Let me start by saying that Marx Entertainment provided both DJ services and Photo Booth services…read morefor our wedding. We were very unhappy with the DJ but happy with the Photo Booth set up and staff. My husband and I had DJ Craig for our wedding in September 2023. We had two meetings with him beforehand were we discussed how we would like the night to run. In addition to a list of "must-play" songs (something we were encouraged to complete), we discussed how we would like our table-dash, anniversary dance, alumni photo, and private dance to operate. We also noted on multiple occasions during both calls that we DID NOT want a lot of remixes. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with how DJ Craig managed all of these aspects except for the table dash and private dance. Here is where our issues lie: - Out of our 30 or so must play songs maybe half were played. - As laid out on the Marx Entertainment website we chose a "last song" for the dance floor. DJ Craig played the song we designated as our last song as a way to open the dance floor. - The first 30 minutes were exclusively remixes and bad ones at that. It got to the point where we said something to DJ Craig, and while the music did get better, he still continued to play remixes. Honestly, a Spotify playlist would have been better. - The anniversary dance was something DJ Craig suggested and we loved the idea. However, instead of doing what he had described to us where he starts calling people off the dance floor after some dancing and starting with short time increments, DJ Craig called for anyone married for less than 5 years to leave the dance floor after approximately 20 seconds. People hadn't even REACHED the dance floor to start dancing at that point, including the parents of the groom. Not to mention we are a young couple and that kicked more than half of the people off the dance floor in one sweep. - College alumni photo was announced at a very weird time and very rushed. Just felt awkward - We were immediately asked once the lights turned on to provide a positive video review for DJ Craig. This was extremely uncomfortable and we gave dishonest feedback during it. We would NOT recommend him. Like I said previously, the Photo Booth staff was excellent and we loved the book they made us. We also had no issues with booking or prior communication with Marx. While the set up and logistical execution of the event went well we didn't feel our opinions were considered at all in song selection and that the fun mini-events we had throughout the night went poorly

I knew exactly what I wanted and he was more than willing to oblige, as well as offer examples of ceremonies he had done previously. For music, we had our major songs picked out, but left the rest of the evening up to Craig. Our friends STILL talk about how awesome the music was, more than five years later. We got married in a barn and the dance floor had to be replaced after our wedding from our guests dancing and jumping on it ALL night. The dance floor was literally packed during the entire reception. I can't say enough about Craig. I would work with him again in a heart beat!

Craig was great in the run up to the wedding - he answered our questions, helped us work on both a playlist and a ceremony script, and communicated with our coordinator to make sure everything ran smoothly the day of. We are so glad we had Craig do the music and officiating for our ceremony. Stacy played all our music on cue and Craig was a great officiant. He let us have complete control over everything we wanted to do and say, respected the vibe we said we wanted, and of course most importantly sent in our marriage license as soon as he was able. We also got SO many compliments on his DJing from all our guests. He played the songs we asked for while also being able to read the room and know what songs would or wouldn't go over well. We had people dancing from the second the floor opened till we closed it down at midnight. Shoutout to Stacy as well who went above and beyond to help a family member with shuttle information when she totally didn't have to. All around a wonderful experience and I wish I could host another party to use them again!

B_entertained High…read morehopes, high disappointments. I wish I'd seen a review that helped me dodge this bullet. If you are planning a wedding, choose someone else. We used to B_entertained to supply the rentals for our wedding reception at Egerton Park. As we prepared for the event, they made mistakes. For example, they sent us quotes that were triple the price of what they should have been, and which we would've had to pay if we hadn't contested them. In every zoom meeting, Mike kept his camera off, which felt creepy and unprofessional. The company was also unclear about their cancellation and 72 hour policies. However, we took this in stride, and we were ready to let them work things out. We thought we were having a communicative experience with their customer service, and were hopeful that it would go well. At the reception, the generator shorted out one hour before the end of the event. We had paid for the larger generator, but it still gave out. Fortunately for us, our family and friends pulled together and used phone lights to keep the dancefloor lit. We brought our own speaker that was battery powered, and without it, the music would have stopped too. I'm very grateful we didn't also hire a DJ through this company, as their equipment would have stopped working when the generator did. What was most disappointing to me was my experience when I called Mike to discuss this with him. I expressed my frustrations in the hopes that he could explain what happened. But Mike was combative, aggressive, and told me that it was our fault. When I made that phone call, I was prepared to write a review about how, even though the generator stopped working, they worked with us to find a solution. But Mike hung up on me before I had even finished talking. I hope the recording of the call will be made available to me. If he had dealt with me on the phone call kindly, then I would be writing a very different review. But I am immensely disappointed with the service, this reaction, and the way that he treats you once he has your money. I do not recommend this company.

The DJ was at the perfect level of excitement for the group, we had a combination of fun dances and popular songs. The music quality was perfect, and they even brought lighting to make the dance mood under the tent even more fantastic! This man ruined my wedding…read more He was unprofessional, belligerent, drunk, and absolutely inappropriate. He played Gold Digger. At my wedding. The explicit version. With children in the room. He refused to turn down the volume of music during dinner, and refused to play any of the songs that I requested. Despite speaking with him prior to the wedding about what songs we wanted played during dinner and for dancing, spending hours filling out his extensive online worksheet listing "MUST PLAY", "WOULD LIKE PLAYED", and "DO NOT PLAY" songs, he played almost exclusively his own picks or songs on my DO NOT PLAY list. He told me during our conversation that he was good at reading the crowd, and would be able to play a good mix of songs that would keep people on the dance floor. I was mortified. His music drove 1/3rd of guests home, and another 1/3rd of my guests outside of the ballroom to escape his music. I tried my best to be on the dance floor despite the undanceable song choices (including 500 Miles?!?) and disco garbage. I am a dancer, and several of my guests are swing dancers. It was impossible to dance that night. What made things worse is that John Rzasa, THE DJ, kept trying to dance with me. He even tried to cut in on my husband, then got on the microphone and called my husband jealous because he wouldn't let THE DJ DANCE WITH HIS NEW BRIDE. I finally just left the dance floor because the songs were unbearable and the DJ wouldn't stop harassing me. I went outside to the concrete patio with the rest of my guests and danced with my swing dancer friends to songs we played on our cell phones. When I finally went back inside to get a drink, he was playing a song on my DO NOT PLAY list, trying to lead a line dance with a handful of reluctant guests. When he saw me come in, he rushed back to the microphone to say "Oops, the bride is back. This was on her do not play list!" while grinning. When he finally did play something that I had requested, he prefaced the song by saying "I will allow this, just this once" while glaring at me menacingly. At the end of the night, he cut off the music abruptly in the middle of the last song, and announced that the evening was over. He then tried to drunkenly embrace and kiss my guests who were leaving. My mother-in-law was horrified. It was a nightmarish experience. Unfortunately, the nightmare didn't end there. I emailed him to express my absolute horror at the evening. Ever since then, he has been non stop calling me and texting me almost exclusively between the hours of 11pm and 5am despite my multiple attempts to ask him to stop harassing me and to simply respond by email. I have had to block his number as he will not stop harassing me. I have since talked with several guests who were too embarrassed to say anything on the day of the wedding because they thought the terrible songs were requested by me. What was supposed to be a wonderful day of friends, family, good food, and dancing has become a terrible memory. I have almost no pictures or video of dancing because the dance floor was embarrassingly empty for almost the entire night. John has failed to respond to my emails. He has failed to offer any reparations for his drunken and inappropriate behavior. I only hope that by posting this review, he will never again have a chance to ruin someone's wedding.

I would definitely recommend using this company, BUT with some major caveats that I wish I had clarified. PROS: Very professional, responsive, reasonably priced, great website, MOSTLY followed our instructions that we wanted a DJ who was completely non-involved. We did not want the kind of DJ who bellows, "And nowwww, presenting for the verrrrry first time...put your hands together for MR. AND MRS. SMITH!!!!" In other words, we didn't want anyone who sounded like they could double as a radio DJ or a WWE announcer. We wanted someone who would quietly put songs on the stereo from the corner, and maybe say "If folks could please take their seats, dinner is about to be served." That's it. Evan did a GREAT job of this, except for during the cake cutting, when he took it upon himself to narrate the entire thing, which just made me cringe and whisper to my new husband "What is he doing?!?" It was distracting and tacky. CONS: The one thing we cared about most was having a DJ that would give us full control over the songs. Party Pro is perfect for this because you can create as much or little of your playlist as you want (re: you can create 100%, and we tried to). We used their website to create three playlists: "Dinner Music," "Must Plays," and "Would Likes," which are the lists the website prompts you with. (There is also a "Don't Play" list, to which we said "anything not on our other lists"). Evan did only play songs from our three lists, so that was good and as expected. However, apparently we also needed to be explicit about the fact that the songs on the "Must Play" list were higher priorities than the songs on the "Would Like" list. We weren't, because we thought this was very obvious from the titles of the lists (are we crazy there?!?). I also referred to these lists as "Tier 1" and "Tier 2" throughout my correspondence with Evan and Beth, so I thought that also made it clear. Not so much. Evan played many songs from the Tier 2 list before getting to all of the Tier 1 list, and as a result, many of the songs we had really, really cared about hearing were never played because there wasn't time. There was more than enough time for the whole Tier 1 list, but we had put extra songs on the Tier 2 list just for a buffer. It was very frustrating to hear Tier 2 songs before all the Tier 1 songs were played (actually, I think he ended up playing more Tier 2s, which really made me mad!). Ultimately, it was fine, because we had a dance-friendly crowd and, quite frankly, the Tier 2 songs were still good enough to keep everyone on the dance floor the whole night. So from that angle, Evan was great. But we had put some very danceable songs on our Tier 1 list that also had great sentimental value, and many of these were sorely missed by my husband and me. I will confess this is my only regret about our wedding (not a huge one, but a regret nonetheless). Looking back, I really think we were clear enough in our prep meeting about what we wanted, but apparently not--too late for us, but not for you. : ) All of that being said, I would still recommend Evan and Party Pro...just make sure you spell everything out six ways from Sunday.
