FINALLY! I have been buying little clothes for my wife to wear for 5 minutes before I eat them off her for years while I wear some boring Calvins and now I have my own store too! We read about this place in a couple magazines and finally got downtown to shop and happened across the half yearly sale. Holy smokes! The staff were VERY friendly - glad I was with my wife ;-D) and were able to explain the 20 different fabrics, 100+ different designers, size differences btwn each designer, etc. Everything I bought I love - looks great, fits great, feels great! I have a pile of man-gerie. All women need to go here to buy something nice to eat off your man! Turn about is fun play! read more

Not sure why there is two separate Yelp listings for the Portland, Broadway location. Anyways, I'm adding my review to this one since it has more reviews. If you've ever been plagued by the notion that your underwear comes from sweatshops and other deplorable working conditions, then I have some good news for you. UU4M has done their research and stands behind the brands they sell. This was the main selling point for me becoming a customer. In addition to that, the staff have ALWAYS been very polite and helpful to me (even when I don't purchase anything). I'm pretty picky about underwear and always have a zillion questions. Some of the newer staff aren't always able to give me the best run-down on all the products, but you can usually track down one of the more senior employees. Heck, I've actually emailed and called them before and they've always gone to great lengths to help me. I also appreciate UU4M because they carry unique and creative designs (even from independent and local producers). I hate the idea of looking like everyone else, so it's nice that they have a regularly rotating selection. All sorts of different fabrics, fits/cuts, and budgets. If you're looking for high end undies, you've come to the right place. If you're looking for a 12 pack of hanes/fruit of the loom for 4.99, you're totally in the WRONG place. Not everyone cares about the social and environmental impacts of their buying habits. But for those of us that try to be aware, UU4M is here to help. If you don't think you can afford to spent 10-20 bucks on a pair of really comfortable, stylish, and durable underwear on a regular basis, at least consider this a place where you might splurge once in a blue moon. You know, when you want to treat yourself... or when you know you're gonna get some hot sweet action and need to be lookin' fly. Because no one wants to see you in your saggy, skid marked, walmart boxers. Lastly, I want to note that UU4M is very "straight-friendly". Though I know that's a silly concept, I've had a lot of friends giggle when I rave about the place. Many people assume their market is aimed strictly toward the gay community and find it odd that I would be so excited about the store. I'm pretty sure the owners would agree that their target audience are people who want better underwear. Customers are customers, regardless of sexual orientation. If you have to be a member of the queer community to care about sustainability, anti-sweatshop policies, creativity/style, comfort, etc... then sign me up! Just because you're happen to like the opposite sex doesn't mean you have to wear shitty underwear. read more

I don't think I've ever been to an underwear store like this before. Sure, it's pretty small, but their selection is pretty crazy... They have everything from the fairly standard brands (CK, 2xist....) to the less common and more original (Paul Frank, Aussiebum etc), many of which I'd never heard before. Definitely the place to go if you're looking for fun and/or colorful underwear, but be ready to pay the price for it: most of their underwear go for $20 or higher (and I'm guessing you may be able to find the same thing for cheaper online), Still... fun place to go and browse for crazy designs. read more

I have been going here pretty much since they opened...in fact I probably have about $300 worth of their product sitting in my dresser as we speak. That should bring me to my first point, this place is expensive...if you are the type of man who can't fathom spending $20-30 for a pair of underwear you should probably keep walking :) Staff is always great and I would suggest talking to one of them before you spend too much as the different brands fit wildly different. My only complaint would be the fact the store is so small it can be hard to get around when it's busy. That wouldn't be a big deal except they keep bragging about how big the new Seattle shop is going to be...hook Portland up too? read more

Yes! When I interviewed for my new job in Portland about three years ago, I walked around downtown waiting for my time. I saw this store and was impressed. Keep in mind, I had been living in San Francisco for many years, so it takes a pretty good underwear store to impress me. I really like that they have cute and different things, and not the stuff that you find in adult stores. This place is really classy, clean and bright. What a great little store with tons of men's underwear brands ... Baskit, Andrew Christian, Aussie Bum, Hugo Boss, and some of the regular stylish undies you might find at Macy's. Friendly staff, too. Pricing is average for these brands. I'll make this place a regular stop on my return trips to Portland. read more

I wanted to love this store before I ever stepped foot into it. I heard about it before I moved here so I had some expectation. However, after the experience of feeling uncomfortable by four catty bitches ("workers") I vowed never to go back. Not sure I understand why gay men do this to one another - feeling a need to bully or body shame people when all you hear about these days are anti bullying campaigns on TV, Radio, Podcasts etc. Because of the layout of the store and all of the product I had a few questions and couldnt get any of the four "men" to help me - I walked over and asked if I could get assistance in the jocks area - one finally came over after finishing up his conversation with his co-worker - it seemed to pain him to answer my question and I finally just left feeling like shit. Being that I have a brand and on the verge of opening my own store - I took note how not to do customer service. Really disappointing. read more

I normally love coming here, I have been a buying underwear I was since 18 sporadically, I'm now 28 but never been told it's illegal to try on underwear when I asked where the fitting where, even though I was just there a week ago or go and bought a nice pair of jockstrap and tried them on in the back fitting room. I am believer of supporting your lgbt and local business; one of the reason I avoid doing big department because I already get racial profiled and get treated as if I can't afford anything or I that want to steal something. As someone who has worked in retail I know the tactics employees often of their validity and their own personal decision to follow customers around and be all suspicious; one employee felt the need to keep asking me if I need after I asking where the thongs and I found them; got the thong I wanted, wonder around looking for more items to buy ( l have quite poor vision so I like to wander around and see thing I buy up in person but and he kept soliciting me to any area as it felt to keep near by whenever I wonder off to far from his eye especially when I went upstairs acting as though he didn't know that there was some underwear upstairs and but not just the barbershop as if he was newly employed. I had a wonderful experience with the previous employees; I didn't get the name of this employee but he was white very tall and skinny, very messy long hair and was wearing some very short booty shorts I believe. This all happen today on Friday August 9th to what believe to be around 12-1pm, I would like have talk with the employee and the manager about his behavior and treatment of customer of color before I ever return as a buying customer and advise other queer men of color to do the same. read more

This place is great. I'm a big fan. They have a huge selection of swim suits, underwear, and gym apparel, so this is not a one-trick-pony store. You'll find stuff in every cut, color, and size so there's no reason for you to be apprehensive about going in. The people who work here are all incredibly nice and helpful. They'll listen to your thoughts and direct you to something that fits your needs. Are you looking for simple boxer briefs? They've got it. How about some quirky boxers? They've got it. Or maybe something in neon orange, with mesh and the back cut out? They've got that too. What I'm trying to say is, if you want something specific you can find it here. The prices are a bit on the spendy side, but that's to be expected. You're not buying Fruit of the Loom here, you're buying quality, fit, style, and uniqueness, so keep that in mind. It's a great store, so take a moment and go poke around. You'll probably find something you're interested in. read more
