My daughter and I just left this store because we were being followed around the perfume section, like we were stealing something. We were simple smelling perfumes and turned around and this lady with bad lipstick on was quite literally on my back. we were so uncomfortable because she already asked us twice if we needed anything and we said no. I have made a few stops into this Ulta location, and I feel now that I can give it a proper review. The store itself is gorgeous. Beautiful, easy to navigate, and just overall very pleasing to the eye. The inside and outside is always very clean and tidy. The staff, at least the employees working during my visits, are ok. They may greet you, or may not. They may be helpful, and they may not. It's really just hit or miss depending who is working. Ulta carries a wide variety of beauty products, and it is heaven for someone like myself who loves all this beauty! They carry both higher end brands, drug store brands and their own Ulta brands. I am a member of their rewards program, so I'm often sent a coupon to use to save a little money, but you can always find a decent deal in store as well. I do recommend signing up for their rewards program, you get some lovely perks throughout the year. Overall this is a nice location to visit if you are in the area. read more

So I think the store itself deserves 5 stars. Employees are extremely welcoming and helpful when needed. I always enjoy coming in and testing out new makeup before I make any final purchases. The things that irks me, and it's not the store's fault at all, but many employees were saddened about, was the recall of Benefit Cosmetics "Gimme Brow!" Which was apart of the brow wardrobe attached below. Since that was recalled, the whole brow bundle had to be taken off shelves, meaning I couldn't purchase this amazing deal! The employees handled this incident extremely well, as many customers came in questioning the disappearance of this product as well. I am forever sadden about the bundle, but everything else at the store is very well put together. Also I'm very excited about the two MAC Lipsticks that are available at this store! Velvet Teddy looks wonderful on fair tones. I 100% recommend shopping here for makeup as much as you can! read more

I went shopping to pick up a few items and was surprised at the conversation going on between, whom I assume were the managers. They were discussing a conference call with their district manager and issues they were having at the store not to mention personal information customers do not want to hear. I was greeted when I came in, but not once in the 20-30 minutes that I was there did anyone ask if I needed help or to see if I was finding everything ok. I did not feel comfortable asking for help after hearing the conversation that was happening on the sales floor. The only thing they were managing this day was poor customer service. read more

I frequent Ulta Beauty in Rochester since its opening and the majority of the time are not impressed with their service. On one visit I paid $60 for a make up session where I wanted to learn how to apply makeup. Most of the girls working at Ulta seem very young and inexperienced. Not only did she do a terrible job with applying the make up, she acted like it was a real inconvenience doing it . We were interrupted several times and when I asked questions she seemed put out. She also made rude comments to another girl working there that were about me when I was finished! She didn't think I could hear her. She was so unprofessional! Other times I have gone there, they were fine, but this visit was over the top BAD. I will never pay for any services there again. I will continue to go there to buy make up. read more

I don't understand the bad reviews, everyone here is great and very helpful. I go to Katherine to get my eyebrows waxed & tinted and she does an amazing job every time, I won't go to anyone else. Corey, who is a manager I believe, is always so helpful and sweet if you ever need anything. They are great with returns & are always willing to give suggestions. Probably one of the best staff at any of the Ulta's I've been to. Give them a try yourself & make up your own mind. The reviews seem to be from a select few bad experiences possibly with different management. Love that this place is just down the street! read more

I made appointments at this location for my daughter and her best friend to get their hair and makeup done for their semi-formal. When we got there they told us that we didn't have appointments, which I proved that we did and then told us our appointments were made for another location but they would "take care of us ". Well they didn't, we didn't leave there till almost 6 when we told them we needed to leave by 5,our appointments were at 3:30. They were the most unprofessional people I have ever met. They totally botched the girls makeup and they had to go home and do it over again because it was so badly done. The lady doing there hair didn't even know how to do a simple French braid. It cost us over 200$ for something we could of done better our selves. This was supposed to be a memorable experience for the girls and turned out to be a nightmare. Never again. read more

Cashiers and associates at the front of the store were very helpful and friendly. Had no trouble finding products, great selection. However, I noticed several "managers" whispering about what I inferred what another manager. This is incredibly unprofessional and many people noticed. Something should be done, this not only reflects poorly on the store and its staff but also could be interpreted as bullying. read more

This Ulta; store wise is super nice! Clean, many selections, etc. BUT me and my friend went in there last week and the employees working there were like HAWKS. They seemed to have nothing better to do but literally follow us around the entire store. From NYX, to Too Faced, Urban Decay and Stilla cosmetics. Every area of the store we went to they were 3 feet behind us. Like I know it's probably part of store policy to keep an eye on customers who you think may steal- I've worked in retail, I understand. But they weren't subtle AT ALL and I ended up not buying anything because their eyes were burning holes in my back. There was so much pressure and just negative/judgy suffocating air around us. I don't even want to go back there, I'll take my business back to the Newington location! read more

I'm a frequent shopper at ulta as I'm very into makeup and all things beauty. Majority of the girls working here are update with the trends in beauty and products which I appreciate because I can come in and have a conversation about what products work for them and take their recommendations. I came in after the holidays so like most stores are running sales , lots of clearance items ! Great ! Who doesn't love a sale right? Let me say why I'm giving this location 2 stars , the manager " Brenda" is very unprofessional , I've worked I retail long enough to notice good and bad customer service . False advertisement is illegal , it's misleading. There was an end cap with a bunch of items with RED ticket prices that have been marked down from original pieces .. now here's my problem . The sign on that end cap clearly states " Don't wait Take an ADDITIONAL 50% RED CLEARANCE TICKET ITEMS " CLEARLY it would be an extra 50% off the item that was RED ticketed at 9.99 ? Right ? well according to "BRENDA" that's not how the sale works for her . She stated it's already marked down from the original price so the red ticket is already 50% off . Okay? But that isn't what your sign says . The cashier helping me agreed with me , her name was Katrina & that the sign is clear but if you'll disagree and tell the customer I'm wrong .. that's misleading , unprofessional . The way Brenda went about it wasn't giving me customer satisfaction. No one seemed to care besides the lovely girl Katrina at the register who also claims she's worked in retail for over 7 years. I live in Rochester but after the interaction with the very un professional "managers" I'll take the commute to visit the location in newington/Portsmouth and deal with the managers who are nicer and professional there.
