Already knew the basics of driving prior to the first lesson since I drove with my dad for a bit before taking my first actual lesson with a professional. When I drove home, he didn't tell me where to go so I assumed to go straight (I knew the directions home and the freeway was directly straight and I've never been on the freeway before). Anyone who has never been on the freeway would be scared, right? He was on his phone and was like "Ok, just merge onto the freeway." He finally got off his phone before we were about to merge onto the freeway. After the first lesson, I mainly got John. He was very nice and helpful through the lessons and gave good advice. I took over the 6 hours and ended up passing the behind the wheel test on the first try at the El Monte DMV (got unlucky and got Natalie Toy though , but somehow still passed although she deducted points). All she said was "$60 for 2 hours". I made an appointment anyway because it was VERY cheap compared to other schools. 6 NOV 2013: It was the day of my appointment. The instructor was supposed to be here at 1:45pm, but he (Edward Wu) came 10 minutes late. He was very nice, so I decided not to mark him for being late. I told him it was my first time driving, so he drove around for 15 minutes, but he didn't really teach me anything while he was driving. It was my turn to drive, and I did "pretty well for a first time driver" (in the words of Mr. Wu). My instructor, Sarah, was kind, patient, and understanding. And although there was somewhat of a language barrier because she only spoke Mandarin, she still tried striking up conversations and ultimately was in it to help her students succeed. There were many times where she asked if I needed a water break or anything really. After having multiple negative encounters with past instructors (rudeness, don't text back, very high pricing, forgot to pick me up...) and finally contacting Sarah from Trans Ocean is surreal. In addition to all the positives, pricing is the lowest out of all the other instructors that I have worked with which is a huge +. Props to Sarah, definitely recommend if you want to learn how to drive & get those hours completed!

We also like that the school focuses on both academics and play. Even starting in preschool, they introduce light homework, which helps build good learning habits early while still keeping things fun. Another thing we love is their focus on community engagement. They bring in local police officers, firefighters, and librarians to talk to the kids about safety and the community. Fridays are especially fun with activities like pizza making, dress-up days, and arts and crafts. They also do a great job celebrating different cultural holidays so every family feels included. Mandarin and Spanish classes are available too (for an additional cost), which is a nice bonus. Female students beware. I am not sure if he still works here, there is an old asian man instructor named Mr. Rowland who is a predator. I recommended this instructor to my sister because he helped me obtain my license. Had I known he was such a creep, I would of never done so. He made a lot of inappropriate comments, put his hand on her for an inappropriate length of time, even invited her into his home. After discussing our situations to the friendly receptionist from Pasadena Driving school, we were assigned with their most experienced driving instructor Richardo Gonzalez Silva. Upon purchase of 3 lessons package, I also emailed them my son's score sheet from his failed driving test, honestly I doubted they would even look at it. The next day, Richardo showed up 10 mins earlier at my house. To my surprise, he was well prepared, not only he already reviewed my son's score sheet, he also had plans on what to work on. My son enjoyed his time spent with Richardo, he came home with a BIG smile on his face and told me Richardo even let him get on the FWY for the first time. He regained his confidence in driving and passed his next driving test with an almost perfect score. We're very very happy with Pasadena Driving School, only regret was we didn't look into it sooner.

Less than an hour before first lesson Mr . Silva canceled. Again I asked if he was the only instructor we can book with he quickly said he can refund our money. My guess is this "school" is one man and his car...? Anyway, I guess it's not a problem for a family with an open schedule but beware, he is pushy and seems somewhat aggressive. Very unprofessional.
