It wasn't the newest model, and they only had manual transmission at that moment but the car suited us just fine. We had it for 5 days. We were able to put a deposit down using a debit card, which was helpful as I was having issues with my credit card. They asked us to pay in cash at the end. A driver took us to the airport for a couple of dollars on our last day. The fee was on par with the larger US rental companies in the end. All in all, we felt looked after, which was important.

They made it sound like leaving without it was insane. That "extra coverage" nearly doubled the price I had already seen online. I refused. I cancelled on the spot and went to another company. This isn't a misunderstanding. It's bait-and-switch: they lure you in with a cheap "fully covered" rate, then change the rules at the desk to charge you twice as much. Other companies like Mex Rent a Car and Europcar show the real total up front. No last-minute shakedown. No fake "0% deductible" that vanishes the second you arrive. I felt scammed and cornered. Not to mention we had my 75year old mother-in-law with us who walks slowly. So after checked in, there was an employee at the counter so we told him we brought the car here. His answer was we have to return it to the office. (Already 7:05am and still have to go through immigration.) He kept saying rudely "This is not a return location." How do we make it to our flight then? This company is a world wide company and should know how flights work, 24/7!!! We saw Avis already open when we drove by. The employee considered no deviation. So we paid the parking and just gave him the key, and told him to take care of it. When we got to the gate, they had already started boarding. We barely made it!! This is not the way to treat your most loyal customers. They used to give us a pass to leave the car at the terminal so why no more?!?!?! Just not acceptable. So we wanted all the people to know before you make a reservation with National here. Also last time we went to their office at ADO station on Calle 60, they were closed over 30 minutes before said office hours. Pretty much local way, but they really need to polish their business manner here. It was such an unnecessary stress to start our trip.
