I love wine and paint nights! But the selection of paintings at uncorked canvas is my favorite!

Paint nights are a great way to spend an evening together. We love doing it, and uncorked canvas gets a lot of things right. The location on A street is great with loads of street parking, the venue is huge and the distribution of seats is good, not too cramped. Complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, snacks and soda are provided to all patrons. Management is professional and sweet. But, our instructor for the night was a little off in terms of guiding us through the painting. She was great and tried to repeatedly emphasize that the goal of the night was to have fun but quite honestly we also cared about ending up with a good painting. We would suggest that the instructors provide clearer guidance on how to go about making the painting so that the participants can go home with something they can cherish for years to come. My friends and I have gone here a few times for paint night. Since Covid we have been wanting to do another one. I ordered three kits from their website and the next day I got an email saying everything was ready for pickup. Everything we needed was included. No easels but they demonstrated the painting laying flat so that wasn't a problem. We actually super loved this format, we were able to pause when we needed to, get more drinks and snacks, take breaks.... it took us about three hours start to finish, but that worked for our time frame. It was really fun, I hope they keep this new way of doing these for us ladies who like to take a little while longer. read more

I recently had a great experience working with Rebekah to host an off-site event for Valentine's Day at Odd Otter Brewing Company. Rebekah took care of all the details, from creating the event painting to managing to online booking through their website and then pulling it all together the evening of the event. The space set up looked amazing! The managed to squeeze 27 canvases into the back end of the brewery. Her assistant even put out chocolate covered pretzels in Valentine themed bowls for everyone. Little touches that made it that much better. Rebekah did an awesome job instructing the painters. She was funny and did a great job explaining the techniques and processes needed to create the painting. My daughter participated and had a really great time. I'm looking forward to hosting more events at Odd Otter Brewing Company with Uncorked Canvas! read more

Not at all my most favorite experience. Hardly any instruction, we were given one 4oz glass of wine after 30 minutes into the event, and we were given a stencil for drawing the face. For $40 it seemed a bit steep of a price, given the canvas are under $10 from an art supply store and the glass of wine was pitiful. You cannot purchase additional beverages here, like buying your own wine after the free one. Others said other paint and sip event places offer more instruction/guidance and more wine. One of the customers at my event had an emergency (fainted or epileptic seizure?) and paramedics arrived, and the entire feel of the room seemed heavy. Someone had asked if we could have another glass of wine or a heavier than 4oz pour, and we were told it was against the law based on their business license. The event felt rushed, as the instruction was thrown off due to the emergency, and then I felt like I wanted to leave ASAP as the energy vibe was not relaxing of an experience. Her music selection was "Dawson's Creek" on Pandora playlist, and while the instructor was bragging about her fun memories of the music, I wanted to put in my headphones and listen to another selection of music (I didn't do that, but wanted desperately to as the music was gross in my opinion). The instructor told us to get photos when we weren't even finished, which felt super rushed and uncomfortable. I wouldn't do this again here. I might try another location instead. For $40 this was a pretty awful experience in my humble opinion. I would've paid $15 and felt okay with my take-home piece, but my "experience" was pretty gross overall. read more

It was Sunday morning when I received a call that the reservation I made almost two months ago for a date night with my wife was canceled due to circumstances out of my control. With a babysitter already reserved and a disappointed wife I turned to the interweb for help. Searched "things to do in Seattle" first. Nothing on a Sunday night appealed to us. Then I search Bellevue, Olympia and finally a last ditch effort Tacoma. Up popped uncorked canvas, no pun intended. To my surprise they had something going on that night. I called and someone actually answered the phone. Then she informed me the art class was full. I told her my sob story and she said she would talk to the instructor and see if she could fit us in. 20 minutes later she called back and said come on down. At this point I have to point out that I am color blind. Not completely, I can see most colors I just have a hard time telling shades of colors. So when I sat down I got a little nervous. Now I want to be honest I enjoyed the experience but to be completely upfront there were too many student for the 2 teachers. But that was my fault for butting into a full class. There was no running water so it was hard to dump and refill your rinse water for the brushes. I felt rushed, again my fault because I picked a harder picture than most of the class. And they only gave us one glass of wine, which I found hard I enjoy because I was always behind. At the end they let us stay late and smiled the entire time. My painting came out much better than I expected. So will I go back and do I recommend you go.... Yes and yes. Wine and paint. Sounds easy enough. It's nothing technical like basket weaving brews or bourbon glass blowing.... Whatever my wife wants, Monkey do and just drink the wine, right? My wife is a painter. Our walls are different colors and one is a Seahawks mural in what would have been the man cave, but now nephew library. Me, I got great ideas that somehow come together into her plan. No worries here though. Everyone is a novice and instructors are patient and encouraging. Monkey in need of drink to be happy with how different my painting is, from everyone else. More wine please. It still looks like crap. Instead of goin' ugly early, Monkey drank way more and went home with a jacked up painting, headache and a very happy wife. In the end, this experience was fun, entertaining and loose. for her. Great location in beautiful downtown Tacoma, various workshops to choose from and you get a free drink (wine, beer, soda, whatever) with it. I've been to quite a few paint & sip workshops before...i came by myself this time and purposely sat up front coz i knew that there wouldn't be anyone to possibly assist (more like encourage) me if i fall behind. The instructor made it fun though! i would've given 5 stars but i felt rushed. And i get it, it's only a 2-hr window...i try to be a perfectionist even though it is what it is at the end of the day. :) read more

We had a great time doing this activity on a Saturday night. Don't be intimidated... they give you step by step easy to follow directions. The class is held in a super cute, eclectic little building in Tacoma, but arrive quite early because parking is a nightmare and once you do find a spot you will have to walk and try to find it which can be hard at night. The instructor was nice but seemed a little irritated at the group of women who had already been drinking when they arrive. I brought my Meetup.com/Ttown2030 group to the Uncorked Canvas. We had a great time painting and sipping wine. Our instructor Kaitlyn was super friendly, encouraging, VERY patient and gave great instructions. Everyone did a beautiful job, even us first time painters, and we now have beautiful canvases to hang at home. Everything you use is included: acryclic paints, palette, brushes, 16" x 20" stretched cotton canvas, easel, apron etc. I would recommend clothes you don't mind getting a dab of paint on. Acryclic washes off with soap and water but doesn't come out of clothes easily once dried. The wines were delicious, and beer is available. It would have been nice to have had some light snacks available such as crackers and cheese, and palettes rather than paper plates. Now in Tacoma, the studio is bright and spacious and well laid out, inside a beautiful building, on the second floor. Just being there makes you feel artistically creative. read more

Paid $35 bucks for a class we ended up not being able to take because the website didn't explain that a private party didn't mean you can create your own group and do your own thing. We tried before hand two weeks prior to get a hold of them so we could ask questions and they never answered their phone so we showed up and and were told we couldn't attend and on top of that we couldn't get a refund. read more

Very fun experience! Didn't have as much of the wine and cider as I expected, but I guess that made the painting better. Went in for a Saturday session which was supposed to be 3 hours long. While I had a nice time and created a pretty cool piece of art. I can't give this place a solid 5 for a few reasons - 1) The instructor seemed very rushed during the painting process. She would move ahead while most people at my table were still a couple steps behind. It's not so much that we couldn't figure it out, it's the act of making me FEEL rushed as if you don't want me there that I have a problem with. 2) One glass of wine and the selection is less than impressive for a 3 hour event. I would have preferred some form of a blush option like a White Zin personally and I ended up fighting to finish the red wine that I didn't care for. 3) They rushed us again toward the end of the event to start taking group photos when we had at least another 45 minutes left in our session! My painting was not even close to finished and they piled everyone in groups for the group photo....I finished up as quickly as possible at that point and left. I almost opted to not even join the photo because I really do not take pride in what was photographed. The end result YES, what they photographed? NO. If you are going to sell a 3 hour session LET PEOPLE ENJOY THE FULL 3 HOURS! It would not have been that hard to slow down a little and do the photos 30 minutes later when people were more apt to actually be finished. Overall I would probably try this at another location or company again cause it IS relaxing and fun, but doubt I will come back to a company where it's employees make you feel so rushed. **Edit for response to owner about timing - I sat by the door, I can guarantee you I was the first one to leave and I finished roughly 20 minutes after the first photo was forced upon us. IF people were REALLY ready to leave maybe a group photo of those people or people close to finished would have sufficed? (Considering the group photos were split up anyway I don't see how this would have been a problem if your assumption that people were ready to leave was actually correct, and again I was by the door...nobody left) My entire table felt rushed to take a photo that they were not ready to take (I was not with any of them so it wasn't a group of friends agreeing). As to the instructor having time to "walk around"...I saw the assistant walk by our table...twice. Once to take beverage orders and once to get some more paint at my request because I basically yelled to her from across the room. I saw the instructor walk around ONCE during the break we were basically forced to take...if she's walking by on break time doesn't it defeat your purpose of her working quickly to be able to walk around to help? You can try to explain your logic all you want but I was THERE, I know your logic is to make yourself look better and it's not actually accurate. As to a good Zin, I don't work for you, I don't get paid to be your Wine Connoisseur, throw ONE in there because not having any at all is worse than serving a mediocre one. Oh, and on a side note, NOBODY was carded, I'm quite certain that's a problem when serving alcohol.** read more

My girlfriend had her birthday party here and we had so much fun. I have done a palettes and painting class one time before near my house and my painting turned out ok. I thought the instructor we had did a much better job teaching and helping everyone with their paintings. She was really nice and helpful. OH I should say that we did the "funky tree" painting. Side note which was kind of cool, is that for our party we could bring in our own alcohol which is really nice. I definitely would recommend this place. read more

The idea itself is wonderful, painting beautiful things yourself with the guided help of some very talented people while sipping good booze. But it's not just a great idea at Uncorked Canvas - they do a fantastic job carrying it into fruition as well. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, encouraging and extremely helpful, and the whole atmosphere welcomes you into a safe place to create something personal. Considering they provide the canvas, the paint, the brushes, the drinks, the snacks, the aprons and especially the instruction, $40ish per person isn't bad at all. We were gifted a gift certificate last Christmas and finally were able to use it last night! First of all, Denee' (responded to my e-mail inquiries) went above and beyond and was able to help us get all set up for this class! Unfortunately , I was under the impression that all paint and wine events were created equally . They are not and this place sets the low bar . First of all, paint and _WINE_. We could not order wine ! They gave us a chintzy cup of wine in a small Dixie cup . My husband asked for a beer and they served BEER in the same small cup ! I would have happily paid for all the drinks myself ! Next , our instructor was an excellent artist but a POOR teacher . We know you know all the techniques, but throw us a bone . Blue, black and green mix are not created equal - they do not just magically turn turquoise and you need to elaborate . Your stippling "technique" is hard to watch on your little ass canvas even projected on the tv . You need to use your words - how should one hold the brush, how heavy of a hand we should use , the direction of the strokes . GIVE ME SOMETHING . FYI - every painting was awful except for grandma's. It's not that serious . Go to pinot's palette in puyallup or save your money and watch bob Ross on netflix . read more

Private paint groups aren't allowed to purchase wine, which defeats the purpose of a wine and canvas night. The instructor we had was complaining about the picture we chose and how when mixing colors we would ask how to better get the color we were needed. She kept saying we just didn't get it and she wanted to skip colors and didn't like the painting we chose. Our paintings turned out great but the instructor was discouraging with her complaining. I had a good time because of the group I was with, but will never go back. read more
