It was such a convenience having Maureen come to our house to groom our dogs. We'd been using her for over two years about very two months. In the past 3 visits at least 1 of our 3 dogs has come back bleeding a little. This past visit, our smallest 6lb dog had serious scrapes, bleeding, and a blood bruise from a grooming tool. The worst part is when I pointed it out to Maureen, she said I didn't even notice it. She did say she felt bad which I don't doubt, but she was either obliviously negligent, or equally as bad, didn't think to own up and mention it.

In addition, I asked to have his nails clipped and ears cleaned. When I got him home and let him out, it looked like absolutely nothing was done. He had some patches shaved near his thighs but was not brushed at all (still clumps of knotting hair), nails were not cut and ears had not been cleaned! I couldn't believe it. I paid $50 for shaving two tiny spots plus a $10 tip (not having had seen that nothing was done). Couldn't believe it. When speaking to Glenda, it is apparent that she is burnt out. It feels as if making an appointment is an inconvenience as she is abrasive in manner. I will not be returning.

I think that's a completely bs setup and, though I can "understand" why it's there, it is completely dumb. I've seen more small dogs hurt people than big dogs. Maybe if you let them into your training sessions they would be so.. "dangerous" Otherwise, the grooming staff love my boy and treat him well every time and that's the only reason I return there, as taking him elsewhere would restart his stress about getting his nails done all over again. He's mostly comfortable with the girls that take care of him, and for that, I do appreciate that. Update 6/4: Man the ladies here take such good care of my babies, couldn't ask for better people to trust to care for them in the grooming salon Update 6/22: A different gal than normal took care of my Duke today but she was gentle and loving with him just like the rest. Denise was there and always recognizes my babies. I love it Update 7/30: Bela always greets Duke with such love, as does Denise. He's extra squirmy today so Bela is consoling him while Shannon grinds his nails. They always do such a good job and treat my babies so well. I love the group of people they have at the salon, so compassionate. Kelsey came over to say hi as everyone there loves my pitty Duke Update 8/13: Very quick visit done by the nice gentlemen (I don't know his name). He did a pretty good job especially for only taking a couple minutes. He was done with Duke's nails by the time I had paid any walked back to the grooming salon. The Pet Smart in Brighton, MI is terrible. The fish tanks…read moreare crowded with plants and decorations so customers cannot see the fish for sale. The tanks glass is covered with stickers so you cannot see into the tanks. The tanks glass only gets cleaned once every two or three months and it's nearly impossible to see through. Contacting the corporate office accomplishes nothing because they only apologize, but do not address the complaint or take any corrective actions! Pet Smart is not serious about earning your business or this would not be allowed to continue. The Brighton, MI store manager has been allowed to completely trash the brand value of Pet Smart and the corporate office could not care less! This has been happening for about a year now, so if the corporate office cared this would have been addressed long ago!

The care givers are responsible, know how to take care of dogs and create a superb dog & owner environment. Our dog has made man human and canine friends at Pet Ritz. WARNING: writing this review to warn others to avoid boarding your dog at this place. I boarded my…read moretwo dogs here for approx 10 days last August. When my son picked them up they reported that both dogs " did great". Once back home, It was clear that my one dog wasn't feeling well or eating, so we took him to the vet who stated that he had been bit ( one puncture mark on his tail and two others on his back hip area ) ~ there was an open wound on his tail which was infected. The tail ended up being partly amputated ( about 1/3 ). Pet Ritz initially denied any accountability and quickly stopped any communication with us ~ they did not answer our phone messages or emails, and to this day have never reached out to us. If they would have called us when my dog was initially bit, we would have requested they notify the vet asap. If they would have at least informed us when we picked our dog up, we would have him directly to the vet. By ignoring the situation, the bite wound became infected, etc. I am still in disbelief regarding their lack of communication, accountability and empathy.
