To my surprise they removed the growth on my head (cherry anginoma ) and the skin tag on my back. The skin tag on my back wasn't covered by my insurance and I was charged $99 to remove it cause it was considered cosmetic but the one on my head was covered. I couldn't believe how simple it was and pain free. Several days later the removal on my back looked infected to my wife and I stopped over and was instantly seen and they did a culture. I found this spa on Groupon offering a Labor Day promotion for a micro-needling treatment. The standard Groupon price was listed at $85, but with the active holiday promo code, it dropped to $59.59. Before booking, I called the business directly at (847) 271-4206 to confirm. I spoke with a manager, explained the promotion, and she explicitly instructed me NOT to buy the voucher through Groupon. Instead, she stated they would honor the $59.59 price directly if I took a screenshot of the deal, showed it at check-in, and paid them directly. Trusting her word, I drove 15 miles to my appointment. During the check-in process, I showed the front desk administrator the screenshot. The administrator completely refused it and insisted on charging $85, claiming the lower amount was just a temporary promo. When I explained that the manager had guaranteed the $59.59 holiday price over the phone, they made me wait while they called the manager to the front desk. The exact manager I had spoken to came out and completely denied the conversation. She lied about our agreement, used a highly dismissive tone, and actively bullied and intimidated me in front of her two employees. It felt like an intentional bait-and-switch tactic designed to make me feel small and pressured into paying a higher price after driving all that way. I refused to give my money to a business that relies on deception and intimidation. Their customer service is nonexistent, and their management practices are completely unethical. Save yourself the drive and the frustration--avoid this place.

Unfortunately, my experience after becoming an established patient has led me to change that rating. On June 30, I was prescribed clindamycin gel, tretinoin, and spironolactone for hormonal acne. After about a month of treatment, I began developing a significant breakout along my jawline, neck, and chest. The flare-up continued to worsen over the following weeks and became concerning because it was unlike anything I had previously experienced. On July 31, I called the office to explain my concerns and ask if the medications were simply not working yet or if I might be having a reaction. I was told someone would contact me, but no one ever did. After waiting nearly a week without a response while my condition continued to worsen, I called again on August 6 and asked to speak with a nurse or provider. The only response I received was a portal message advising me to use the clindamycin gel up to twice daily and to continue waiting for the spironolactone to take effect. As my symptoms became increasingly severe, I called again on August 6 and multiple times on August 7. I explained that the breakout was spreading, becoming itchy, and that I was concerned the gel itself might be making things worse. Each time, I was told someone would get back to me. No one did. I also asked whether I could come in to be evaluated and was told there were no appointments available. Ultimately, I became concerned enough that I started reaching out to other dermatologists and even considered going to urgent care. Thankfully, another dermatologist was able to fit me into their schedule on short notice. After being evaluated, I learned that I had an infection that required a month of antibiotics, prescription creams, medicated washes, and blood work. What frustrates me most is not that I experienced a complication. Sometimes treatments don't work as expected, and unexpected issues can happen. My disappointment comes from the lack of communication and follow-up despite multiple calls over the course of a week while my condition was actively worsening. The only guidance I received was essentially to continue using more of the medication, without anyone taking the time to speak with me and fully understand what was happening. As of today, I still have not received any additional follow-up regarding the concerns I reported. Patients deserve timely communication when a condition is rapidly worsening, and unfortunately that was not my experience with this office. I would have much preferred someone simply speak with me, assess the situation, and determine whether I needed to be seen. The lack of response ultimately forced me to seek care elsewhere, where it was quickly determined that I had an infection requiring treatment. That experience has significantly changed my view of this practice and is the reason I can no longer recommend the Crystal Lake location.

The PA and my nurse today were warm and welcoming throughout the appointment, explaining things step by step beforehand and as they went through the procedures. They were responsive and compassionate when I got unexpectedly lightheaded following a procedure (which is not uncommon for me), and their quick actions prevented me from loss of consciousness like I've experienced in other doctors' offices. My appointment is already scheduled for next year! You won't go wrong with this clinic or their team!
