I came here with 3 friends for brunch in mid-February 2023. We had made a reservation for 11 AM on a Saturday but due to unforeseen circumstances we were running late and had to cancel the day of. We ended up arriving around 1:30 PM without having been able to make a replacement reservation and the café was very busy as expected for a weekend. The staff were really accommodating and found space for us at a table for 3, which was a tight squeeze but workable (otherwise we were told we could maybe be seated starting 2:30 PM at the earliest). Two of us ordered the Matcha Morning formule and the other two ordered the Umami brunch. The hot & cold drinks and granola bowls came out first and the rest of the food came about 15 minutes later. The Umami brunch was very complete and had a good balance of sweet and savory. The karaage chicken was especially well-liked as well as the matcha crepe cake for dessert. I would definitely recommend getting the Umami brunch if you're hungry enough and want a full meal. The Matcha Morning was a little more disappointing. Other than drinks, it consisted principally of a fruit salad and a choice of chia pudding or granola bowl. The 2 of us who ordered the Matcha Morning both opted for the granola bowl. We found that the fruit salad and granola bowl basically had the same fruits topped with the same candies yuzu so it was pretty repetitive/one-note overall. The brunch/formules were pretty generous in letting you select any hot drink for no added cost, including double matcha lattes. The matcha lattes were of good quality and it was possible to order non-dairy options. The café itself was clean and comfortable with a nice ambiance. If you have time there is also a small grocery section where various Japanese products such as curries, dashi, teas, crockery, water bottles, etc. are sold. Stopped by for a Matcha Croissant and it was the worst and most expensive croissant I've ever had in my life--even the free leftover croissants at my hotel were much better. Sure, it was green on the inside, but there was not even the slightest hint of matcha taste in it. For 3€, you are paying for small and dry croissant--sort of like the type you buy in a pack at a discount store, but I bet even those taste better. Needless to say, it was disappointing and barely held me over as the first food item in my stomach--and I've been okay with one croissant for breakfast at this point. I get that they're not authentic. Seems like they've hopped on the matcha bandwagon and don't really hold much quality to their expensive food. Service was not that much better, either. The Matcha Latte is more for those wanting to enjoy the pure Matcha flavor, and the Umami Matcha is a little more on the sweet side. Didn't really taste much of the white chocolate, but gives the drink a good amount of sweetness. The Yuzu Tart has the perfect amount of Yuzu. Highly recommend for Yuzu fans! The matcha tiramisu was BOMB! It hit a ton of great notes. They really perfected the amount fluffiness, sweetness, and texture. I also enjoyed their matcha latte. You can tell they used the proper technique to whisk their matcha. I would definitely return again. When we came the place was crowded with locals. You really have to like matcha to eat here. We saw this place strolling by our hotel and of course my wife being the a lover of all things matcha had to come here. The restaurant is very modern and it is sit down, so although as it may seem you order and sit, they wait you. Everyone comes out fast, they speak English to. For the matcha lovers in Paris, this is a match-a made in heaven ;) As a matcha lover myself, I thoroughly enjoyed Umami. It is a bright, modern spot near the Republique metro station that offers matcha-flavored products as well as other light Japanese cuisine (e.g. salads, soba noodles). There is also a small market section where you can purchase expensive, artisanal Japanese groceries. The matcha latte and matcha cookie were both quite good, although I can't speak for the other food. Also, note that it is a bit pricey as it's in Marais Nord. I would come back here, but only with other people who also enjoy matcha! read more

The matcha café that Paris was desperately needing - and finally received! Alright, if you come here, it's probably best that you enjoy matcha. Most of their menu offerings are matcha-based and it's definitely the star of the house here. Their iced matcha latte had a crisp and clean taste, perfectly made and mixed. I came here a couple of weeks ago for a post-yoga pick me up. My friend and I each had a matcha latte, which we enjoyed, but wasn't the best I've had, even in Paris. It was also quite expensive and really small, which I guess is to be expected in a "specialty" cafe, but still. The coolest part of this place is that they stock and sell artisanal Japanese products like vinegars, noodles, and soya sauces. We were looking around, and the guy working there let us try some of the products, which was really cool because they were delicious. I'd come back if I had more disposable income to buy some of these products, but I don't think I'd come back for food or drinks in the cafe part...the food looked ok, although we didn't try anything. read more

Very very disappointed. We were a Japanese couple traveling in Paris. We visited the cafe in 29th April 2018. It was in the afternoon. A woman welcomed us but she was not willing to guide us to a table. We needed to ask her twice to do so. Besides, she did not wipe the table. Another woman came us to apologize and to cover up her lack of service. She wiped the table for us instead of her. If that was a case of color of our skins, that was very disappointing. Since the cafe was about a concept of Macha, which is Japanese traditional tea. If someone can not respect another culture, he/she should not work in that place. Find another. I am just wondering, most people in Paris can not live without tourists in terms of money making , but they try to maintain their pride by discrimination against other race? Sorry this place has such bad service and is so unauthentic. It's very overpriced, for just some bread with some matcha powder to make it green. I ordered a set menu for Sunday brunch which came with fresh orange juice and after waiting 10 minutes, the waitress brought ice water with a slice of citrus. When I asked what it was she said, "oh sorry I forgot to say when you ordered that we are out of orange juice, this is on the menu too." What restaurant makes these types of substitutions without prior notice? When she brought the "brunch", the toast was burnt black on one side. At least the girl I asked for gave me a different piece of toast. We waiting 20-25 minutes to be seated in the back corner at the bar seat, where I was seated directly in front of the leg of the table, halfway off the table, so uncomfortable. They had another "real" table, but only one chair for it??
