Café 33 it is then! I wandered in to chalkboards, quirky signs and LOTS of Christmas decorations. ('Tis the season to be jolly and all!) It's eclectic and quirky! - Maybe a little bit much for some but I really loved the vibe. To me it felt very much like an old style cafe where you could sit and wile away the hours over a tea and cake. And there's lots of cake! Including gluten free options! They all looked delicious! The boards boast their gluten free meals and they aim to offer low-fat dishes where possible! I'm not sure if it's somewhere I'd head for an evening meal but as it got closer to 5, Café 33 showed no sign of getting quieter. It was bustling! And service was fast and friendly despite this. Whilst the cakes were tempting, I opted for my usual. (Chai latte, if you're asking!) I find that larger coffee chains can be a little too generous with the syrup and make theirs sickly sweet but Café 33's was a perfect mix of frothy milk, lovely chai tea and a generous dusting of cinnamon. Just the right amount of sweetness! So much so that I had a second! I'm sure I'll be back soon for my third!

It was agonising to have to make a choice!!! If I lived in Bridge of Allan I would make a point of visiting this cafe every week to try a bit of everything! There are savoury snacks and light lunches available too of course. I embarrassed myself hugely by knocking my full latte over the table and floor - what a mess!! The owner came over and quickly cleaned the table and floor before bringing me another latte - which she didn't add to the bill. Needless to say I was very apologetic and grateful. Definitely a lovely little cafe - and I can't recommend those wonderful cakes highly enough!!!

Having had brunch here previously, heading here for lunch was something I was excited about. It was very busy this time round so service was understandably a little slower. We did have a short wait for a table but it really wasn't long till we were seated considering it was peak lunching hour. Oh my word. Sandwich heaven. I had the bacon and mozzarella baguette with hot salsa and guacamole and it was absolutely delicious. Lots of cheese, lots of bacon, lots of yum. The Hideaway is just the perfect spot for tea and cake, I definitely want to sample their baked goods soon. Very, very soon!

It is a tad pricey, now I understand why - it's a small business trying to thrive in an age of fast food it has to be. So I can't blame the place, but people should know before going in. My main issue - and the reason it got such a low rating is the staff. There is a solid divide between the staff, some are lovely and have a jokey presence around them that truly makes you feel comfortable and is what made me come back. However some staff are incredibly rude. I'm not a very social person, so I don't mind people who aren't SUPER EAGER to talk, not to mention I work in hospitality and understand not always loving customers. But a few staff members are consistently rude, and standoffish. They have this pretentious presence and I can feel them rolling their eyes and scoffing at me. I just think a little goes a long way, and I'm not asking for much but working in a coffeehouse you can't complain you get customers. Overall a positive review for if you just need a place to study, eat, or get things done. But if you're looking to hang out with friends, you'll get eye rolls and scoffs. One more thing - there is a heavy distinction between upstairs and downstairs. If you're with friends please try get a seat upstairs, if you're downstairs it's incredibly library-esque, so not a hangout spot.

Stumbled upon Old Town Coffee House while looking for somewhere warm to hold up during a cold rain…read morestorm. The Coffee House has plenty of comfortable seating and was definitely warm. They had all the typical coffee shop offerings and reasonable prices. The barista was very friendly and our coffees were excellent. The Coffee House did have free wifi which was much appreciated. Would definitely return to the Coffee House if I found myself sleepy in Stirling or in need of a break from the rain/cold that occasionally passes through Scotland!

The food was plain, filling grub that kept us full during a long morning of sight seeing. I liked that you could order what you wanted from a long list of breakfast items and had the choice of the number of things you wanted. I had my first experience with vegetarian haggis and, although I can't say i have too much experience with it, really enjoyed it! In summation, this place was quaint, comfortable, filling, and affordable. It might not be winning any fine dining awards, but it doesn't have to. If a good, old fashioned breakfast is what you seek, seek no further.
