Thank you to everyone at Union General Hospital for the great and loving care given to my mother after she fell 10 days ago. We just moved here so its a great comfort to me to know we have you all close. Everyone was so kind and efficient during her 3-day stay. I wish I had all of your names but I just don't, but here's a few of the folks that we wish to say thank you too: -- David Mullins and Jeff Rennie came quickly in the ambulance despite us being in a dark, rural area full of deer. They were kind and comforted mom. -- Kimberly in emergency was very kind and helpful to me too, as it was our first time there and I just did not know where to go. -- The ER staff was great too, including Dr. Scott. -- The nurses were wonderful to mom, as well. I hate it that I don't have all of your names, especially the young lady that cut mom's food for her as that was so sweet. Trissi and Miranda were two I met that were kind and we really liked them and appreciated them. -- Thank you to all doctors that checked on her too. In 2022, I had a late term miscarriage and had to deliver my baby girl. The nurses were wonderful, but Dr. Mercer nearly killed me. She had the worst bed side manner. She was smiling and cracking jokes while my world was crushing in around me. After the delivery and some very serious complications, she discharged me with a fever and dangerously low blood pressure. She refused to prescribe antibiotics after my and my family's questioning. Two days later I was readmitted nearly septic and on the verge of a stroke from low blood count. The doctor who cared for me was absolutely floored of the state of my body with the poor after care from Dr Mercer. I filed a complaint against the hospital, her medical license, and anyone else who would listen. My reviews on sites have been removed and the medical board never acted on my, or the many other complaints. Do not use this hospital. I beg you. read more

Excellent care at Wound Care, valet service is outstanding, transportation to Wound Care ( long way from entrance) just cannot say enough good things about the service at this hospital! In the hospital right now w a infected transplanted kidney and the flu and they want to treat my pain w Tylenol even though it says managing patient pain is #1 to them. Sorry but these idiots probably never even had a kidney transplant patient w a kidney infection. The stupid NP keeps say it's the same as a UTI! imbeciles! Plus plump short haired nurse Donna aka nurse ratcett is one of the most unsympathetic nurses I have come across. As I was barely able to walk she was 30 feet in front of me "taking" me to my room. Seemed more like she was trying to lose me. I had to ask for water 3 times, hello I'm a transplant patient, that's like a basic human need - water. It's like I'm in medieval times here. read more

So unfortunately, on my family vacation I couldn't stop having panic attacks (which I now Think it's linked to altitude sickness). Everyone was very nice and helpful. I had Never been to the ER before so that didn't help my scaredness . The front desk and even the lady Who took my blood were calming and the doc. And scott The nurse/pa was great at info. I dislocated my shoulder and went to the ER here. I was in a fair amount of pain when I arrived. The staff was excellent. They got an X-ray, explained the issues, then had me in a room with pain relief about as quickly as I believe possible. The Dr. explained what had happened, then sedated me and put the shoulder back in place. A great group of people from the techs to the MD who all took time to explain and did everything that seemed possible to get me comfortable and then fixed up. I ope to never have to visit the ER again, but it is great to know that we have such a fine facility in Blairsville. read more

First I want to say thank you for your service to your community and to all whom visit!!!! I wanted to give a positive shout out to the ER, MRI and the kind folks at admitting. This place was by far no less than 5 stars. I was greeted immediately, taken to the back, and received great care once they decided the best treatment for me. I am no stranger to hospitals but have always been the one that provided the care versus receiving it for over 28 years. This time I was obviously the patient and for the common reader medical providers are usually the worst patients in the world because of our training and what we think we know. To start the hospital was clean, the staff was friendly and no one asked me for money right off the bat. I have seen so many hospital that want you to do your financial paperwork before you are ever seen. The paperwork was given to me but I was told that it was not a pressing issue and could do it when I able. I felt that was very compassionate since I felt like a place kicker had used my stomach for kicking practice. The doctor was caring and listened to me explain how I felt, my nurse was a superstar by always checking on me and making sure I was not too hot or too cold. The techs were great as well, my blood draw was smooth, my trip to CT was pleasant and accompanied very nice conversation. All in all I spent 4-5 hours there an my overall experience was a very great! I'm very protective of my children but I would feel at ease if I had to bring them to this facility. Lastly to close this out.... I know first hand what it's like to be under appreciated when healthcare is your career of choice.... so we dare not complain because we picked this choice but if there were any unhappy people that work here I did not interact with one unless they covered it and covered it well. It is a sacrifice as providers we make to care for others. Please continue to give the same care I received and I hope that others will write a good review as well. I went to Union General Hospital the last week of January with a stroke. I am lucky to be alive, as there was not a Doctor ( MD) on duty. None ! No medication could be administered, and no instructions were on my discharge papers. It is a death trap in our opinion for anyone with a major medical emergency. Have never heard of an ER. NOT HAVING a Doctor on call or on duty, but this hospital has none! Avoid it if you need help, especially on a weekend, if you value your life. Would not recommend! read more

I fell last week and ended up fracturing both my wrist and hand - left arm. Although we live in Murphy, we heard great reviews about the Blairsville hospital so went there for ER. Although the pandemic was in full force, and no visitors or family are allowed in with you, the teams at the front door and in ER were very professional, and efficient. It took less than 2 hours to register, be seen by the PA and doctor, have x-rays, and have my arm fitted for a fracture splint. The doctor set up an appointment with Dr. Macbeth, the orthopedic surgeon at the hospital for Monday morning. Dr. Macbeth and his entire team were fantastic. My arm was casted and the doctor explained next steps very clearly. My follow up x-rays were done quickly and just have to heal. We will definitely go back to this hospital. read more

UGH is taking great care of my husband that I had rushed here by ambulance with a fever of 103 and totally out of it last night. The ER worked hard and finally got his fever to break. My husband is 72 and has lots of medical problems and this was dangerous. He is now in the hospital while our primary doctor figures out what happened so he does not repeat this. Everyone is very friendly, kind, and caters to whatever he needs. Every room is a private room so he can sleep whenever he can all day. They have a chef that does all the meals which is like going to a restaurant. This is ranked as the #1 Community Hospital. If you need medical care do not hesitate to come here. read more

We went Thursday when my dad was having pain and a lump just under his sternum. They ran several tests, then said they didn't know what was wrong and for him to go home and see if he felt better. . He hurt all weekend, finally went to another er, they immediately diagnosed hiatal hernia and diverticulitis. Gave him meds and pain meds. Was not impressed w the er at union genl. read more

I broke my leg in June 20016. Being a healthcare administrator for 25 years and having worked in hospitals and for numerous physicians, I was very skeptical about this smaller hospital. But I had to stay overnight at Union General and I can't say enough about my good care. The hospital was immaculately clean and the nursing staff was fabulous. The head nurse came in the next morning to ask how attentive the staff was and I reported they were great. They came as soon as I called and were very caring. Also, I couldn't believe how good the food was. Fresh blueberries and risotto....never seen food like this in a medical facility. I believe this hospital is a hidden jewel in the north Georgia mountains. Don't hesitate to go here. read more

I went to the clinic at Walmart. The receptionist asked me medical questions in front of other patients. Subsequent to the visit I had a follow up question and called the facility back. It took 5 days to get a reply - Very poor response read more

I arrived at 445 to get an xray that my doctor ordered. I then had to go to the emergency department to register. I then walked back to the radiology department and have been waiting for almost an hour. I walked back to the emergency department and asked if I should,come back. they told me they have some techs on duty and they are handling a lot in the emergency room. I said no,problem and returned. now approaching 3 hours, I find it odd that I have not seen an emergency xrays done here in radiology. must be a busy Monday night in Blairsville.... read more

I unfortunately lost a battle with a aluminum cat food can lid and needed stitches! I live 2 minutes from an ER but chose to wrap up my war wound tightly, take the kids on to school and head to the big UGH! Upon arriving... I see 50% of my family there for 2 other medical emergencies as well. 2 of us had to be in the ER and 1 had to be in surgery. I arrived around 7:50am and was back at work around 11:00, and that's even giving a dear family member a lift back home. To make a long story short, all 3 of us that required medical attention and on the road to recovery. I had a minor injury in the midst of 2 critical patients being brought in by ambulance, which one was my grandfather-in-law, and still got the care, compassion and service in UNDER 2.5 hours heading out the doors! You all were great! Special thanks to nurse practioner Michael, and good ol' jobe! I got to keep my thumb and my sanity. I highly recommend this hospital! read more
