and fix it, she told me she didn't want to cut anymore on one side because I would have to go even shorter. So I said ok and we finished up and I took a look in a mirror and it looked fine. Until later that day, I looked in the mirror at home and noticed it was EVEN MORE MESSED UP. $30 for a haircut that was all messed up; TWICE. read more

My husband was in need of a hair cut really bad. He had been letting his hair grow for a while. We finally decided on a style and before we headed out to meet friends tonight, he needed to get the style done. But of course, since we waited till the last minute, every salon I would normally go to, was fully booked. We had to find a place quick. While having breakfast next door, we realized there was this salon, and we just prayed they took walk ins and also able to take care of the style we wanted. A couple of people were waiting, but thankfully Drew was at the counter just as we walked in. She's a younger stylist so we quickly asked if she could take us. She had two clients before us but we didn't mind waiting. It went by fast. She called us back. We showed her a pic of the style. She went over the options as we'll repeating what we wanted. Although they have some great stylist, this place has gotten ridiculous. We used to be able to get a haircut with a coupon for $7.99. Now they use a system that is going to charge you to use a credit card and then ask you for a 30 to 40 or 50% tip. Prices are not posted. It makes checking out very uncomfortable. read more

I was 15 minutes late and they didn't want to see me for the 2:30 appointment so I totally understand that they decided to not make money off of me even if I was already there. Anyways, I had a 3pm appointment as well so we were very on time for that one, hell we waited in the lobby since 2:45pm and they decided to make us wait for our 3pm appointment and took my other daughter at 3:16. I just feel like while the stylists have a client they expect us to wait however long it takes them to finish even if the next client is already on time but if you're late and they have nothing to do but wait for you then they get revengeful and decide that you're not a worthy client. At least I showed up and didn't leave them with a no show no call and they could've tried to cut my little ones hair it was a simple straight trim anyways, if you're professional it should be a piece of cake. But in my opinion this salon had an okay review in Google and it was my LAST resort because my go to stylist was completely booked and my daughters decided they wanted a haircut last minute so hope this helps. Jes is an amazing colorist. I started seeing her at a different location and was heart broken when I found out she was transferring. I was so happy with her work, I decided to follow her to her new salon and I am so glad I did! Its been 10 years since I've been this comfortable with my color. She has several certifications and truly listens to her clients before starting a process. She is also very up front about expected results, time and cost which is so important when the style you're looking for might take 2 or 3 stages. I highly reccomend her to both new-to-color and experienced clients. I especially reccomend her for color corrections which is how we originally started working together. When the stylist asked asked me how my holidays were, I informed her that my mother passed away 2 day before Christmas and I had to have my dog euthanized 6 days later. The stylist started laughing. Had a wash and blow dry and they charged me $42 plus $7 tip. No haircuts or anything else. The most expensive wash and dry I've ever had. When I asked them about it I was told it was "styling" and the charge is for long hair. My hair above my elbow length. All they did was using a brush to smooth my hair while being blown dry. I will not be back as I feel very ripped off! read more

I used to go to this salon every few months but will now be following a hairstylist that was fired from this store. There is a new owner/manager that does not know how to cut hair. I was embarrassed to say anything and got it fixed elsewhere. No stylist understood what kind of technique Jess used on mine and my family members hair. Everyone who was good at this store has left or quit so they have lost me and many others as a costumer. We showed them a picture of a girl with medium length hair and short layers and got something completely different! When straightening my hair piece by piece I recognized all the different lengths inch by inch. It wasn't just a few centimeters but INCHES of difference all in an inch chuck for straightening. She also walked away twice in the middle of doing my hair. It was so embarrassing. I've had beauty school students cut my hair better than this. After we reviewed they blocked us and deleted our review. Dishonest and does not take criticism well. read more

Wow, very disappointed. I am new to the area and managed to find the shopping center where they were located, but could not find their shop. I called and I was definitely bothering the woman who answered. I asked where they were located and the woman called me "hon" and told me the crossroads. I told her I was there, but did not see the shop and asked for more details. She sighed and then told me they were on the NE corner. Being directionally challenged and new to the area, I had no way to tell which was the NE corner. I told her that didn't help at all. No response. I don't like this place I went the first time to check it out, just moved out here to Arizona. And the atmosphere is just terrible. You walk in and they sit you down and don't talk or interact with you at all. Staff made me feel like crap about hair . The manager said she couldn't take the risk of bleaching my hair because it was too brittle but honestly just felt like she didn't feel like doing it . My wife and daughter really like the friendly ladies who work here. The only complaint I might have is that they aren't one of the thousands of salons that offer free blunt cuts for Locks of Love donations. I'm not sure why any franchise owner would elect NOT to participate in a program like this (considering they could still charge a little extra for a "cut and style"). I can only guess that the owner has never had any friends or relatives who have lost their hair to a medical condition or chemo. There are plenty of salons in the area who will do the free cuts for Locks of Love donors, though, so don't let this one owner discourage you from calling around. read more

My daughter and I got our hair cut by Jes and she ruined both of our hair. I was too embarrassed go back to have them fix it because I found out she was the manager and now the new owner. I had to have someone else fix my hair. If Jes does your hair check it twice before leaving for uneven choppy cuts. What an interesting haircut. The young stylist (Brieanna) asked if I wanted a shampoo and I said no, since my hair was already washed. Then rather than asking "what are we doing today?" she asked "how short do you want it?" I thought that was odd. I showed her a picture of how I've gotten it cut the last couple times. She asked if I just wanted her to wet it (with the spray bottle). Yes, that's generally what you do when you cut hair!? She was the most hesitant/cautious stylist I have ever seen and would cut a little and ask if I wanted it shorter. This went on throughout the haircut. Just make it look like the picture! It made me a little anxious. After she was done, she asked if I wanted a shampoo. No, why would I want one now if I didn't at the beginning? Then she asked if there was anything else she could do. How about a little blow dry so I can actually see how my haircut looks? Since when is that a special request? In the end, my hair looks pretty much the way I wanted, but I have to say I've felt I was in better hands at Great Clips. read more

They are consistently respectful of your time, and they listen to find out what you want. I've taken my daughter here consistently and the thing I like is I can relax knowing they are going to give my daughter what she wants with no pressure to do what they want. No hidden agenda and no need to stand over them to keep them from being cut happy. (not every one wants a bob cut) one of the few places I trust with my daughters hair. I went in there because I really needed a hair cut for school pictures the next day. The girl that checked me in didn't know how to work the computer, or the credit card machine. When I mentioned a defuser for my bleached blonde she was confused about what I was talking about!!! When she cut my long blonde hair she wet it down and then took half an inch off and re-layered it. I paid and left with it wet which was odd to me. I went grocery shopping and when I got home it was dry and my hair looked like a hack job! It was not blended and it looked like a kid at cut it. It wasn't even and you could see the obvious layers and cutting lines!!! I was pissed. I went back in to get it fixed the next day and thank God Rachel was there and she styled and fixed it. She had to take off another half inch of my hair so that it would blend, that's how bad it was cut the night before by the other girl. It took her over an hour to fix it. While I was there I watched a lady with purple hair cut three other people's hair, she washed their hair and cut it wet and didn't even dry it!! I'm sure their hair didn't turn out! Rachel gave me a business card and her number and she is the only one I will let touch my hair. I plan on going back to have her touch up my ombré soon as well. Ladies with long thick hair beware!!! This location is so much better then the Glendale one! For some reason I paid $5.00 less here then at the other location. The salon is clean and the stylists are pretty professional. I have very long hair. In the past, I have given other Fantastic Sam's locations scathing reviews after having my hair butchered by over zealous stylists. The girl I saw at this location was awesome. She cut off just the right amount and was even able to blend the choppy ends that the last stylist (at the Glendale location) massacred. I will definitely be back to see her again! read more

Brieanna is by far the best stylist I have ever had and believe me I have experienced many. She gets my color right every time. In my opinion, the true test of a good stylist is that when you leave you are happy with our hair, you don't have to "redo" it to make it look right! The bonus is that others compliment you and want to know who does your hair. I have had the pleasure of referring Brieanna to friends and strangers that have asked and will continue to do so. She is so sweet and professional and great with kids. I have taken my grandson who is 9 to see her and Aidan doesn't want anyone else to do his hair but her now!
