The services they do and offer here for the homeless is wonderful. My wife and I came to feed the homeless for the first time and everything they do for them is amazing. Definitely kept us busy! All questions you have are answered when prepping. Feeding so many people for free is just amazing. They are very organized and could always use the help. The parking isn't the best and you're surrounded by obvious homeless everywhere so make hard to leave some but overall we had a great time and would definitely come back and help. read more

Andre House has been a vital resource and safe place for the unsheltered in Phoenix for years. Their volunteers are always working so hard to provide food, supplies, and community to folks in need. Their staff is amazing. Especially Taylor! She has done so much to help people connect with housing, work, rehabilitation and medical care. She goes above and beyond always. 6 days a week the guests are able to get water, clothes, showers, a hot meal and assistance with housing and resources. Taylor and the staff at André House protect their guests, serve them faithfully and do it with a smile. Andre House is a critical resource for so many living on the streets of downtown Phoenix. What an amazing service this place offers to our homeless and working poor population. They also feed 400-600 people 4 out of 5 nights per week. Yelp Helps! brought me here for the first time, and it was an amazing--and eye opening--experience. Having taken the light rail to work downtown for several years, I've seen first-hand the homeless population. It has always made me hope more could be done to assist them with a good quality of life. However, I wasn't aware just a few blocks away from the downtown office tower where I spend the majority of my life was this wonderful place doing so much good! Until today. This was the second volunteering event I've attended through Yelp. I love the idea of using Yelp to educate us about the importance of giving back to our community, outside of being a useful tool to find the best sushi or bacon recipes in town. After an informative orientation, we were led to the basement to sort clothing that would soon be selected by a person in need. Their operation was fantastic, from sorting clothes and shoes to sizing them and organizing what will best be useful. Truly a humbling experience. And a personally rewarding one, as well. read more

I've volunteered here a few times serving food and helping with sorting clothes for the homeless population in Phoenix. It's amazing how many people Andre House help on a daily basis and throughout the day (over 500 folks daily). I think it's awesome that people have this resource that are needing assistance. Staff is nice and they all seem to have hearts of gold. Shout out to the humble volunteers that make time to volunteer with this amazing non profit and to those who haven't been - I highly recommend! I have been volunteering here for years. We prep, cook, serve, and clean up for the evening meal. They are open every evening for dinner except Friday. It is associated with the Catholic religion. One does not need to be Catholic in order to receive their services. They provide not only meals but clothing, showers, lockers, haircuts, and other services. One does not need to be homeless in order to receive services. Believe me, there are many more clients we serve at the end of a month versus the beginning since in some cases the money runs out long before the month. I enjoy volunteering here. The volunteers are friendly. The clients are thankful, and most will voice their thankfulness. We start the prep work around 3:00, cook, and are ready to serve dinner 5:30-6:30. Afterwards, the kitchen and dining hall is cleaned, and the process starts all over. If you either need volunteer hours or would like to give a bit of help to humanity, I would suggest volunteering here. read more

This operation is dependant on volunteers 100% because of the number of people that they feed, clothe, and shower here on a daily basis. On my first visit, I was working in the basement sorting shoes, and immediately you get an opportunity to see the effect the items have in someone's life. This program helps the homeless population keep clothed in business and casual clothes so that they can find gainful employment. They offer dinner 6 days a week and access to shower facilities. Because of the neighborhood they also watch out for those that would be vulnerable, such as women and children to help them transition to a more suitable and safe shelter. The arrangement between Andre House and St Vincent De. Paul is working to better the lives of many. Donations are a vital part of this organization and the generosity of people is essential to keeping this organization in operation. Last September The Lord shared Andre House with me. The Blessings that followed have been Life Changing. To attend on a Saturday morning means hanging in the parking lot out back. I must say ~ I Do Believe Jesus Loves a Tailgate Party!!! Jesus, Mamma Jo, Family and Friends just show up every other Saturday, (2/25,3/11,etc). They Bring The Word of Truth, The Springs of Living Waters, The Bread of Life and The Love of God! They Bring and Share what they have in Abundance. The need is Great. The Workers are Few. Andre House in downtown Phoenix is a place of big hearts and generous attitudes! Dropped off supplies for people experiencing homelessness today and was greeted by the most amazing people. And only a fraction of them were the actual staff and volunteers! The center buzzes with active and isn't necessarily the most organized place with so many people coming and going, socializing and working, but what they lack in sophistication they more than make up for in good spirit and welcoming feelings. If you are looking for a way to help out your fellow man this year, Andre House is a great place to start. I have volunteered here on average once a month over the past year and I hope to continue. It is hard work. Like 4-5 hours of straight hustle and bustle; but it is so rewarding! Call down there or sign up online, they are always in need of a few extra hands but you cannot just drop in.
