So far so good! My son is a freshman and really is thriving and enjoying school. There are a lot of great programs like Avid, giving tons of opportunities to kids that need additional support toward college goals and for the learning different students, this is the school to go to. Horrible office staff. They are not responsible, they ignore calls, and treat people that do not fit the image of what a typical student/parent should look like in their eyes. They treat people differently based on appearance and can not manage to be decent human beings. The office is the main and if not only problem with this school. Even their parking is better than the office staff. This office staff is worse than a hospitals office. I've been treated better at Walmart. They treat me horribly when I go in there. They clearly do not want to be there and don't know how to treat students. We're almost legal adults and should be treated with the slightest bit of respect. I am not asking for much, just to have my words validated and to not be basically shooed out of a school office. The bottom line is that there needs to be a whole new office staff put in there. The principals, vice principals and counsellors are all fine and are great to work with, too so I do not see how all of the low level bottom feeders for office staff are all so horrible. Even the campus monitor that goes around campus on her golf cart is super sweet and welcoming, it's just those receptionists and clerks that do the basic paper work and deal with attendance. I will admit, the attendance discipline for being late or missing a day is super strict and a little much but that's not the point. If you can avoid going into the office for any reason most of the school year, kudos. If not, I'm totally sorry and I wish you the best of luck dealing with these dismissive, disrespectful and unhappy people. read more

I really like the sports teams they offer. I've heard nothing but great things about Union Mine.

Well I'm using Google Voice so this is going to be one long paragraph the vice principal at this school pretty much doesn't do his job I would have used another word but can't use it I came to him when my daughters only friend left at school my daughter is very shy and her friend was very social so they were able to make friends now my daughter was considered stuck up because she was pretty but extremely shy does not know how to go up to people does not know how to start a conversation unless somebody comes up to her so I came crying for help knowing my daughter and knowing how I was in Middle School and freshman year in high school and asked him to get her and some kind of counseling to help her meet new people he said he would also he said he would talk to teachers let them know to keep an eye on her that never happened and now ever since then two different incidents that happened at school 1 was my daughter got hit in the face and number 2 my daughter got around some people she didn't know they offered her alcohol and to try to fit in she drank some in the school didn't even know my daughter was blacked out throwing up phone in the toilet and I pretty much went to the school and told on my daughter the actual alcohol incident happened first excuse me me going to the vice principal for help came first a month later the alcohol incident two weeks later she gets hit by a girl that she thought was her friend like I said kids thought she was stuck up because she's a good looking girl and she has a huge heart and wouldn't hurt a fly she left the classroom then went to the principal's office right away in shock would should tell the school my daughter wasn't looking for a fight these girls just didn't like her and then pretended to be her friend the vice principal promised to keep an eye on our promise he would let the teachers know to keep an eye on her and this is been happening for 3 weeks and the teacher didn't notice plus they didn't notice my daughter had been with a group of kids she didn't even know made it to the bus stop could barely walk had two kids that didn't belong at that bus stop carry her backpack for her I am completely upset anyways the alcohol thing they let me give her the punishment because I'm the one who caught her drinking not the school so now they're trying to give my daughter a three-day suspension for another girl hating her are you kidding me with two witnesses that say that these other two girls acted like they were friends with her yes they were different race and I'm not trying to bring the race into it but I grew up in El Dorado County and there is race issues I went to high school at Ponderosa and there is racial issues at teachers and other people are blind about anyways the staff there is horrible there was two people waiting in line before me complaining about the same thing they're supposed to be good academically that's why I brought her to that school I have physical and sole custody of my daughter I'm her father my name is Ryan Murray and I'm completely upset Union mine high school right now I filed the complaint on the vice principal the principal doesn't really seem to care but he is checking into it and if you're looking to get help your child Union mine has a bigger name then they should have if you notice there's like 5 or 6 comments from the same person over and over think twice if you're worried about your child safety my daughter could have got raped for god sakes I was in high school once would I ever take advantage of a girl blacked out no but there are guys out there that I know that have and they don't know any better anyways the staff at this school is horrible I hope they do the right thing and overturn her fighting charge against her ridiculous completely ridiculous read more

I went to high school here and Its a beautiful campus! The schedule is exactly like a college schedule which I absolutely loved! 4 classes a day for about an hour and a half (Juniors and Seniors have the option to take only 3 classes if desired) and you keep those classes from Aug-Dec and then get a new set of 4 classes Jan-May! Beautiful pool. Rallys and spirit week are not taken seriously like they are at Ponderosa High School where everybody at school really gets into both. Mr. Deville is an awesome principal and the art programs at the school are wonderful! Sports aren't too bad either! read more
