Two days in a row I had mail in my mailbox for pickup with the flag up. Carrier just piles new mail on top

This post office building is big but the space allocated for customers to conduct their business not so much. However contrary to reviews I've read, it was very quiet on this day. Maybe most were out doing their black Friday shopping. It was a quick hassle free transaction. Thank you. The End. read more

cheduled a customer pick up for a package at a USPS location in Dover, DE. I had confirmation numbers, email confirmations with the date and time of pick up, and texts verifying this pick up. I get to post office and they can't find my package and tell me I must be incorrect and did the redelivery/pickup process wrong and I didn't following the directions and that the package was already in a big bin to be sent out for redelivery to my home. They never even cared that I had confirmation numbers and did all these steps and took time to drive to them and plan my day around going to pick up this package from them and just totally making me feel like I'm the worst person for coming there and pausing their day to go look for my package. They were very very annoyed about this which already alone is wrong because I didn't do anything wrong. The main reason I'm giving one star though is because of the way I was treated by one of the employees. She was not the main front desk lady and came from the back. She spoke to me with attitude right from the beginning as if I was disrupting their peaceful day and causing havoc in their building, wow nice treatment for someone following the rules ! Anyways she told me I could GO STAND IN THE CORNER and wait at least three hours for the mail man to look through all his packages to find my package as if I was being punished for coming there and trying to collect my package that I had scheduled for a pickup. She said I was incorrect in the way I scheduled my pickup, which I did not I am very tech savvy, am a computer coder, 30 years old... I know what I'm doing when it comes to using technology. She never even tried to look at my confirmation numbers or learn how she could help this issue not happen again with Usps, never apologized for the inconvenience that the office workers can't connect with the online accounts... what I mean here is I scheduled online for my package to be picked up by myself on a specific date yet when I show up to Usps on the correct date to the correct office to pick up my package they look at me like I'm an alien from outer space and giving me attitude for asking them to find my package. My last complaint is that as I'm walking out of the office I hear this same lady who told me to 'stand in the corner' talking about me to everyone else waiting in line/employees in the back saying very rude things. Horrible experience here, the employees work for the government so don't care about how they treat us, the general public and literally talk to us like we are 5 years old trying to put a customer in time out bc I asked for a package I had scheduled to pick up that day at that time at that location. read more

This is the primary and only post office in Dover. The lines are always long at the windows. On my recent visit, there were two windows open and a long line of patrons. I opted to add a stamp to my envelopes and drop them in the box. I tried to purchase forever stamps at the self-service kiosk but it only provides the regular-priced stamps. I have used forever stamps for so long, I don't know the price of an individual post stamp. In any case, I will use the kiosk to mail my package when I return this week. Note: Parking is a mess as they are building the new library next door to the post office. Originally, they planned to use the old post office facility but I am glad they scrapped that idea for a brand new facility that will be much bigger. read more

It's a U.S. Post Office, so nobody's expectations should be too high...right? Well, if that's the case, you won't be disappointed. Staff behind the counter seem to be trying their best, but there's rarely enough of them to handle the line that's almost always there when I visit. Of course, the people who wait to pack and tape their boxes at the counter don't help none either. I also have asked them several times to please clean up the litter around that building. Too many plastic bottles, empty cigarette packs, packing strips and assorted litter that just festers there for weeks on end. A public building in Dover Delaware should be better cared for, I think. Come on USPS.....have a little pride, please. read more

Useless. We live in an apartment so they don't have access to our door only the mail box outside. If a package is too big they refuse to deliver. Understandable but they continue to tell us *If you call us and tell us where to deliver we'll do that* ... Constantly tell them to deliver to the rental office (Which is less then 30 steps from our mail box) and they still refuse to do that and leave us notes saying *if you tell us where to deliver we'll deliver there ... * What a crock. I mean we are calling to organize a redelivery and telling them to deliver to the office .. very next day same BS note in the mailbox. Went so far as to call amazon and tell them to stop using USPS when sending our orders, FYI amazon will deprioritize carriers if you ask them to ... so hopefully more of my orders will come via UPS and Fedex who apparently can walk 30 feet to the rental office. read more

Been having many problems with them over the years. They keep giving us other people mail, keep deliver my mail to my old home even after I fill out the change of address form. Now they returning my mail to the sender because they claimed my address is undeliverable. Keep complaining to them but they keep doing the some mistakes. They need a overhaul!!!!!!! read more

Each time I go to the Dover Post office it appears there is a staff shortage it doesn't' matter the time of day. One staff person to the counter the rest of the staff counters 4/5 unmanned be prepared for a long wait. So the new Dover post office opened.....the same BS that was going on at the old location followed. Long lines lack of staff and staff's ignorance. Many of the staff appear unfamiliar with their job leaving costumers waiting unnecessarily too long. Dover Post Office PLEASE employ individuals that know their jobs and care about people. Notice how many people are waiting for service with (1) staff person at the counter. One would think with the volume of people waiting for service additional employees would assist. Try another location if possible. As a tax payer the behavior's of the staff are unacceptable. But change must start at the top with management and supervisors which I'm sure are aware of the problems. read more

I actually dread coming to this post office. There is ALWAYS a line here and it ALWAYS MOVES SLOW. I don't know how many times they have lost certified mail, packages, you name it. They never take into consideration of where to put packages they drop off. Once a package was left in front of my house leaning on the screen of my door. I would have gone ape sh*t if it had torn! I lived in Frederica previously and it was always a pleasant experience. The last time I had to mail out a package I thought about driving there or to another small town post office. read more

Easy in and very quick. We have never waited more that a few minutes for service. The staff are very friendly, The free parking is unheard of for even a small city. Go Dover! read more

I agree with all the negative reviews about the Dover Post Office. For years I have been complaining to the Postmaster about getting everyone else's mail but my own. This played havoc with paying my bills on time. They even put a red sticker in my mailbox to alert the carrier to make sure he/she is putting in the correct mail. I finally gave up. All this was before my current carrier, Michele. She is wonderful and takes pride in her job. She is very attentive to making sure we all receive our own mail. The only problem I had was on her day off her sub, of course, gave me someone else's mail. I respect and appreciate Michele and her work ethic. read more

Unfortunately there is no option to give them zero stars because thasts my true review. You can never get ahold of anyone over the phone. The number just keeps ringing and ringing and oh wait for the kicker. The mailbox is full!!! Which tells me that they NEVER answer the phone period and they don't check messages or get back with customers as they claim. Yet I still continue to call and call in hopes someone picks up. It's urgent for me because I live in another state now. Otherwise I would walk in and tell them they need to start answering the phone! read more

I just called the post office to inquire of my package. I wanted to verify if my package was still with them or if it will be redelivered to my current address. The male who i was speaking with was very rude and did was not professional at all. I understand when you are supposed to be in the customer service department, it can be tiresome to answer the same questions over and over again, but at 9:12 a.m., its ridiculous. Sent my beautiful customized and very expensive wedding invites through the Dover Post...about half my guest received their invites...the rest received damaged invites...such a waste! Will go to any other post office in Delaware but Dover to deliver important invites! read more
