Worst company ever!! Never sends bills and then charges for late payment. Also worst coverage ever. Waiting for open enrollment to change.

Unfortunately, my company uses UHC. Most of the stuff is not covered according to them. The ridiculous prior authorizations that take weeks to get approved, but a rejection, you get the same moment... I guess the hope is that you die before they have to pay for it.. going to ditch companies insurance and find a better one read more

United Healthcare is a disaster. They deny services for truly bizarre reasons ( my doctor was shaking his head over the most recent one),demand documentation they then lose, make it almost impossible for doctors or their insurance liaisons to talk with anyone to find out where the decision for the denials come from, approve critical procedures at the very last minute so you don't know if it's being approved or not. I know, I've experienced this repeatedly and am currently experiencing it for a surgical procedure Medicare has signed off on. I am greatly looking forward to changing as soon as it's possible. It's a fraudulent organization that tries to switch you to their plans with lies. It's very hard to review their plans, hard to understand the foreign representatives and no available help. The reps do not know or wish to answer truthfully questions and give wrong information. Stay away from that terrible plan!!! read more

I signed up for my first Medicare plan. My eye doctor prescribed some eye drops. I take the prescription to my pharmacy only to discover that the copay for a 90 day supply of eye drops is $300.00. I contacted UHC, and was told it was this much because the prescription was not generic. I guess I should have done research before signing up for this lousy company. Anybody planning on getting, or changing to UHC beware. I will be searching for a more affordable heath care company that is not profit driven. I should have figured it out when I saw all the actors in commercials pushing UHC. The extremely high copays are needed to pay the actors and advertising. read more

If you need healthcare do everything in your power to avoid United. I have had a surgery scheduled for over a month that was denied less than 24 hours prior by UHC. The United representative that was supposed to attend the peer to peer meeting with my doctor after denying my claim missed the meeting and then sent a denial 12 hours prior to surgery. Joke of a company. Seriously, go anywhere else for health insurance. read more

Customer service is a complete JOKE. They will do and say anything to avoid answering a simple question. They will pass you around like a beach ball, one after another who dont want to deal with patients/customers. They wont explain benefits, they will tell you to talk to your doctor about benefits, what use is this to me if I dont have a doctor to go to. read more

We will be getting rid of UHC as soon as we have open enrollment again. I have had numerous issues with this company since day 1 and all of the reviews below about the phone representatives being unable or unwilling to help are completely true. This company cares nothing about the patients and only about you paying premium for their services, only to be unable to access them when you really need them. I am facing a $400 charge for a Strep B GBS test that ALL pregnant women get (this is a standard test that is covered for anyone with insurance). I go to an in network doctor and have checked for every lab I have done to make sure it was covered. The office I go to made a mistake and told me the wrong lab for the one test they send elsewhere. UHC could care less. They typically pay $50 for this test and refused to help me work out this $400 bill. I know that they could have because I've read they have helped other patients but you need to call them like crazy, file an appeal, and hope you get an employee who actually has a heart/conscious. I did everything I could as a patient to protect myself but it didn't matter in the end. I am very worried about using this insurance when I give birth at a hospital because I have called and had them confirm other things were covered during my pregnancy only to have them refuse to pay a single cent later. They have recordings of their reps telling me a test I had done at 10 weeks was covered (they specifically told me to have it through Natera and then it would be covered) and when I tried to work with someone named Giovanna to get the recording and confirm what I was told she ghosted me and ignored my calls for several weeks. I'm sure she heard the phone call and then didn't know what to do so she just hoped I would give up. I ended up having to work it out with the company that does genetic testing instead. United Healthcare insurance is pure garbage and probably the worst I've ever had. read more

I've practiced Radiology for over 43 years and currently a licensed in the state of California. When my wife presented a claim to United healthcare with a completely ripped meniscus documented by MRI and a partial knee replacement, which was confirmed by three orthopedic surgeons her claim was denied. I'm going to get the medical directors license number and I'm going to pursue this legally. I hope those of you that read this will definitely seek insurance from another insured. I wish they had negative reviews. This is the absolutely worst company EVER. They will do everything possible to delay and deny your claim so you end up paying cash and giving up. I appealed their denial with the state and won and they try to appeal my appeal to get out of paying. Fortunately they lost. I had them for over 5 years and they have a pattern and company culture of delaying and denying claims. Please tell your HR NOT to use them! read more

I recieved a bill from my doctor and was wondering if I should pay it. So i gave united healthcare a ring to see what is the issue. The first call was with a man and he was condescending and was intent on letting me understand his superiority.He probably assumed I was a frail senior who would fold.He was very unprofessional and actually raised his voice.I was shocked and dismayed.Will be letting this company go as soon as possible.Us seniors are just a dollar to UHC.Inexcusable !!! read more

I had an aggressive squamous cell carcinoma. I never received authorization to see a surgeon so I sought treatment myself. They refused to reimburse me because I didn't see a network doctor. I waited over a month. If I waited for authorization I wouldn't be writing this review. I had to pay $2,000 for the surgery. They NEVER reimbursed me. Help, I need to find a decent insurance company that doesn't steal your money! read more

We used to have untied Healthcare. The telephone representatives don't know how to their jobs. We received mail labeled with my mothers name but the medical procedure was for a completely different unknown patient. They mix up your medical history with other patients, they aren't professional in any way. read more

My father needed to be transferred from St Josephs hospital to Keck USC hospital for an emergency prostatectomy surgery. The procedure was not approved so we pulled him out of St Joseph and took him to Keck where a renowned surgeon performed surgery on my 90 year old father. My dad has to pay cash for surgery and hospital stay. But thank God It was a success! He is living well at home independently. Now I'v been submitting claims and appeals for almost a year to have them refund the money to my dad. I've been denied and been given the run-around. :( read more

Do not do business with this company. They have their reps calling me ten times a day to get me to enroll with them. I told them "No" once and they continue calling. I have asked them to stop calling me and they still continue to call non stop. This company has zero respect. read more
