This review is about their catering service. I always knew that UMOM was an organization to help the homeless, but I just found out they also do catering. One of our events had lunch catered. We were all ooo'ing and ahhh'ing over the food. We asked where it was from. UMOM we were told. What??!! We didn't know they had a catering service! The wraps were delish, fresh and flavorful as well as the salads. And after checking out the online menus, soooo economical. I definitely want to check out the cafe. I'll see if it's at the 3333 E Van Buren address location.

Always always donate to this place opposed to goodwill. Housing is on site. I hear their catering service rocks. Oh yeah, and the staff is friendly too ;) was just here to donate today and was a great experience all around.

It's a very nice facility with a full kitchen, fully stocked thrift shop and I'm sure much more.

Everyone gets "CASS cough," a long-lasting respiratory illness. The ventilation ducts and ceilings are caked with years of built-up crud. If you've have breathing problems expect them to get worse there. Case managers aren't much help, except for giving you useless "resources." Security staff are relentlessly rude and will put out the person on the receiving end of a scuffle rather than the instigator. SMDH! Expect to jettison what few belongings you might have. Needed an electrical outlet to run my CPAP at night. I had to jump through hoops for days to get moved to a bunk near an outlet. Then other guys would unplug my machine in the middle of the night to misuse the outlet to charge their phones. Do not leave anything of the slightest value unattended--it WILL be stolen. If you want to lock your storage drawer you will need to foot the bill for a lock. Avoid, even if it's your last resort.

People are ungrateful - when I read over the reviews I just thought to myself that people are ungrateful - they arent perfect and some staff are not very helpful with attitudes but not all and as for u cleanliness they do the best they can - they come in and clean the restrooms m-f on the women's side and clean the common area - if everyone would throw away there trash instead of on the floor and respect the place instead of feeling entitled even tho there homeless it would be cleaner but no they have no respect or gratitude towards the help they get with a roof over there head, free wifi , and t You can have your loads of trash held there when u know u don't need all that shit - so people need to chill with there negative comment about Cass because I for 1 appreciate the time I've been there - because what else what I have done without this place ?

EVMC has a 94-bed shelter that provides comprehensive programs and strategies for each resident. For many men facing challenges because of past substance abuse, criminal involvement, life changing events or simply a long life on the streets, it means a long road back and that journey starts here. EVMC does pre-screened of potential residents before enrollment. They are asked to be candid about the problems that resulted in their homelessness. Once at the facility, EVMC staff ensure that each resident comply with established rules. During their stay, all residents must work full-time and save 85% of their income. Some area churches has given bicycles, reflectors, helmet to help residents travel to these jobs. A New Leaf and EVMC believes that the key to success for the residents in re-entering society is providing life skills training, work assistance, counseling, socialization skills, food, basic needs and shelter. There are also Case Managers who work individually with residents to set personal goals and address their barriers in becoming productive and contributing members of society. If you, or your organization are interested in serving a meal (lunch or dinner) to a group of men who are getting back on their feet, please call (480) 610-6722.
