Special recognition was given to pastors representing some of the NBA teams. This event was inspirational and heartwarming and I look forward to next year. Two of what appeared to be church staff members told me to keep my voice down because they have speakers inside the fellowship. An airplane passed over and asked them to repeat what they said. One of them went off verbally at me and said "You heard what I said?" and my response was, this verbal onslaught was uncalled for because I did not hear what you said because of the airplane passing over above us. She apologized, but the first impression has already made its mark. Prostate cancer is a life and death battle. To be introduced to a test by verbal onslaught was uncalled for and not very hospitable. Please train staff properly because you may turn away a potential member or better, have a member leave because of verbal mistreatment.

I never encountered a negative experience in a religious school before. My church environment is so much more welcoming and supportive. I definitely don't recommend to have your children come to the church school if you don't want to have ongoing problems with staff and teachers throughout the 2 years like my cousin did, don't bring them here! You have so many classes and activities for the kids to do and learn about God and make new friends. My kids look forward to Sunday's. I get a little mini break my kids are in the classes and I get to go to service with my husband. We love to hear the word of God and just be in the presence of the lord. We have services 8:30, 1030 and 12:30. We have a lot of parking which is always a blessing.

I was looking forward to attending a women's retreat and connecting with a new community during a challenging time in my life. Unfortunately, my experience trying to sign up was disappointing and left me feeling discouraged. I was told (by Nicole) I needed to attend a Sunday service before receiving the retreat signup link, which felt more like a barrier than an invitation. While I understand churches have processes, the way the conversation was handled left me feeling overwhelmed, uncomfortable, and unwelcome especially after I had openly shared that I was going through a lot. I shared with Nicole how I was feeling in the moment, but didn't receive any follow up or encouragement afterward. I personally host women's events, and I would NEVER interact with someone this way, especially when they are coming in vulnerable and seeking community. My hope is that churches remember how important it is to lead with warmth and compassion, especially when someone is reaching out in need. I'm grateful my faith is strong, but I can imagine how an experience like this could impact someone who is new or searching. I've prayed about sharing this and ultimately chose to speak up, not to tear anyone down, but to advocate for myself and for others who may be seeking support and community.
