This is a LONG review, but very detailed. Sit back & grab a cup of coffee....here we go.... So after hurricane Helene, my step daughter called me about hearing a light hissing sound near the second/spare bathroom. She lives in one of our rental homes in NC & since Helene destroyed major roadways in TN & NC, our trip would be over 4.5+ hours one way, so we called Ultimate Plumbing. Ultimate mistake!!! 175.00 service call, no problem as that goes towards the bill. Knew it was a simple fix, couldn't be more than 300.00, maybe 350.00. Saves me 9 hours of driving, well worth it. Come on, it's CPVC...parts are cheap, easy to replace, fast repair...house had a decent size crawl space. water wasn't pouring out from under the house...wasn't that bad of a leak then. Tech was there, smelled of weed (per my family there), & they called me to so the tech could speak with me. I will say he was a polite kid. He said "went from side to side under the house & didn't find any leaks" but ONLY heard it when my step daughter pointed it out. Permission was given by me to cut the insulation near the bathroom the leak was suspected. Not even 5 minutes later my wife got a text with a $1200.00 estimate to repair that & a toilet fill valve (12.00 part, 10 minutes tops). No way he got back under, opened up the insulation of the trailer & got back to his company with estimated parts/time. Being retired GC & have BUILT/Rebuilt some homes in my time, as well as an owner of multiple houses in Hickory NC, and TN...we declined the estimate knowing we were being gouged. October 8th, 2024 was the day of estimate for reference. Got up at 6AM, Drove out there to inspect & repair on the 9th. Got to the house, went under to see that NOTHING was disturbed under the house. Black plastic ground barrier material was undisturbed (covered in dirt), cobwebs everywhere, totally undisturbed. I've learned...TAKE PICTURES & VIDEO. so i did....fighting the charge now, with evidence in hand. Crawled under, clearing cobwebs, and a mummified rat carcass and saw the sagging insulation liner that was noticeably DRIPPING, in the far back corner, unable to seen from access door as it was behind the cinder block supports. Mind you, i am 51, 6'1" and 260lbs and got under this "hard to get into" area they put in the estimate, without issue. Yes, it was dirty under there. its a double wide ON dirt. Again, estimate even stated they didn't cut the liner, so they couldn't see the actual piece(s) that was leaking, & they didn't disturb the "very dirty" plastic lining on the ground. So they even unknowingly ADMITTED they didn't go under or know the parts needed to repair. How do you estimate repairs if you didn't actually SEE the pipes? Go to Home Depot, got some fittings. Under 60.00 for everything possibly needed with extra couplings, 90s & even SharkBite fittings, just incase. had a few 10' sticks of 1/2" CPVC line & glue there from sink feed repairs in the master bathroom in January. I knew how basic and easy these repairs are. Damage: 1 Cracked Tee fitting. $1.05 at Home Depot. Used my multi tool, cut the lines at the Tee and had it glued within 15 minutes (see picture of the Tee removed) with a short extension & coupling used for the lost section of pipe inside the original Tee. Called Mary Jane (i know, right?) at the company, asked what i paid for since the tech never went under the house to actually see it was a simple $1.05 part & easy fast repair. He could have sat in driveway w/ same results, but come up with a $1200.00 estimate..(knowing we were about 9-10 hours (round trip) away because we had mentioned the bridges & roads to Hickory were destroyed through Asheville and TN RT26). she said that she had to call her tech to find out information. As i was asking if she could call us back at...CLICK....she just hung up on me?? never even said goodbye. Never called back either. Customer service?? My credit card company will be receiving the videos, resending digital pictures & copy of my Home Depot receipt (all via email this time) showing the cost of the parts bought to fix & dated the next day while the state was recovering from a natural disaster. Pictures tell a thousand words. no one was under there in a long time. This is about principal of good business practices, calling out companies that are paid to do a service call & actually have to do what they were paid to do. If the tech went under, found the leak & DID do what they claimed, that i would be ok with paying for the service call. If the estimate was anywhere near sane and reasonable, i would have had them do the work to save the drive. Instead, they didnt get any work, a long truthful review, possibly lost more revenue & should lose the credit card dispute. I had a water heater located I'm you attic that burst and flooded my attic, second and first floors. I was given the name of Ultimate Plumbing for the install of a new water heater. We discussed and I agreed on a tankless unit. I have learned by speaking with three other contractors and the gas company, after the fact, that Ultimate Plumbing way over charged me. They charged me $8000 for a job that I am being told should have only been $2500 at the most. My gas has now had to be shut off because there are leaks in the lines installed by Ultimate and they are not going to send anyone one out to fix issues for 5 days which leaves me without hot water or a means to cook. They also never had the final inspection completed which would not have passed with the gas leaks or the fact that the unit is still running on a extention cord that runs in through my front porch to my foyer. It has been over 6 months since the install. The permit that was pulled by them states that the unit will run on a outlet that they installed, but the outlet is not connected to anything. The permit shows that it was closed without completion. They say that I need to find and pay for an electrician, but I am being told that for the price that they charged me, they should take care of this. I don't even think I would rate them 1 star. We had them come out for a heating problem and didn't receive a response. I followed up the next day and was told we had to replace the unit. Absolutely no diagnosis. The estimate was outrageous after doing my own research on the cost of the unit. My husband went out there after many cancellations from other vendors and was able to fix it himself. Only had to clean the pilot sensor. We contacted Ultimate Plumbing because the water from our washer was backing up and causing water to leak through the ceiling to the room below. They did send someone the next day, so that was quick. He checked out the washer and put a snake down the drain to unclog it. He was here a total of 20 minutes at the most. My husband was handed a bill for $430.00. My hunbsbd and I were both in shock! The eventually agreed to give us a senior citizen discount of 10%, so it came down to around $400. i would never recommend using this plumber, unless you do not care what it costs!!! read more

Incompetent plumber.....do not use this company. I had a bathroom leak in the shower handle. Water was pouring out into tub and down to the ceiling below and we had to shut main water valve off. Called Ultimate Plumbing and had to pay upfront for the service call 125.00 and for a Diagnosis 133.00. Well the plumber came out and just kept looking at my ceilings where water had flowed from the bathroom leak. He kept saying "this is gonna be a big job"? after 15 minutes i asked him " aren't you going to go upstairs and take a look at the handle in the bathroom? He seem bothered I asked that and then proceeded to go upstairs. He looked at the faucet handle and then came back downstairs. He then went to his truck to get his ladder to cut holes in my ceiling?? I asked him what was causing the leak and he said " i have to cut the ceiling to find the problem". How incompetent is this??? I was upset now a half hour later that I have this leak and have no idea how bad the problem is? and this plumber then continued to insult me. He actually said "ok let me take off my plumber hat and put on my therapist hat"!! With that I asked him to leave. I had to call another plumbing company and explain the problem. The plumber went right upstairs to the bathroom and asked us to turn the main water on. We did and he was able to diagnose immediately that the "cartridge" inside the shower dial was cracked. He replaced the part in 15 mins and we turned water on and it was fixed. He did not once ask to cut holes in my ceilings.. The manager of the office was not helpful at all. She insisted her plumbers are taught to cut your ceilings when there is a leak even if you know where the leak is coming from. How ridiculous this is. She also said "well didn't you eventually need to cut the ceilings to do restoration from the water leaking"? I advised her yes I had to have restoration come in after the leak was repaired. I advised her I did not call their company for restoration I called for a plumber. I called Ultimate Plumbing because of reports of toilets not flushing at my facility. The technician diagnosed it as a faulty water pump in my well. I spent $2,500 for a non-working system (after declining an additional $1,000 for a tank I may or may not need). They said I would need to fix my breaker to operate. Turned out to be power issue from duke resolved the next morning, but the breaker was fine despite getting tripped. So I hired an electrician which cost me another $155 to tell me the breaker was fine and the problem is in my well at the pump. After their techs chased their tails for two days, providing me with increasingly hostile customer service, they concluded that I failed to provide them electrical specs and they would need a special order pump that would cost me an additional $1,400. I passed and hired a well pump contractor to do the work. He pulled their pump and found they dropped a 115 volt pump in my commercial 208 application. Meanwhile I paid out an additional $260 to get a couple porta Johns dropped so we could keep the doors open at our business. I asked the office if they used a sewer camera on my well and got no response. I asked what the ratio of unscented bleach they reportedly used for my well was and also received no response. The lack of service from the office all the way to the techs was wildly frustrating and cold. If your toilet doesn't flush, you may be fine. But if you have a problem with your well, call a well/pump contractor. Personally, I'll never do business with a company that proved a lack of integrity to fix a mistake when it's made. read more

I had a wall that was wet and before they came in the house they said that it would be $500.00 to repair. I agreed and it turned out to be a pin hole leak in a pipe which took 40 minutes to repair. I said that it seemed like $500.00 was a lot to charge for such a small repair. They said that since I had agreed to that amount that it would remain at $500.00. I believe that they take advantage of people that are in a vulnerable situation This is not a business that I would recommend to anyone. read more

Ultimate Plumbing was highly recommended to me. I called Ultimate Plumbing and they responded in a timely manner. A service tech was dispatched within an hour of calling. From there the service went downhill at 1000 miles an hour. I was told I would be charged $260 for emergency weekend call out fee and once job was quoted and I accepted the quote the fee would be reduced to $125. I never should have accepted the quote of $634 including the reduced emergency call out fee of $125 (MY BAD). The service technician proceeded to cut a hole in bedroom wall and install new shower valve/cartridge. Once installed I was told water lines we reversed because no hot water was coming out with valve in hot water position which was not true. The tech then proceeded to cut the Pex fittings and while doing so he dropped his Pex crimper down behind bedroom wall. Now he had to cut an even larger hole in the wall to retrieve his crimper. Once valve was reinstalled still no hot water coming out with valve in hot position. The technician then removed the valve cartridge and found out he had installed it incorrectly. Once valve was installed properly the hot water was restored and faucet working properly. Then the technician tried to upsell me a $980 drain blowout because my bathroom sick was draining slowly (drain stopper was broken in almost down position needing a new bathroom faucet not a full drain blowout) and a $1000 filter install at my well pump because of some silt residue from turning the well pump off/on numerous times. Service breakdown: Arrived at 6:05pm Finished quote at 6:10pm Started faucet replacement at 6:20pm and finished at 7:45p. In the 1hr and 25min of service call time minus 35 min for Lowes run, 10 min retrieving dropped tool behind wall and 10 min removing and replacing cartridge correctly. The actual labor spent on my service call repair was 30 min. Therefore the $634 charge minus the $125 reduced emergency call out fee the labor charge for 30min was $509 per half hour or $1018/hr. The weekend emergency call out fee & service fee area a bait n switch tactic. They tell you it will be $260 and if you accept there quote they drop it $135. The deceiving part is their quote is so high and if you don't accept it they rip you off the $260 as a failure to accept the scam quote. So at the $1018/hr labor charge I should be glad the service technician went above and beyond his job scope to take painters tape and secure the pieces not piece of drywall cut out to perform faucet repair. While putting the drywall back he mentioned he shouldn't be taping and securing the drywall he was doing it because he was a nice guy. Think twice before calling Ultimate Plumbing on the weekend. Maybe during the week Ultimate Plumbing has a reduced hourly labor rate of $1000/hr. P.S Had to give 1 Star or I couldn't post a review. In response to you maybe you should be upfront and tell prospective customers you are a flat rate company and what that means. By not being up front with the prospective customer we either pay $260 for the technician to present a quote that is like I said before $535/half hour and send them away and get nothing or get whacked with the flat rate fee of $535 and get a technician (your so called 15+yr experienced tech) that is going to make a mess of my wall, uninstall the valve because he says the water lines and reversed (NOT!!!), and install the cartridge backwards. If this is your most experienced technician I am sincerely glad you didn't dispatch and much less experienced technician. Your first response to my initial email was you are a flat rate company and charge the weekend call fee and dispatch fee of $260 and wave $135 of that initial $260 fee. Either way you make $260 for doing nothing but show up to my home and present me with a ridiculous quote or I accept the ridiculous quote fee at $535/half hour or $1070/hr for the work performed. You mentioned nothing of a refund in your initial response. Prospective customer beware and savvy you will be the next unsuspecting victim of their pricing tactics. read more

Misdiagnosis Night Mare. DO NOT USE! Plumbers initial diagnosis of the problem was due to a root in the yard breaking the main line. After a 16 ft. deep trench had been dug in our yard and still not reaching the main line we decided to contact the Town of Mooresville to take a look. Two employees from the Town of Mooresville sewer department spent 15-20 minutes determining the problem was not in the yard but in the pipe under the house. If those employees from the town would not have found this, Ultimate Plumbings next plan of action was to rent a larger excavator and tear the yard up further. Our yard and part of our neighbors was badly torn up and 25' dogwood tree gone. Ultimate Plumbing misdiagnosed the whole problem. My husband asked to speak to the owner but the owner will not call us back and we were initially asked to pay them for line clearing/camera fee for clearing the pipe under the house. Who's paying us for the major damage in the yards that was not necessary. read more

I had no water to my sink and dishwasher wasn't working. Two young guys show up and tell me it's the dishwasher not the line and it's the faucet not the line. He cuts the 400$ faucet and puts the new one in he made me go buy and it still doesn't work well. Then he tells me to get repair guy to do dishwasher that they can't so I pay another company and in two seconds the other company says no it was the washers breaking apart clogging the lines. Nothing is wrong with the dishwasher or the faucet. So now I'm out 500$ for a couple washers. I call to speak to a manager and of course no one called back. The kids they sent had no clue what they were doing. One even told me he had never used a dishwasher his mom always does it! It was seriously dumb and dumber. Stay away! read more

I wouldn't even give them 1 star, but I suppose something has to be checked to leave a response. The job was handled quite poorly from the beginning. For a job that should've been at MAX $250, they charged me $780. The tech who came out, didn't even come into my house to inspect the problem, just started snaking the outside lines. Why, I have NO idea - as the issue was contained on the second floor - first floor, everything was working fine. But again, he didn't bother to listen to me, the paying customer on what the issue was. He never presented any costs to me prior to beginning work. He was of course unsuccessful with what he was doing - BECAUSE THE CLOG WAS UPSTAIRS. Finally asked him, why don't you just snake the toilet that is messed up? He then replied "well I'm trying to save you money - what I've already done is $500 and to remove and snake toilet is another $250". WTH. Long story short, he ended up trying to snake the laundry room, then the master shower. Finally took apart the master toilet. Within 2 minutes (if that) of snaking, the clog was free. But that's not all. He pretended to reinstall toilet. Was not bolted down. called them back out, he said the seal was broken - by HIM of course. Tried replacing it, then gluing it down, and even glued the caps that cover the bolts. Left house in complete mess and tracked mud all through my house. I asked for refund, they offered $100. Slap in my face. Now I have a toilet that will most likely need to be replaced. with all the gum/glue and scratches/gouges in my toilet cover - it looks like TRASH. DO NOT EVER USE THEM. Responded quickly to my initial call. Was able to come out in a timely manner. Was professional reliable courteous did a great job with a fair price. No complaints and I'll use them again and recommend them to others. My initial review is the above paragraph. since that time they've been over to my house again and although the work was OK it was not satisfactorily completed and we had to call them out again. These guys are always courteous and they do show up but I need more than that to keep a five star review, I had left it though because I thought maybe it was a fluke Recently, I called in the morning because our hot water heater was out. I was told that they would call me back within a short time to let me know if they fix that kind. No call back so I called at 4:30 that afternoon. I was told that yes they can fix that kind but it is a $300 diagnostic fee. I asked what that meant and he told me that it was $300 for them just to come to my house. I tried to clarify would that amount be subtracted from the bill after the problem is resolved and I could not get an answer so he transferred me. Eventually I was told yes that would be subtracted from the final bill and they could come out the next day. After I hung up I felt a little uneasy so I went to the water heater website and found that they recommended someone in Denver. I ended up going with that plumber and ended up paying less than half of what ultimate plumbing diagnostic fee alone was for the entire job to be completed. I can't say these are not good plumbers or the business isn't good but it isn't a five-star experience, but I think if you really need a plumber and they were available it's a decent bet. We had a hot water fitting that was leaking steadily through the drywall of our downstairs ceiling. Ultimate Plumbing responded quickly by coming out the next morning by 8:45am. Nick was polite and personable. He fixed the issue quickly. That being said, the price for repair was higher than expected. The $165 charge to come out seemed high but then we paid an additional $100 for the repair. While we understand that the diagnostic fee can be put toward the cost of the repair, when the repair takes 5 minutes and an additional $100, could pricing have been better? Also, we had to provide a drop cloth and bucket as he didn't have that with him and needed to cut several pieces of drywall from the ceiling. As a company, it would benefit their future customers if their staff came prepared with all equipment that would allow them to leave a job the way they came to it. read more

I called them based on their positive service reviews, they were quick to send out a technician. My call was needed for a broken kitchen sink disposal, or so I thought. Two different technicians arrived and hit a reset button on the bottom my disposal and it works just fine. I was charged $80.00 for someone to push a button, that is all. I could have been told over the phone to push the button to fix the issue, instead 2 employees were sent out to collect $80.00 for a button to be pushed.I was willing to give them a second chance as I need other plumbing work to be done. I asked for a credit of $80.00 to be applied to my next service call, and was refused. It's a shame that solid work can be negated by GREED. Buyer beware of Ultimate Plumbing's "FLAT RATE PRICING". We were charged over $600 for about 30 minutes of work (plus a quick trip to the office 3 miles away for a filter). Never rely on verbal estimates, even if you are trusting you will receive a fair quote. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE, this company's representative (Adam) had my wife sign a work completed computer document and then slipped in a separate pre-work quote, "work start" to be signed. Now they are hiding behind that signed quote document and won't reconsider a fair resolution. I spoke briefly with Adam by phone and he told me "he was tired of people telling them how much they were going to pay". He even suggested that he did me a favor and could have charged me double with their "FLAT RATE PRICING" because he worked on 2 filters (he relocated one we already had in about 10 minutes- he installed another small filter by my well in 20 minutes). As I said before, BUYER BEWARE! (or you might get taken advantage of like we did). Don't fall for this- GO ELSEWHERE! 10/3 update... After 2 requests they sent me an itemized invoice. They say they charged me for 3 hours work plus about $150 in parts. Really, 3 hours work? I should also mention that I spent part of Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning fixing a leak under the house where the filter they moved had collapsed. Did it myself. This a belated review but, better late than never. I don't live in NC right now, but I still have a condo in Charlotte. I have to say that Joe and his crew are the best!! My condo is in a building built in 1940 that had some issues with old pipes. He worked on the condo a few years ago. I was very impressed!! There is a maze of pipes under the building and no one knew where the shut offs were, but, he was able to find them. He is very knowledgeable, efficient and neat. He had to break through concrete and wire mesh to get to the pipes for the shower. He not only fixed the pipes, he repaired the wall and cleaned up all the broken concrete and wires. Ultimate quoted me $3000 to replace 25' of cast iron pipe with PVC, only 5' of which had to be dug up (2' deep from foundation wall to cleanout in the yard). I dug up the 5' of pipe myself - it took me just two hours - and hired another plumber to replace the pipe for $600. I question the reviews here that say their prices are reasonable. Terrible experience. Stay far away from these guys. They did work I didn't ask them to do then billed me anyway. When I asked about the additional charge they threatened to put a lien on the house if the bill wasn't paid within a week. Find another plumber!! read more

Beware of this company. My wife hired Ultimate Plumbing to install a kitchen faucet. They installed the faucet and within a month a fitting they installed failed on the water supply line. We brought in another plumber who repaired it and said originally the wrong fitting was installed on the faucet. This lead to our house being flooded which damaged our hardwood floors, cabinets, subfloor and insulation. They asked my wife to not file a claim through their liability insurance company but to let them take care of it. They brought in a company to restore our house. Unfortunately, the company did part of the work and decided to only re-insulate the subfloor where it could be readily seen. Come to find out they consciously decided to not re-insulate 25-50% of my subfloor in an area they thought we would not see. I have contacted Ultimate Plumbing 4 times and left a message with the secretary(who identifies herself as the owners sister-in-law) who told me she would make the owners aware and would have them contact me. Needless to say Ultimate Plumbing has decided to not try and resolve this situation. I haven't received any response from the owners. Unfortunately, next week I will have to initiate the process of filing a civil lawsuit against Ultimate Plumbing. Unless you want to take a chance with this company I recommend you STEER CLEAR of Ultimate Plumbing. read more

I called to replace a wax ring. They came out the next day. Everyone was so friendly. I would use them again hands down.

No inter office communication I called Ultimate to have them replace a drain valve on a water heater in a weekend lake rental mobile home. I explained to the lady on the phone that it was a well maintained mobile home from 1988. I further explained that I had it rented for the coming that weekend and that I was too busy to fix it. She said they would have someone out there by 2 PM. I was pleased when they called back and said they would arrive by noon. I felt that I had a new plumber!!! My wife met him and showed him the drain valve. The Plumber said that he did not have the piece to fix it and could not/would not fix it. He said that they do not fix mobile home water heaters. I made it clear that it was a mobile home on the initial call. My wife told him that I was handy and he explained to her what I needed to do to fix it. I already knew how. I did not have the time!!! He then charged us $50 and left without fixing anything. I had to get up at 2:30 in the AM the next day to go down there and fix it. It took me about an hour. It was Standard ¾ in drain valve. I called Ultimate Plumbing and asked for a refund. The office manager said that she would look into it. I told her that I had clients and I would be available for a return call between 12-5 any afternoon. The next day the plumber called me at 8 AM. He left a message. I returned his call between 12-5 that afternoon. I told them that I was returning a call about my refund. I have not heard back. They have trouble communicating between the office and the staff and charged me $50 to not fix a simple problem read more
